THAC0 is the equivalent of an attack bonus, not an enhancement bonus. I felt an attack bonus of +5 and no damage bonus would be kind of useless (not to mention it wouldn't overcome the defenses of some enemies that require an enhancement bonus to be damaged by the weapon) and that an enhancement bonus of +5 was too powerful considering the original weapon didn't have a damage bonus at all. But then again, those are merely suggested stats, trying to keep some balance. And bear in mind that I mentioned that it should only be used by melee characters because spellcasters have no need for such a weapon.

Monk. Weapons. Sorry... COOL. MONK. WEAPONS. I'm not actually sure what the selection is here. I saw the spiked knuckles(?) in candlekeep which were nice. Basically anything to break the kama, fist, shuriken trinity of doom weapon choice. Mostly a flavor thing to be honest =X Aside: Those cursed boots of phasing from bg 2 always cracked me up. Put them on Minsc and watch him become a teleporting dervish of death. "Jump on my sword evil! I won't be as gentle!" "GO FOR THE EYES BOO!!! GO FOR THE EYES!!! RAAAAAAAAAAAAARR!!! *squeek squeek!*" *edit : called minsc, mince. I am ashamed. Oh so very ashamed.*

Going back to the earlier posts regarding items that should not be ingame:
I heard mention of gems of seeing being available someplace. I've yet to locate the proper store so I haven't actually seen the item but I hope it's a 1/per day sort of item. Anything more than that will completely destroy the effectiveness of invisibility (which already suffers enough due to the bug).

I'm not sure if it was mentioned (I didn't see them anywhere and I'm not sure how feesible it is), so I'll throw this out and see where where it lands:
Legendary Weapons
There is a whole WotC publication on these weapons. Essentially (for those of you not in th eknow) they are weapons that upgrade, or level with you the player. This could also tie some players into quests as some weapons require rites/rituals to unlock abilities.
Again...I'm not even sure if this is even possible to do in the given format.

I agree with tapemeasure, weapons with a minds of their own that can be consistently improved through quests and rituals and other such events is a great idea if it's possible.

I have seen a few recent discussions of char balance, and this would go a long way to remedying that. Reuseable items that non caster can use, even if it would require UMD. Another thought to offsetting casters' ability to use GMW would be to add additional damage to weapons specificly for melee prcs. For example a +2 longsword with 1d6 divine damage only useable by divine champions. Most multiclassesed EKs or clerics are not going to be able to obtain certain melee prestige classes due to the requirements (WM, DL, IB, FB, BG, DC etc)
I have a 15th level rogue/fb who should be able to dish out huge amounts of damage using sneaks, str damage and power attack. However with only a +2 weapon and no added damage, his damage is comparable to an EK with a +4 or 5 weapon. Additionally the EK is using every buff like bulls, heroism, and ss, so their defense if virtually impenetrable. While a zerker has no defense, his offense is suppose to offset it.
Perhaps equipping some high level monsters with adamantium weapons, could offset some casters defense, and really wouldnt effect a melee char who's only defense is AC.

Helm, ring, amulet of comprehend languages. For that matter, scripting the spell itself in would be cool. This was one of my favorite and one of the most useful spells of pnp for over 20 years. And while you're at it (tee hee) if monks could be made more pnp style and be able to understand all languages, that would be cool.

Guess i gotta hold your hands here too ... My rogue can use any item in game .. can cast any spell ingame thats on scroll ... its a matter of how you build ... a rogue that cant match any spellcaster/melee build for a short duration is a wrong built rogue ... I can GMW my weapons... Flame them ... Greater stonskin myself etc ... all depends on how you build and where u want to put your skill points ... all of it is for a relatively short duration and costs alot of coin to maintain .. but thats a rogues life...

Upon a successful lore check you not only can tell what language is being used, but what they are saying as well. I know OT wanted to change this, dont know if he got rid of it entirly or just bumped up the DC. -Ice

When I lore-check a language that I would have no way of knowing (like draconic!) I just ignore it. It's nice to know what they are saying for OOC fun, but I think it ruins a cool aspect by knowing a language you shouldnt. I'm goign to run around *shielding eyes* and *running hand through hair* just to throw people off. lol.

your ineptitude at comprehending a language amazes me .. wherein is there any insults other than in your mind cause you cant figure out a game? ... something along the lines of 'look you complete and utter fool' .. is a insult ... "here let me hold your hand"... is a statement of fact and a walkthrough to an enlightened state ... comprehension ... no wonder 90 percent of these threads are crying about a certain class ...
