Even if it were the 10+ Spell Level, or 20 + Spell Level for wands, there are still items that should be able to be used and those that are not.. *shrugs* Doesnt affect me much, but we will see in due time if its something bugged or what ever else may have come along in an OBE patch.

I have a Hipster build that seriously KILLS. It was PvP nightmare for my opponents.
I am not playing it on this server, and probably won't play it ever again. That build has been retired.
My advice is this. do not mess with HIPS thwarting. Its well balanced already as rogues/assassins/shadowdancers already suffer in many other areas.

Apparently your build doesnt suffer that much eh? ;D Makes one wonder how many other builds dont suffer as well...

I just want to add that I got my hide and ms really close to 60 right now and still a lot of peoples see me.
Look like with the buffs available it's really easy to find someone with listening.. if items are added to add more listen, this will make a huge imbalance for rogues.

anyone with a listen skill comparable to the rogue's MS. ;P I don't think very many people have a listen skill even close to 60 (and lets not include bards using amplify here). But maybe I'm wrong. Thats why I'm asking whats "a lot".

in addition to "how many can hear you" another relevant question is "how many can hear you that have actually built their character properly so they can hear you". there's no point in boosting listen skills such that even toons who don't invest in listen can hear sneakers. And the answer to that is anyone who has invested points in listen.
the math is in my previous thread ;-)

Well you named a bunch of people that are all high level and all probably have listen/spot jacked and accompanied by good gear. I'd be willing to bet a character it has nothing to do with bugs. I don't know who Kai is (I am guessing Rai) and if thats the case these are all nearly epic (if not already).
I love playing stealth builds, but without being invisible you will be seen from time to time. Its all in the numbers.

It's easy to get listen up compared to hide.. because of all the spells available.. wisdom, clairvoyance, greater heroism, amplify and I must be missing some...
A lot of player can either use scrolls or have the proper class level to cast those spells.
It's really annoying to have to use 3/4 of my items with hidding / ms that result with less AC / Attack and resistances items and still have some peoples who catch me.

I'm not talking about bugs but about the addition of items that add listen and spot skills point which will make pure assassin / rogue useless.

the balance must be carefully managed and it's not easy due primarily to amplify giving ridiculous +20 to listen. This spell should also mean someone shouting in your ear (or making a loud noise) deafens you but that cannot be represented in-game and so it just has positive benefits....*sighs*
putting amplify on a scroll or wand means pretty much any two-bit noob can almost instantly hear even the best sneaker which is why i think this spell should be banned.
there are plenty of other spells out there that help spotter/listeners and do not confer such an inane bonus.
of course this would be a moot point if bugsidian had implemented listen in a better manner for example the listener on a succesful listen roll "hears a noise" as indicated in-game by a brief flashing icon or somesuch. As it stands the listener will "reveal" the toon as a black ghost outline of themselves that can be targeted (by weapon or spell) AND allows the listener to know their name (so they know who the stealther is).
gah! *shakes fist at bugsidian*

Okie I can name you peoples who saw Chloe hidden recently.. Chezy something Broham1 character Rina Ujio Rai Azrael Hakeem And there are probably more... this was in the last 5 days. And here is why you were seen by all of these: Rina - Druid with prolly max spot and listen and wis score of prolly 30+ because druids get a buff that adds over 10+ wis called owls insight. Dont try and hide from a druid Ujio- Epic monk with max spot and listinm sure Rai- Not lvl 20 stealther but is elf with active search who maxes spot/listen Azrael- Druid with prolly max spot and listen and wis score of prolly 30+ because druids get a buff that adds over 10+ wis called owls insight. Dont try and hide from a druid Hakeem- Epic lvl stealther ?? Mainly wanted to point out your tring to hide from 2 druids who both have +30 wis score which adds to the spot/listen checks and who have maxed spot/listen as its a class skill. Druids have the best spot and listen of any class.
