*A scroll case is left with all members of the Weave Scouts known to Waylan*
Weave Scouts,
My search for a natural passage to the underdark has proven fruitless. I have learned that clerics of lloth have been suspected of creating magical portals to the surface through her dark blessing. Unfortunately this only serves their dark endeavors...
A natural passage must be found and when it is, it's secret must be guarded at all cost. If any of you have any intelligence on this matter please seek me out.
It has been a while since I have seen most of you. I am well and I hope the same for you.

William, returning to the Istari Tower after spending several days patrolling the roads south of Baldur’s Gate, leaves a note for Exarch Nahum in his quarters.
Exarch Nahum,
While patrolling the roads south of the city, near the accursed temple of Bhaal, I was approached by a traveler. He was dressed in rather fine cloth, and despite his white hair he spoke in a voice that was younger than expected. He introduced himself as Vicham, new to the area, and a Paladin squire devoted to Mystra. As we proceeded to converse, he told me that he had been sent by the Church of Mystra to Baldur’s Gate to seek out the Weave Masters and become a Guardian. This apparently was the wish of his former master, a Knight of the Mystic Fire. His training, he told me, was incomplete however. Reguardless of his experience, I sensed that the man was of a truly honorable sort, and I have the feeling that he has great potential. After continuing to speak with him some more, I thought that he would make an excellent addition to the Weave Guardians.
I have decided to use my temporary powers as acting Weave Captain to initiate Vicham into our order, and I think he will soon prove his worth to our cause. He was greatly honored of my decision, and was immediately able to donate the required spell scroll to the guild. As to his lack of experience, I have also decided to take Vicham on as my squire for the time being, and through my instruction I hope to bestow upon him some of my martial experience. In fact, we began training immediately, and accompanied by an elf by the name of Khrisah that Vicham had some acquaintance with, we set off south for Beregost with the purpose of picking up some of the supplies that Maltz seems to perpetually need for his smithy. We quickly ran into trouble in the form of a gnoll ambush, and were able to help out some fellow travellers. The gnolls were quickly slain, and I was impressed by Vicham’s cool demeanor. I’ve known many men to run at their first sight of a gnoll…
As we continued to travel southwards, we faced other foes of the wilderness, and I continuously offered advice to Vicham. He seems to be a quick learner, and I’m glad to say that his marksmanship skills with a crossbow seem to be improving considerably. I also find it good to note that Vicham seems to have a cool head about himself, for during the journey he was the target of constant ridicule from Khrisah, the elf we traveled with. Despite the elf’s bickering, it seemed as if Vicham kept his temper under control, which impressed me as well.
I think we have a good recruit here, and I hope you approve of my decision to accept him into the Weave Guardians. I believe that the rank of Footman may be suitable for him for the time being. /// too bad Nahum will never be able to meet him! lol!
I also wanted write to you of an unrelated matter. Do we have any leads yet on an entrance into the Underdark? Although I am honored to be acting Weave Captain, I am still greatly saddened and angered by the fate of Keagan. My sword is ready to avenge his death, and is my entire person, in anyway that I can.

A notice is posted in the lobby of Istari Tower.
Fellow Weavemasters,
As you are all aware our order increases in numbers quite regularly. In the past few weeks there have been several upstanding individuals added to our roster.
Three of these new members are have been initiated as Guardians. One of these is a monk who follows the faith of Tyr, and is known by the name Kaya Ironhands. The other two are brothers, paladins both they are, sent to us from the church of Mystra. They go by the names Vicham and Vindex Valdur. All three have already served valiantly since their induction into the Weavemasters, and all have been initiated at the rank of Footman.
Another Master has joined our ranks as well. High Mage Sion inducted him before he left for his journey to Evermeet. He goes by the name of Jath Dosoth'lin, and has been initiated at the rank of Weave Adept. Despite the absence of his tutor, Joth has done very well in his studies, and is a very fine addition to our ranks.
If you happen to cross paths with any of these people, please give them a warm welcome into our order. All four have proven themselves worthy of becoming Weavemasters, and in turn have earned my respect and hopefully yours as well.
Elite Magus Elias Goodmane

William sat at his desk in his quarters at the Weave Tower. On the table in front of him, his hat rested on the worn wooden surface, along with a bottle of wine next to his unsheathed falchion. Tracing a finger along the black polished blade he starred at his reflection on its surface, and took a deep sigh. I don’t even know what to say, he thought glumly. How does one write such a letter? Should I even be the one to do it? He shook his head, and frowned. Of course I have to. I promised Markon Ascaron I would.
William had met the noble man on the road the previous night. Markon had been a friend of both Keagan and Kahlen, and was deeply perturbed that no one had taken the bold step of informing Kahlen of his brothers death. It had been days since the former Weave Captain had died, and his brother had no idea as of yet. Markon had suggested that William do something about informing Kahlen as soon as he could, and William had solemnly agreed.
With another sigh, he began to write :
“Kahlen Wyndsoul,
My name is William Fredrickson. I am a Defender in the Weave Guardians. I have never met you before, Sir Kahlen, but I have known your brother, Weave Captain Keagan, who was my commanding officer in the Weave Masters. Also I have just recently made the acquaintance of Markon Ascaron, a friend of both you and your brother. On his prompting, I have taken it upon myself to be the bearer of the most dire and sorrowful of news.
Your brother, Keagan Wyndsould, is dead. He was killed, by the machinations of a foul drow named Belados in depths of the Underdark several days ago. The warrior Ujio was with him during his final minutes. I do not believe it my place to tell you of the details of his death, as I was not present, but I can assure you that he did die with the utmost honor. I am sure that Weave Exarch Nahum, as he was present when Ujio himself returned from the Underdark, bloodied and beaten, would be willing to tell you all that he knows, along with Ujio himself. I know this is terrible news, but I beg of you to come to the Weave Tower as soon as you can so you can know of the entire accounts leading up to Keagan’s death.
I am sorry this news had to come from me, a stranger you have never met, but I had made a promise to Markon that I would tell you, and I couldn’t dishonor my former Captain in not telling his kin of his death as well. I wish I had the nerve to tell you sooner.
I can also assure you that the Weave Masters are making every preparation possible in avenging your brothers death and will not stop until duty has been done. I pledge my life in avenging the death of Captain Keagan as well. If you wish even to seek revenge on your own for this deed, I would pledge my sword to your assistance. But even if that is the case, I beg of you to return to the Weave Tower and speak with the Exarchs. We wish revenge as much as you do.
Respectfully,
William Fredrickson, Weave Guardian Defender, and Acting Weave Captain”
Willaim set down his quill and gazed slowly over the letter. Taking a long drink from the wine bottle, he rolled up the letter and proceeded to press a hot wax seal onto it, sealing the message. Then donning his hat and white Weave Master cloak, and sheathing his sword, he left the Istari Tower, heading to the Flaming Fist headquarters. Upon entering, he hands the letter to a clerk.
“Give this to Kahlen, as soon as you see him.”
He leaves without another word, returing to the Weave Tower and informing Exarch Nahum of his delivering of the message and the fufilment of his promise to Markon.
///This message is also posted in the Flaming Fist Role play thread.

A note, delivered by a small boy to the guard outside the Istari Tower reads: [shadow=red,left,300]" Nahum,
I have spoken with Kahlen, and everything was understood. I dont know what you, the Weave Masters or Kahlen will do now, but I, Ujio, am leaving the Sword Coast and this city. Something very dear to me was lost, and I need to find it again.
It is my only hope to heal this wretched wound. Forgive me for my sin. I asked the same of Kahlen, but I do not expect him to do so.
If my quest is fruitful, I will return here. But I will only do so when I can be the man I once was. Not these remains I am now.
Farewell for now.
Ujio"[/shadow]

Nahum, I regret to report that what looks to be Zhentarim assassins took my life in behind Jorn's fields today. It is only thanks to the Fists' apothecary that I am breathing now. When I came to there were many surrounding me, including Berel, and as I realised later thanks to some comments by another, the vampire I spoke of. Whom I now have a name for. I have to consider that they had something to do with it. I do not believe Blackstone had anything to do with it, though he was seen standing over my body and was questioned by the Fist. It is far more likely that it was the Zhentarim, and they left a message with the Z they cut into my cheek. My guess is it is retaliation for the part I played in the capture of the woman known as Aeon, but it is possible there may have been other reasons to target me. Both Mortannis and the Apothecary spoke of other recent attacks by the Zhentarim, though with the little they took from me, it is clear I was a target of trained killers that were intent on leaving a message. With three such close calls in so little time, I am beginning to question my skill and ability. How do you wish me to proceed? Signed, Lyra

Captain William entered entrance hall of the Istari Tower in a good mood. He had just returned from Beregost, and the bottom of his cloak was still wet with mud after the morning’s rain. He took his hat off and shook it in the doorway, a cascade of rainwater falling off it and onto the floor. Whistling an old marching song to himself, he then pulled a sheet of parchment from his pack. Holding it before him, he glanced at the wall by the door and quickly proceeded to hang the parchment there, fastening it to the wall by driving a small nail into the mortar between the stones. Stepping back, he admired his handiwork with a grin.
The message reads thus -
“To all Weave Guardians, Scouts, and Masters,
Let it be known that the Weave Tower armory is open to any and all members of the guild in order that they better equip themselves to face the numerous challenges and perils that plague the Sword Coast. Please feel free to take any item you may need.
The only requirement is that when you are finished with or have outgrown the use of said item that you return it to the armory, or loan it to another member if they should need it.
Also, let it be known that any guild members can donate items to the armory if they so wish. Simply give the item to either Exarch Nahum, Overwatch Lyra, or myself and we will take care of the rest.
If you require one of the items from the armory, also simply contact Exarch Nahum, Overwatch Lyra, or myself. We generally carry some of them with us, and if not we can acquire the wished for item for you.
Attached to the bottom of this notice is the current inventory of the armory.
May Mystra guide your path,
Captain William Fredrickson”
/// I was thinking that it would be useful to post what items everyone has that they would be willing to give to other guild members. William has quite a few weapons he doesn’t need, and I know that Lyra does as well. The two of us discussed this at length the other day. Perhaps this would be a good way to keep track of things? If a member would like one of the items listed, all they would have to do is talk to one of the heads of the three different Weave Master orders, who could keep the items in their inventories and available for the members of the guild. We could just RP having an armory, as I don’t believe it’s possible to implement an item storage system on the server at the moment. One could just list what they have available below, then in game give it to either Nahum, Lyra, or myself.
/// The post below shows what Captain William has added to the armory already. What does everyone think? =]
///Also, for the newest memember, keep in mind that when you donate an item to the guild you recieve reputation points, as described in the thread in the Guild Forum.
///On second thought, this might belong in the guild forum too, but I'm not sure. I'll gladly move it if it does =]

William entered the library of the Istari Tower, thinking to find Exarch Nahum inside, studying, but the room was empty. Unless of course one counted the silent golems standing at attention, readying to protect the tower at all costs. Letting out a sigh, William sat down at one of the tables. It was covered in scrolls, and as he glances over them he managed to discern that they were all about the creation of magic portals.
Finding a piece of blank parchment and a quill, William started writing -
“Exarch Nahum,
I hope this letter finds you well. This morning as I returned to the Istari Tower after training some of our guardians out in the Wood of Sharp Teeth I met two interesting characters. The first was a gnome who called himself Doolin Flandlehorn. He claimed to be searching for someone named “Loremaster”. He told me that this man was the greatest Bard in the realms and that this “Loremaster” was in our employ. I must confess that if this is the case, I was not aware of this member of our guild… regardless, the gnome demanded to see him, and handed me a scroll about demanding yet again to see the man, in case I somehow would forget, I believe. Shortly after telling me this, he ran from the Tower in fright, apparently scared by the golems. I don’t think he met any harm, despite somehow sneaking into the Tower in search of me after seeing me enter.
The second fellow I met was also a gnome. His name was Rudo Olaven and stated that he was a mage of minor skill. He sought admittance to our guild and was duly impressed by our Tower, and especially by the golems. I sensed that he was of a good heart, and after explaining our tenets to him he said he would return with the required spell scroll donation. I believe he will make a fine mage one day and I think he would be a valuable member to the Weave Masters. He seem anxious to meet you as well, and wishes to complete the initiation tests as soon as he found a suitable scroll to donate.
In other news, our newest guardians are progressing well. I am continously impressed by Vindex’s martial prowess. He is advancing rapidly and has proved very successful in pushing back several troll raids to the north near the Troll Claws. Sentry Evithyan Silverstar is learning quickly also. I don’t believe I have seen too many men faster with a longsword and I think he will serve the Weave Master’s exceptionally.
Lastly, I must mention that I have been hearing increasing rumors about the Drow lately. Many wandering adventurers claim that they feel another Drow raid will be launched soon, and I am training the guardians very hard so that they will be prepared if such a thing happens. The thought of Keagan’s body still remaining in the Underdark still troubles me greatly, and I await with anticipation the discovery of a passage or a portal to be discovered that will lead to the foul city in which he died.
May Mystra guard your path,
Captain William”
When he is finished, William slides the note under the door of the Exarch’s chamber.

To all Weave Masters: As Elias and Lilly will no doubt tell you as well, there have been a number of dopplegangers in the area recently. These creatures assume the shape of another, and so far have taken the shapes and forms of Elias, Berel, and Syldra. A much larger group was seen and slain in their original forms. PLEASE BE EXTREMELY WARY of everyone you interact with. If you are sure they are who they look like, come up with a question or code only they would know. As they have been connected to the Zhentarim, any additional information would be highly useful if anyone comes across anything about the Zhentarim, or this Manshoon. It takes sharp eyes to see the difference between the real person and the doppleganger. Their skin is a slightly duskier colour, but with any enchantments that becomes excedingly difficult to spot. If anyone can come up with a magical means of identifying the dopplegangers, that would be greatly appreciated. -Lyra

A notice hangs inside the lobby at Istari Tower.
Fellow Weavemasters,
Let it be known that two upstanding sorcerers have joined our ranks as Adepts. Their names are Samah Sinistrad, and Vlen Valmorri. It is my belief that they will be a wonderful addition to our order. They both have demonstrated an equal knowledge of the Weave, as well as some martial prowess. When you meet them please give them a hearty welcome, as I know you all will.

A ship from Waterdeep arrives in the port of Baldur's Gate. Upon arrival a messenger hurries to Istari Tower to hand deliver a note to Nahum. He refuses to give it to any other than Nahum, and waits for him to accept it....
