A gathering of Weave Masters and Guardians seem to waiting in front of their still undeveloped tower at the center of Baldur's Gate, south of ElfSong Tavern. Suddenly, Nahum, the Weave Master Exarch, appears seemingly out of nowhere on a makeshift stage in front of the tower. The small crowd hushes upon his arrival.
"Weave brothers and sister. Thank you for gathering today upon my request. I have a few things I wish to bring to your attention."
He calls up Journeywoman Jadeite before him and faces the rest of the fellowship.
"Let it be known that Journeywoman Jadeite has been conferred the title of Weave Magus. She has proved herself to have mastered the arcane arts and her dedication to the responsible use of the Weave. Her contributions to the guild and to Baldur's Gate has been noted and is in due keeping of the tenets of our guild. Please give her your congratulations and your esteem. All those of lower rank must pay respect warranted to her position.
Weave Magus Jadeite. Let it be known that all rights and responsibilities of your position are conferred upon you. Expectations of a Magus are high although I have little doubt that you will perform well in your new role. Congratulations!"
He then motions for the newly ordained Weave Magus to take her place back unto the crowd and faces the fellowship once more.
"As you all know, our numbers have been growing steadily despite the new arrival of our guild to Baldur's Gate. Exarch Erukus and I have been pleased by the quality of those joining us. On this very day, I am pleased to welcome Weave Attendant Yoesph to our guild. He has chosen Journeyman Svein to be his Primary. Journeyman Svein.... Attendant Yoesph... consider yourselves bound to each other.
And I welcome all those that have joined us these past weeks. Your fellowship has been an encouragement. Continue to preserve the Weave and may it flow through you with ease. May the Weave protect you!"
With his parting words, Exarch Nahum disappeared as suddenly as he arrived.
[edit: changed location of tower]

Receiving congratulations Jadeite decides to make a short speech. Gathered Brethren of the weave. It's a great honour to be promoted into a new role. I wish to thank you all for your support. I will do my best to carry this title to be a living example of a member of our guild. Now if you'll excuse me, but duty calls and I have some prior arrangements to meet. Jadeite rushes out of the room. ///OOC: Read why in the biography thread. www.theswordcoast.proboards89.com/index.cgi?board=characterbiography&action=display&thread=731&page=1#8851

Nahum reflects upon the recent ongoing in relation to membership in the guild.
"It has been a busy week for the guild. Construction of the tower is still in progress and our numbers are growing. Just this past week, two promising mages have joined our fellowship. Another two other are seeking to be its guardians. The first is a man... an Aasimar actually that carries his father's blade in battle. He is a definite curiosity. These half-planar beings are fascinating to behold although I must take care not to be outward with my curiosity lest he think himself an object. I cannot help it at times though. Anyway, his mastery of the arcane is quite developed already. He is no apprentice nor an adept. He will begin as a Journeyman. I am confident that he will learn quickly.
Another named Elias joined us today as well. His motives seem right-minded and already possesses the wisdom to use the Weave responsibly. I tested his abilities today and although he holds much promise, he has much to learn still. I think he will be a fine addition to the fellowship. I will make it a point to train him myself if need be. He shall join our ranks as an Adept.
The other two that seek to be Weave Guardians seem to be brothers... at least they call themselves so. Keagan and Kahlen. One a warrior, the other an archer. They have yet to retrieve me a scroll as a token of their commitment to the Weave Masters but they have already escorted me from my travels from Baldurs' Gate to Beregrost. They seem of good repute and it would do me honor to have them by my side once their initiation is complete.
*Yawn* I tire. Though overseeing construction of the tower and the development of the guild is taking much from me, I am encouraged by our progress. I must remember to pen a notice to the other guild members of the new additions to the guild and remind them of our responsibilities to one another."
With his final thought, the Weave Master Exarch writes a letter to Exarch Erukus of the week's events. He also writes a notice displayed on the tower wall for the other guildsmen to take note of it.
((for guildsmen involved, you can roleplay membership related posts here if you want. I.e. congratulations and/or your own experiences if you were named above. Keep it in character as much as possible please *smiles*)) ((Also, go ahead and make your membership sheets by copying mine if you're a Weave Master. There's a Guardian template there too. Just omit the spells portion if it doesn't apply to you.))

Who would have thought? Ashan questioned himself. For years treated as a slave, hiding his appearance and training, now honoured with a title and respect. Ashan felt as if fate had something to do with the consequential meeting with Nahum. By chance Ashan stumbled across a battle with knights in the fields near Beregost. He offered aid the best way he knew, with his fists. A scroll given to him once meant nothing, but when delivered to perhaps the right person could have just started a series of life changing events. Ashan felt smug, he now had a purpose in these lands far from his own. He swore his life to defending Nahum at all costs, but also to watch over the other Weave Masters. Ashan knew his traits would now be long recognized as a necessary and integral part within the guild. The regular gathering of Weave Masters and Guardians arrive in front of Istari Tower. It is getting closer to completion under Exarch Erukus' supervision. Exarch Nahum arrives to address the ever growing guild.
"Weave brothers and sisters. Thank you for gathering today upon my request. I have a few things I wish to bring to your attention."
He summons Elias, Sion, and Lana before him and faces the rest of the fellowship.
"Let it be known that Adept Elias Goodmane has been conferred the title of Weave Magus. And due to their religious devotion in the study of their Weave, Sion Spellfire and Lana Kelm have been conferred the title of Weave Elite Magus! They have proved themselves to have mastered the arcane arts and their dedication to the responsible use of the Weave. Their contributions to the guild and to defense of the Weave has been noted and is in due keeping of the tenets of our guild. Please give them your congratulations and your esteem. All those of lower rank must pay respect warranted to their position."
He then motions for the newly ordained group to take their place back unto the crowd and summons Keagan and Jhaelen before him.
"Let it be known that Keagan has been been promoted to Weave Defender. He has proven himself more than worthy given his whole-hearted defense to the Weave Masters. As you may know as well, he and his brother has been put to the test only given to the Weave Captain and Overwatch of the guild. May the Weave protect them. Jhaelen also has been brought forth as the guild Lore Master. His legendary possession of lore will be of great assistance in our research of the Weave. He has been a strong promoter of our goals and will prove to be an indispensable resource and brother."
He then motions for Defender Keagan and Lore Master Jhaelen to take their place back unto the crowd and summons Pandoriah before him.
"Although others have joined our fellowship in the recent week as well, I wish to bring the attention of Pandoriah before you. Her history here in Baldur's Gate surpasses even mine own and she has approached me about being one of our Guardians. She has a history and current situation that is unique but I it is not for me to share. I will allow her to do so at her own time. Please feel free to approach her about it. From this point on, she will be known as Weave Defender Pandoriah."
"Now Brethren, more news on the portals and the family Ramset are continuing to flow in. The Weave's balance can be easily upset with such use of it. Be vigilant and be careful. Guardians, be mindful of your charge. Scouts, keep your senses sharp."
"And may the Weave protect you all..."
With his parting words, Exarch Nahum vanishes.

Keagan Wyndsoul enters the room carrying a leather sack dripping a clear ooze. His hair is burnt and skin is bruised. Blood flows freely from a cut above his left eye....
"I have the stalks as you requested." He kneels into a bow, and blood trickles from his lip, "The enemy was great, but my will and dedication to the Weavemasters is greater." His words are hard and labored. Keagan stands slowly favoring one leg. " The second half is yet to be completed, I need rest Exarch Nahum...." And with that Keagan collapses to the ground.

Nahum catches Keagan as he collapses to the ground. Concern, relief, pride, and dire respect fill him all at the same time. Keagan faced and overcame a danger that many a Weave Master would not... could not face alone. Nahum hesitated when he first assigned the Captain's quest fearing that it would claim him. He realized that it was necessary however to prove his worth as the Weave Guardian's Captain. Now, there is no longer doubt. No one will doubt his ability to protect the fellowship and none will doubt his dedication. The second half of the quest is mere child's play at this point.
The Exarch summons some attendants to help Keagan back to his room and tend to his injuries. He orders them to take the finest linens and healing supplies to aid in his recovery. He then stops and prays for Keagan's brother that he too will meet such success.

Weave Captain and Weave Overwatch Ordination
The special gathering of Weave Masters, Guardians, and Scouts arrive in front of Istari Tower. Construction was delayed due to some unforeseen events, but is getting closer to completion under Exarch Erukus' supervision. Exarch Nahum arrives to address the ever growing guild. "Weave brothers and sisters. Thank you for gathering today upon my request. Rumor may have already reached your ears upon the successful completion of the rites given to those worthy to be named Weave Captain and Weave Overwatch of our fellowship." He summons the two brothers before him. Both are dressed in their finest clothing and kneel before the Exarch. "Ever since the establishment of our fellowship in Baldur's Gate, I have been scanning the landscape for individuals with unwavering commitment, renowned skill, and exemplary repute. Though many have joined our numbers, not many stood out. Of those that stood out, two shone above the rest. So much so, that many of the most respected in our guild named two brothers worthy to hold positions of leadership that answer only to the Exarchs themselves." He then looks to Keagan and Kahlen Wyndsoul. "Before I bestow this position to you both. Know that with position comes more responsibility. Keagan, as Weave Captain, you are charged to maintain discipline and training amongst the Guardians. The defense of the fellowship as a whole is now your sworn duty. You are also to care for the Guardians even if it entails reminding Weave Masters of their duties to protect them through their enchantments. Kahlen, as Weave Overwatch, you are to establish and maintain liaisons and contacts with the guilds and factions of the land. You are the eyes and ears through which I... the fellowship will lean upon. You and your scouts will be vigilant above all else." And then he turns to everyone. "And a final charge I not only give to the Wyndsouls, but to all of you. The size and influence of our fellowship has attracted the notice of many. It was an unintended outcome to our prosperity, but it is not one we can ignore. In addition to the threats that plague the Weave and this land seeing us as an adversary, there will be those that will envy us. There will be those that will be concerned that our influence grows too strong. Know this. We are not here for positions of power nor to be arrogant in our successes. We are here to study, protect, and promote the responsible use of the Weave. This is the message we will relay and we will do so with humility. If in our pride, we belittle those around us, we will find ourselves beset with more foes than friends." And then he turns back to the two brothers. "Keagan, stalwart warrior and loyal friend, it is of great honor and privilege that I bestow upon you the title of Weave Captain. Rise and be honored." "And you, Kahlen, hidden companion and everwatching, it is of great honor and privilege that I bestow upon you the title of Weave Overwatch. Rise, too, and be honored." "Now, both of you, face your guildsmen and receive their praise. You have earned your worth and now your new charge awaits!"

As Kahlen turns to the crowd and lowers his hood, his face seems a bit more pale and ashen, his features darker – as if the shadows nearly cling to him. His look is more solemn than normal and his voice takes a somber tone:
“Know this fellow guildmates. As elated as I am to head this new division of our ranks, now is no time for celebration. Now is a time for vigilance, a time for perseverance, and a time for action. As Exarch Nahum has alluded, our very existence as an organization may now be in jeopardy. Within the last tenday we have begun to face this great evil, and some of us still bear the scars. We will not let these attacks stop us. I, and my fellow scouts, will continue to monitor all activities and report our findings regardless of consequence. We will persevere, and we will cleanse this region of this evil.”
With his final word, he grabs his brother’s shoulder, nods lightly to him and steps down and away from the crowd.

Keagan looks to his brother, then to the crowd....
"I am honored that you feel I am the person for the position...I will strive to uphold and enforce the tenants that we all hold dear. We are beset on all sides by the evil in this land..and as my brother said we will persevere...Any of the Masters that are without Guardians know this...I am recruiting daily. Please feel free to suggest anyone that you feel is Guardian material."
Keagan then turns to Exarch Nahum, he then kneels into a bow....
"Exarch Nahum...I want to thank you Sir. Upon my arrival in Baldurs Gate I knew nobody, with the exception of my brother. Now I have a Family with the Weave Masters. You have shown me nothing but friendship and respect. You have my word that I will make you proud of the decision you made in promoting me to Captain..."
He then turns back to the crowd and cracks a smile....
"Now I must get out of these clothes..They make me itch...*laughs*"
With that Keagan walks off the stage and into the crowd to discuss Guardian assignments with the Masters...

Istari Tower Attacked!
Smoke and the smell of burnt embers emanate from Istari Tower, the home of the Weave Masters. Nahum is found outside briefing his Weave Guardians and Lore Master Jhaelen is found inside coordinating the salvaging of books and scrolls. Their bodies and clothing stained with blast marks and ashes as well as their own blood. It was rumored that some saw Daelthrien the ranger, leaving earlier and that he fought alongside the two.
For those that were nearby an hour ago, sounds of great explosions and "fireworks" filled the air as if a battle of great proportions erupted inside. No one really knows yet what truly happened but rumors are rampant that the tower was besieged by Varzkrul Ramset himself! Or at the very least one of his powerful emissaries. Those nearby claim they heard a booming voice offering promises of immortality and power to the survivors of the onslaught. The ruins of the vast numbers of ghouls, zombies, mummies, vampires, and other things unmentionable or unrecognizable being taken outside the city gates and burned spread more flame to the rumors.

A man with a full helm and black armor adorned with spikes walks up to the heavily damaged Istari tower. Upon asking for Captain Keagan and being informed of the man's absence he leaves a letter requesting that it be given to the captain at the first opportunity.
Captain Keagan, I have been to the Cloudpeaks as I have said I would. Upon arriving, I found that the carcasses of several beasts were still lying in the snow. These creatures are without doubt, from the lower planes. If this lich that you speak of is indeed capable of summoning such an army, then he is far more powerful than I had thought possible. Working alone as is normally my custom will accomplish little here. I cannot hope to face this power as an individual.
If you still desire it, I will pledge my service to your branch of the guild as a member of the Guardians. There are many people who will attest to my ability as a warrior. Daelthrien the ranger, and Lt. Crownsilver of the Fist are two people who have fought alongside me on several occasions.
I thank you sir, for the opportunity which you have offered me.

<<Possible event>>
Jadeite's lack of word after her departure to High Forest is becoming troubling for the guild. It's not in her style to leave and break any communications. She was supposed to stop the attacking drow parties and be back shortly after. Some of the members start to worry whether she is still alive...
