In response to the Exarchs post on the mesage boards.
Arnoth Detrianl leader of the Thayan Trade Commision in the region catchs word of the notice and penns a letter to Nauhm.
"I will be glad to meet with you in person and grant you visual access to the copies of the documents that we have with the dukes of Baldurs Gate and the Merchants League detailing what magics we can and cannot make accessable to the public.
I will not deny many Thayans delve into the arts of necromancy, but this is only to further understand the full extent of the Weave. Further more I assure yoy that my entire staff is comprised of servants to the Zulkirs of Abjuration and Transmutation, and that all of our members includeing myself are prohibited from the use of the necromantic school of magic.
I can be contacted at my office in the Merchant Leauge Compoud or at the site of oru up and coming Enclave."

Just outside of Istari Tower, a sentry attempts in vain to express his apologies to an excited dark-haired young woman. "I'm sorry mi'lady. He is away on business to the south." "That's what you always tell me! What's he building this tower for if he's going to live in the "south"? Hmm? Tell me. The sentry spreads out his hands in a helpless gesture. Are you sure he's not about? He won't mind talking to me. Are you afraid he'll bite you for bothering him? Why south anyway? Why isn't he ever in the north? You aren't a very good fibber! I'll tell you what. You let me in to see him and I'll tell him what a brave fellow you are. That'll earn you a promotion and...." "Lady. For the umpteenth time, he's not here!" "Well if you're going to be stubborn about it I'll make you bring him a note." She pauses a moment to write a brief message. "Here you go. Good day sir! She flashes a cheerful grin as she turns and dashes away. The sentry lets out a long sigh as the flow of words finally stops but he dutifully takes the note and deposits it for Nahum's later viewing. Nahum,
I'll bet you've guessed too but I know where that dragon's horde has to be. Of course the Wizards that killed him must have known all along that it's in that old abandoned mine.
Cheers! Sheritomo
Returning from one of his frequent visits to Candlekeep, Nahum receives the letter from Sheritomo and reads it in his chambers. He seems pleased that it came from his dear friend but a look of dismay arrives as he reads the letter itself. Hmmm... The Red Wizards have both the body of the slain wyrm AND its treasures. There is much that can be done with components derived from a red dragon and not all of them are good. Its treasures will only help them gain a foothold to this land however and this is even more distressing. He pens a letter to Sheritomo and delivers it via messenger. ~~~~~ooo~~~~~
Shero,
Thank you for your visit and I do apologize for my absence. My studies and duties seem to keep me everywhere but here although my heart is gladdened nonetheless at the hearing of your visit. I am glad that you were able to find the lair that we sought but am dismayed by the results. I fear that the Red Wizards will use the wyrm's treasures to gain their foothold here and we have no legal recourse to prevent it. We need to be vigilant when it comes to them. I can only hope that they will be careless and give us actionable material against them.
Your friend, Nahum~~~~~ooo~~~~~

Seemingly unaware of the letter posted in front of Elf Song, Nahum found it strange that the Lead Thayan of the Trade Liaison wrote him a personal letter of invitation. His Weave Scouts sent early word of the enclave being set up before the rest of the population knew and it troubled him much. He did not like Red Wizards much for they represented... epitomized greed and abuse of the Weave to Nahum. Still, he knew them to be a crafty sort and setting up a business is not against the law of the lands. He sits back and ponders. He then dips his quill in some ink and pens a letter in response. ~~~~~ooo~~~~~ To: Arnoth Detrian, Lead Thayan Trade Liason
It is of some dismay to hear the arrival of your delegation to this land. Please understand the lack of welcome you will receive for Thay is not known for their kindness and generosity. Your land's heavy reliance on slavery is also a source of intense contention and one can only suppose of its taint upon your goods.
That being said, I will accept your invitation to review your documentations and agreements. Do not think me so easily swayed however for I am well aware of trafficking that can lie underneath facades of legitimacy. Rid yourself of any intentions you have of bringing the plagues of your land to ours.
Signed, Weave Exarch Nahum

The Weave sentry is appalled when he sees the loquacious Kara-Turan approaching. As his luck would have it, Nahum had departed just 15 minutes earlier. He immediately launches into profuse apologies but is cut short when she shoves a rolled up parchment into his hands.
"No need for the long explanations. Just hand this over when he gets back. You can do that can't you? Good! Thank you so much!"
Nahum,
That bad huh? I'll confess I haven't a clue as to what the Thayans are like. Well if that's the case then I suppose it wouldn't hurt if they started having unexpected problems of their own. Cheer up Nahum! There's no need to sit around waiting while they call all the shots.
I likely won't be at the Elfsong for a few days in case you get the idea of dropping by. I've got some goods to sell and that'll keep me on the road awhile.
In friendship, Sheritomo

*Kahlen does not respond to the Exarch's summons, instead sending a brief letter via Naryldur* Exarch, I apologize for my failure to heed your summons directly, but I can no longer bring myself to enter the city I have called home without great discretion. The ease by which the two drow have been accepted into our region by our “guard” greatly sickens me, and I fear their failure to see the error of doing so will lead to more innocent deaths. The bounty now posted on other drow does nothing to ease my discomfort and I wrestle with how to proceed. I fear the turmoil in my heart is changing me, and the fire in my soul is growing too hot to extinguish without action… Kahlen Wyndsoul *The letter appears to have several blotches and smudges after the text, suggesting that Kahlen had thought to write more but couldn’t figure out what to say* It has been a few days since the news of the protected drow has reached the city, and with the latest buzz comes even more news.. Kahlen Wyndsoul, Overwatch of the Weave Scouts, is rumored to be outraged at what he sees as a disgusting abomination of law in letting the drow roam freely. He has not been seen in the city in days, which is remarkable considering the final construction of the Istari Tower, and those that claim to have seen him in the wilds say that he was dressed darker, seemed morose, and did not greet them. One local trader claims to have witnessed Kahlen attack a small gathering of Ogres with brutality never seen in his actions. Another saw him kneeling at what appeared to be a makeshift altar but when approached he quickly vanished into the wood.. the only thing left behind was a small token of devotion to the elven god Shevarash... Those that know Kahlen know that his mother was killed by a drow, and those that were at the Duchal Palace when Malkar revealed himself as half-drow know that Kahlen considers any with the taint of that race responsible... Nahum reads Kahlen's missive and grows concerned. It seems to reinforce the rumors that he has been hearing. Within short time, he pens a letter to Keagan, Kahlen's brother. ~~~~~ooo~~~~~ Keagan,
I am concerned your brother. I have not seen him much as of late and the rumors that have reached my ears do not lend much comfort. I fear that his delving with the plane of Shadows have contribute to these things should the rumors be true. What information do you have of his state? Please send him my regards and concern. Let him know that I am here should he wish to talk about the things that ail him.
Signed, Nahum~~~~~ooo~~~~~

*a scroll is placed in a hollowed out stump near the cloakwood, a drop point for communication between Keagan and Kahlen*
Keagan,
My brother.. I apologize for going missing without warning. You must understand, after what happened to our mother I simply could not tolerate those BEASTS being accepted to live among us. Drow are an abomination of the Seldarine’s true beauty and should be destroyed without thought… my intention was to exterminate the threat, whatever the personal cost may have been, and did not want to drag you down with me. It seems that I did not react soon enough, however, because the ‘accepted’ drow were killed by their own. More evidence of their brutality.
I am only now beginning to understand that my faith in the ‘law’ of this land was misplaced and that those in power know not what they do… I am hesitant to come back to the city and pretend to agree with those we are currently allied with. The Weave Masters, and Exarch Nahum in particular, have been good to us.. but it may be best if I stay away for a time. I fear how I may react and I do not wish to bring any shame or distrust upon you or our family name.
I will await you at our designated rendezvous, I have gifts from my travels and wish to see my brother again.
In Arms and in Blood, Kahlen

A young farm boy with a large smile delivers a scroll to the sentry outside of Istari Tower.. as he strolls away he tosses a gem in the air and catches it before running off…
Exarch,
It is with a troubled heart that I pen this letter. My absence from our tower has been intentional, as I am troubled by the actions of our allies – the Dukes and their Fist – and their careless acceptance of drow openly living among our civilization. The drow race is an abomination that should be eradicated, not left to fester openly in ANY city. I feel the hatred and the shadows strengthen my body, but yet know that this new strength is best left away from the city until I can regain control.
The drow I sought to destroy were killed by their own kind, but my hunt continues. I will do all it takes to rid our realm of this threat, or die trying…

Nahum goes over the reports sent in by Lyra and the letter by Kahlen. It troubled him that Kahlen has allowed his vengeance and hate to consume him. Though the drow are definitely to be feared and mistrusted, Nahum worries more so for Kahlen's soul. Pausing to offer prayers to Ilmater, Nahum seeks grace upon Kahlen for this darkness to be taken from him. Then turning to Lyra's Weave Scout reports, Nahum pauses and then pens a missive to her. ~~~~~ooo~~~~~
Weave Seeker Lyra,
I thank you once more for your vigilance and diligence in your reports. My contacts in the Flaming Fist have informed me that this gnome you speak of was killed as he evaded capture. Though I cannot speak on the details, I am sure the Fist soldiers must have found their lives in peril to use deadly force.
As for this drow you speak of. It was truly foolish for those men to argue about the drow's possible innocence. Turning their back on it almost proved their death. Do not be as easily fooled. The drow's deceit is deep and may attempt to befriend you. The extreme rare occasion will exist of course of those that follow Elistrae but do not count on it. You will not be faulted if you erred on the side of caution. Continue to seek out where they are coming from. I am certain the entrance to the Underdark is near.
As for Kahlen, I worry for him as well. I do fear as his brother does. Keep on the look out for him and see if you can assuage him. Until then, I may ask you to fill in for his duties.
May the Weave protect you. Exarch Nahum ~~~~~ooo~~~~~

This letter was pinned on the front door of the weave tower this morning: ----oo---- Deer Exarch Nahum, I was glad yesterday to be some help guiding your group throughout the troll cave in hope to find clues about the son of bahum. During this adventure I was quite impressed in your abilities and how well you have been handling the situation in the canyon by revealing the true faces of our enemies. I would love to further help you and the weave with my talents of scout. Know that I am a swift archer and that I have learned those skills from my family and during my past adventures. I would be pleased to serve your cause. The little gnome. Chloe Kiwie ----oo---- OOC: I'm not the best in english, you must excuse me if I have done some faults.

I must confess however that your assessment of me is quite humbling. Seek me out and I would be pleased initiate you. All that is needed is an arcane scroll of a non-trivial nature ((2nd level or above)) as a token of your commitment in contribution to the guild. Your abilities will then be assessed to find a suitable rank to bring you in.
Sincerely, Exarch Nahum

(((Don't worry about your english. As long as you try to role-play, you'll be fine. It might actually be a good way to strengthen your english. I wish I was fluent in another language like you are. )))

After the Lathanderian cleric named Davian discovered that no curse has beset Lyra, Nahum grows even more concerned for he sensed no presence of magic that would affect her voice. Perhaps that was the problem then! Perhaps the innate magic within Lyra...or Keagan for that matter has been devoured by this Nisharuu that not hunt the Weave Masters. They both have elven heritage and perhaps all this is connected. Even so, this does little in finding a cure. He then pens a missive to his Teacher for guidance. ~~~~~ooo~~~~~ Master Elminster,
I beseech your time and attention to a problem I have on hand. I will keep this short in respect for your time. As you may already know, my guild has been beset on all sides by the enemies of Baldur's Gate and of this land. This most recent threat is one I have yet to encounter. We are being hunted by the dark outsiders called Nisharuus. I am still uncertain why such devils have come to pursue us but two of my guild kin have been affected already. My Weave Captain Keagan has been drained of his strength and one my Weave Scouts, Lyra, has lost her ability for audible speech.
A Lathanderian cleric has told me that perhaps the only way for Keagan's strength or Lyra's voice to return is to find the devil that took them. Is this so or are you able to restore them yourself? If not the latter, can you aid us in finding or bringing this beast to us? No tome I possess or have ever read reveal anything but mere references when it comes to the Nisharuu. I seek your counsel and assistance as you may have it.
Your attention in these matters are appreciated.
Your Apprentice, Nahum

A neatly written letter arrives at the Istari Tower, brought by a hired messenger. It reads –
“ To Exarch Nahum (or whomever it may concern),
Greetings and Salutations, esteemed sir! I hope this message finds you in good health. My name is William Fredrickson. I’m not sure if you would recall me, but we met once on the Trade Way, a few miles south of Baldur’s Gate. You teleported into the area nearby while I was having a conversation with my friend, Sheritomo.
It has recently come to my attention that your organization, the Weave Masters, is looking for able-bodied folk to enlist as Weave Guardians. After speaking to a few of my acquaintances, I believe that I would be interested in such a position in your organization.
As to my qualifications… I’ve had considerable army training and experience in my past, and for the last few months I have travelled up the length and breadth of the Sword Coast. I am greatly skilled the way of the sword, and am passable enough with any other weapons. I have no objection to following orders, and am quite physically fit.
I feel I must inform you however, lest you find out to your dissatisfaction later, that the army experience that I mentioned was served on behalf of the city of Luskan. I know Luskan has an infamous reputation when it comes to spellcasters, and that the Host Tower of the Arcane is looked upon with suspicion and disdain by many. I wish to assure you that while I did serve as lower-ranking officer in the Luskan army, I in no way continue any association with it, nor the Host Tower of the Arcane.
I hope you would find my inclusion with the Weave Guardians acceptable and profitable. I would gladly wish to serve your cause and do so with the upmost loyalty.
Thank you for your time, William Fredrickson
Post Script: If you wish to contact me, please send a message to me at the Elfsong. I’m currently lodging there.”

This message has been pinned down on the board inside the weave master tower. You can read: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To all Weave Scouts,
A hidden assailant attacked one of our own and disappeared into the darkness. Be on the look out for any that lurk in the shadows that seem to have an interest in the Weave Masters. Find out what you can.
Exarch Nahum sends.

an odd note is found attached to one of the iron golems' kneecapsdear blanket people, i got told that you guys do magics and can make good stuff. zeb casts magics. zeb can make good stuff. so zeb wants a job. zeb wants a giant metal man. zeb wants a sandwich too. stomach's making sounds again. maybe head blanket knows a good place to get one. one that uses fresh stuff, cause nothing hurts more than eating rotten food. lotsa beer sometimes helps, but it's kinda messy. unless you got people to clean up. maybe you do, cause you sure got a big place here. how much you gotta pay in rent? cause zeb would like a big building too. from zeb The odd note is found by Nahum as he passes the golems. He stops and looks at quizzically. "Blanket People?" All of sudden, he laughs to himself as he realizes the confusion. He sends for a Weave Scout and relays a verbal message. "Please locate this man named Zeb. Let him know that I am willing to meet with him. Take this money pouch and buy him a meal as well. Thank you."
