Alright...geez-la-weez! I've been thinkin about this XP deal and how everyone wants a LvL30 epic Character...CHECK THIS OUT!!! I've looked though my heroes and Villians lorebooks and this is what I see...
Heroes: Adon 9th priest of Mystra Alias 8th fighter Alicia Kendrick 7th Druid Alustreil Silverhand 24th Mage King "freakin" Azoun 20th fighter Bruenor battlehammer 13th fighter Cadderly 20th priest of Deneir Catti-brie 6th fighter Danilo Thann 13th bard Dove falconhand 14th ranger Dragonbait 8th paladin Drizzt Do'urden 16th ranger ELMINSTER 29th mage Khelben Arunsun 27th mage
Villians: Sememmon 15th mage Manshoon 19th mage Jarlaxle 17th fighter Szass Tam 29th Mage Kymil Nimesin 12th fighter
The list goes on for both...My point being that not one lvl 30 NPC exists in Realmslore (with the exception of Larloch) All of these characters have done epic things in the novels they were in...Your character is what you make of it.

no one, certainly not me.
hopefully you would craft the perm-death system so things this are greatly reduced.
and i would suggest it only affects epic, which would be very hard to kill from a single lag spike when battling a mob. when you fight pvp you take your risks.
it's fine to offer suggestions for possible problems that need to be resolved or addressed but to offer straw-men as reasons for not trying is a distraction.

There are huge gaps in the lore of many of those NPCs, I'm guessing they were grinding between novels

One thing I just thought of about the solo XP being so low...
This will really hurt the Flaming Fist who often patrol solo. There are not enough of them that it's likely two will be together and they aren't going to wait for adventurers to tag along with them.

You are all missing my meaning I do not want things handed to me or to be easier.
What I want is to play a game not work the game.
I like to have fun and RP- I hate RPing a reason for killing 900 thousand of the same creature over and over again. I just want to be a casual player who has some decently leveled characters.
Also! I do not see how making creatures that require power builds to beat but also give little to no xp for beating them discourages powerbuilding grinders.
Also! I hate and dispise the idea of Epic level charcters I usually like a Lv cap of 20 and having that be terribly hard to get to and in very low magic enviroments as well which is one of the reasons I loved the original Baldur's Gate Tales of the Sword Coast was the level cap was like 9 and your weapons +1 kicked serious ass and gave you the feeling of being a true adventurer not some magical spikey brightly colored guy who has the Aura of hearts and lightning and blue sparklies all over him with his hammer of doom +9 and his Armor of Flamboyant Green Spikes.
The server seems to have a double standard with discouraging the leveling process and power building but everything requiring high levels and powerbuilds to accomplish.

I think my ongoing suggestion would help a lot without pissing anyone off...
Put XP back to the way it was, and script the 'Level Up' function to be restricted to twice per real week. XP would continue to accumulate for the grinding types, and everyone could see a consistent level advancement for their character that wouldn't be TOO fast. The RPers wouldnt have to figure out how to RP with someone who went from 1-20 in a week (*why did I save that guy from wolves a few days ago, he just summoned a balor*), but grinders wouldnt be inhibited from racking up the xp they love so dearly.
Its a win-win as far as I can see, I just dont know how hard it would be to script/implement.

well here are the real #'s for a run through the minotaurs for my 7 weap master/6 fighter/4 wizzy...
I lived to kill 7 and gained 56 experience points for my effort.
I died running from the 8th one.
i couldn't rest because there is a 10 hour rest timer.
when i died I lost 2697 experience points.
I now need to kill 337 Minotaurs to get my experience back...but wait, I can't even stay alive through 8 of them...
So. What do I do? I guess I'll roll a cleric.
Not happy right now

Hehe, I think one thing we can alla gree on is that it will never be right. I agree. We do need more powerful monster to fight though for epics. I can solo frosties and do party often to help other but get less xp that way. Epic monsters would be nice as it would we worth while for epics to group with epics.

My character only parties with certain individuals. Its in his nature not to trust many. I have been very happy with the server until some of the recent changes.
