A neatly written letter arrives at the Istari Tower, brought by a hired messenger. It reads – “ To Exarch Nahum (or whomever it may concern),
Greetings and Salutations, esteemed sir! I hope this message finds you in good health. My name is William Fredrickson. I’m not sure if you would recall me, but we met once on the Trade Way, a few miles south of Baldur’s Gate. You teleported into the area nearby while I was having a conversation with my friend, Sheritomo.
It has recently come to my attention that your organization, the Weave Masters, is looking for able-bodied folk to enlist as Weave Guardians. After speaking to a few of my acquaintances, I believe that I would be interested in such a position in your organization.
As to my qualifications… I’ve had considerable army training and experience in my past, and for the last few months I have travelled up the length and breadth of the Sword Coast. I am greatly skilled the way of the sword, and am passable enough with any other weapons. I have no objection to following orders, and am quite physically fit.
I feel I must inform you however, lest you find out to your dissatisfaction later, that the army experience that I mentioned was served on behalf of the city of Luskan. I know Luskan has an infamous reputation when it comes to spellcasters, and that the Host Tower of the Arcane is looked upon with suspicion and disdain by many. I wish to assure you that while I did serve as lower-ranking officer in the Luskan army, I in no way continue any association with it, nor the Host Tower of the Arcane.
I hope you would find my inclusion with the Weave Guardians acceptable and profitable. I would gladly wish to serve your cause and do so with the upmost loyalty.
Thank you for your time, William Fredrickson
Post Script: If you wish to contact me, please send a message to me at the Elfsong. I’m currently lodging there.”Impressed by the educated verbiage and professional writing, Nahum returns a reply in kind. ~~~~~ooo~~~~~ William,
Yes, I do seem to remember meeting your acquaintance those many days ago. And I do recall that you were a friend of Shero's as well. Given your professional training, I am humbled that you would consider to join our numbers. I am quite certain that your discipline and background will be a boon to the Weave Guardians and to the guild as a whole.
As for the source of your military training, I will not count it against you. Your forthrightness and your friendship with Shero speaks volumes of your character. When you are able, seek me or my Weave Captain, Keagan. An arcane scroll of a non-trivial nature ((2nd lvl or above)) will be required of you as a token of your willingness to contribute to your fellow guildsmen. Your abilities will then be tested to see to it that you are placed into a position befitting your prowess.
May the Weave protect you until next we meet.
Respectfully, Exarch Nahum~~~~~ooo~~~~~

Assault on the Thayan Enclave!
Not giving much to explanation, Nahum sends for all the messengers he can summon and dispatches them throughout Baldur's Gate to seek his guildsmen. A copy is also sent to Daelthrien,a leader amongst the Rangers, and Tarsakh, an ally within the forests. ~~~~~ooo~~~~~ Guildsmen,
It is in dire straits that this message is penned. If news has not already reached your ears, our tower has once again been attacked. Those accursed Red Wizards used their great deceit and magic to enter our sanctuary undetected and now the Gift of Mystra has been taken from us. Do not fret if this Gift is new news to you. It has been hidden from conversation to avoid such an occurrence as this but I fear it was all for naught.
I will keep this missive short. The Thayans have been thus banished from our lands and the dukes have given us their consent to take back what was stolen from us. The dukes however could not promise us aid in personnel. Gather your supplies and those that you trust, and only those that you trust, in preparation for our assault. Know that this is not a battle reaped from vengeance. The Gift of Mystra must not fall in Thayan hands! Expect this to be a great battle so prepare your defenses. The Red Wizards will prove to be a formidable foe.
Time is of the essence! We gather tonight. The Red Wizards will return what was stolen or their enclave will fall by the might of our magic. Your Exarch, Nahum Ithilduin~~~~~ooo~~~~~ (((Thanks WWW for the event and curse those secret DM sense motive rolls!))) (((Event is supposed to happen at 12am-2am EST. Hope you guys can make it. EDIT: Let's meet at Istari Tower and head south from there. It'll give the DM opportunities to stop our advance. I may be a late so if 12:30 am rolls around and I'm not there (and "Mystra" is there), you can go ahead.)))[/b]

* The pigeon was received by Tarsakh, As he reads the letter his face grows grim. He quickly scribes a letter and attaches it to the pigeons leg and sends it back to the Exarch. Watch the bird fly away in the direction of the the city he begins to chant a soft chant which slowly turns to the sound of music. The tree leaves begin to rustle as the wind picks up and carries the message of tarsakhs chant to all ears understanding Druidic language.*

As Nahum quietly prepares for the assault on the Thayan Enclave, he recalls a promise he has made. He takes a quill and pens a letter to his teacher. ~~~~~ooo~~~~~ Master Elminster, I am unsure when you will receive this missive for you seem often traveling or busy with matters. Nonetheless, may this arrive before you in due time. As you may know or will yet to hear, I travel south this eve to assail the Red Wizards' enclave to take back the Gift of Mystra. If you are able, your presence will bring me great comfort as I fear that this battle may more than my guildsmen, allies, and I can handle.
If this missive should not find its way to you in time, I have another request. There is a woman named Fae'linn that has requested our aid in a matter that the magic of your apprentice cannot solve. She and her friend seem to be in grave danger and is hunted into hiding. She has approached me on several occasions seeking word of news but I have yet to find direct audience with you. In short, she is requesting for a way to be polymorphed permanently into a form that will give her and her companion rest.
Despite her secrecy, I cannot sense any wrong or deceit in her. Would it be possible to grant audience with her? I know your time is limited and the request great. I would be humbled at the granting of this request.
Your apprentice, Nahum Ithilduin ~~~~~ooo~~~~~

Sitting outside of Candlekeep staring at the water, Elias is startled by the young man that approaches him. Nearly out of breath the youngling hands the scholar a scroll with the mark of the Weavemasters on it. Elias reaches under his robes and flips the lad a coin for his service. The young one watches as Elias opens the scroll, and begins to read. As he does his brow furrows deeply, and his eyes have a troubled look about them.
"If ye don't mind me askin, is everything alright sir? What's happenin?" With a warm smile Elias turns to the lad as he gathers his staff, and begins to walk away, "We are going to do something we should have done a long time ago".

This message has been pinned down on the board inside the weave master tower. You can read: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To all weave scouts,
We are on a new mission, we must find any clues and information concerning the formation of a new assassin guild in Baldur's Gate.
From your superior, Exarch Nahum
Seeker Chloe~~~~~~~~~~~~~ /////Can this be erased, I dont think anyone knows anything about this IC.. I agree. The assassin's guild has always been around in the city even though the inductions of players is fairly recent. I would caution provoking war against the thieves or assassins expecially since a member is not likely to tell you they belong. There are many assassins out there that aren't a part of the "guild".

////I can erase it if you guys want. I personally didn't think a post would come out of it. It wasn't intended to be an all out war or assassin hunting party. It stemmed from a slight-handed comment that stemmed from a WM being attacked out of the blue by a professional assassin. (Something along the lines of "It may be wise to look into this") If you look at the Weave Scout mission, they're supposed to look into any potential threats to the guild. Anyway, just PM me and I can have it deleted. ON EDIT: Edited the original post in question.

Worn and tired, Nahum surmises that he's been hard at work for too long. Given the recent battle against the Thayans, Nahum decides to take some extended rest. He considers writing a long memo of his departure but then smiles and scribbles a small note instead. He packs up some equipment and heads off into the wilderness. Posted on the door is a small note with a short message: ~~~~~ooo~~~~~ Gone Fishing.
Signed, Exarch Nahum ~~~~~ooo~~~~~

*William enters the Istari Tower and looks around for one of the Exarchs. Noticing Nahum’s note about being absent, he quickly writes the Exarch a letter and slides it under the door to his quarters. * “Exarch Nahum,
I hope this message finds you in the best of health, and that you have enjoyed your time away from the guild. Unfortunately, I have some dire news to report.
Following the long battle with the Thayans, I sought to take a rest as well. I decided to camp amongst the hilltop ruins south of Baldur’s Gate. After setting up a tent I made preparations to start cooking a meal. However, my respite was suddenly interrupted by a cruel laugh that broke the tranquility of the afternoon. I spun about and reached for my sword, only to find a sphere of blackness descend over the ruins. Once it had vanished, a vampire was found standing in its place. She proceeded to converse with me… *William’s account on the event follows* theswordcoast.proboards89.com/index.cgi?board=characterbiography&action=display&thread=1371&page=1 /// link to William’s story on the event .
I thought it best to inform you of this event as quickly as possible. From what this vampire told me, I can only conclude that several of the members of the Weave Masters, if not all, are included on this “death list”. Whoever this foul creature’s master is must be discovered, or I fear that more members of the guild may be attacked soon.
The vampire also claimed that I apparently know whoever this master of its was, and have met them on several occasions. I don’t know exactly who it could be, but the vampire’s mention of its master as “one with the shadow,” reminds me of a man I have encountered before whom is clad in dark armor and is fond of casting a spell of darkness upon his entrance and exit. This man I speak of frequently travels with a dwarf of ill-repute, named Grundin. Perhaps there is a connection between this man I have encountered and this “master” the vampire spoke of, but I can’t be sure.
Regardless, I have decided it best to return to the tower. I await your orders, Exarch.
Respectfully yours,
William Fredrickson - Weave Guardian Defender”

Nahum stretches just before he reaches the tower doors. He enters, taps the golem with his staff as he always does, and begins to head upstairs to his room. He takes a quick peek inside the library to ensure they weren't attacked and the books used as a bonfire. A quick grin escapes his lips. He pulls his "Gone Fishing" sign from his chamber door and enters. After putting his belongings back, he takes the stack of reports on his desk and takes a seat. He reads them and considers his reply. ~~~~~ooo~~~~~ William,
This is grim news indeed. I have received reports of a necromancer from other sources as well that seems to be targeting us. The first order I send is one of caution. Do not travel alone in the wilderness if it is possible. Our enemies will strike at us when we are least ready. Secondly, we must find the identity of this undead master. If he or she has the power to control vampires, it will only be a matter of time before dark outsiders will be summoned to our world. Such abuse of the Weave and threat against our guildsmen should be stopped.
You were right to send word to me directly. The Fists have much on their plate and threats against our guild should be first cared for by fellow kin. I will send word to the others. We cannot be caught unaware.
Signed, Exarch Nahum
~~~~~ooo~~~~~
~~~~~ooo~~~~~ Lyra,
Send word to Durak the Red that I am willing to meet with him but I must confess that I know little of Soul Splitters. I will do some research on the matter however and can hopefully send some light on the subject.
Your discoveries in the Enclave ruins baffles me however. ((Who was the DM for it so I can see if I can read the runes)) Githyanki and the Illithid are mortal enemies and perhaps their presence at the site is related to signs of Illithid at the enclave ruins. Do not mistake them as friends however. They are not necessarily friendly to our cause. This place you later entered sounds strikingly like the Astral Plane. It is the home of the githyanki. I do not know why such a portal was opened and why but perhaps this information will prove helpful at a future time.
Continue to find out what you can. Send word to the other Weave Scouts. I was encouraged to hear that you saw Kahlen but until his full return, I will continue to use you in his stead. Please send him my well wishes for his return should you see him again.
Signed, Exarch Nahum

A short memorandum is issued to Lyra to be distributed to the Weave Scouts. ~~~~~ooo~~~~~
Weave Scouts,
Locate the drow named Raenier and follow him. He claims knowledge of the location of the drow city and his presence here may signal the beginning of more drow attacks. Though he claims peace, his words are weighed with doubt. Do not engage him unless it becomes necessary. Find out what you can about him and what he knows. The information he holds is more value than his life.
Signed, Exarch Nahum~~~~~ooo~~~~~

This missive was attached to the neck of a badger outside Baldur's Gate waiting for Lyra to find it.
~~~~~oooo~~~~~
Deer Nahum,
As you ordered, I followed the strange man Reanir to the Underdark. After a few minutes sneaking into the caves, I heard a large noise coming in the direction we came from as the ground was shacking under my foot. I ran back to see what happened when I found the entrance was blocked by a large rock that felt from the roof cave, leaving a really small hole the size of a small animal to escape.
I took my pencil and wrote this letter in hope Lyra could find it attached to the neck of a badger that I called for my rescue.
I got enough papers and ink to map my way into the darkness in hope I will be able to deliver more important information in the near future.
Seeker Chloe.
