Guys I will do what I can to readjust it this afternoon. During these adjustments though it is key that you remain calm. I am an area builder, not a scripter, and with the loss of my main scripter Otomo I'm having to pull double duty. I, like everyone else on the team, does this for a hobby. Your hobby becomes no fun really fast when people complain all the time.
Raph fortunately has been a big help but we still have a ways to go. So bear with us while we continue to dial the xp in. I will try as best I can to up the level limit xp reward. A while back we set it to anything you kill 10 levels below you you only get one xp for. This came from high levels farming kobolds like it was going out of style. For some reason now people are getting 0 xp.
The death penalty xp loss was also cut down from 5% to 2.5% last night in an effort to bring it in line. I will try to bump the xp payout back up a bit tonight but it won't be all the way of what it was.
XP has to be, in my opinion that hardest thing to set up for a PW. It's a trial by fire for sure.
So while we sort through this, please have some patience. If the strain is to much to bear ;D take a break for a while and come back after the go live when things are set the way would like for them to be.

Lol, yeah.. I wasnt going to say anything, but I only had 145 xp with a new person and lost 42 last night..
Seemed a bit steep but with all of the changes and complaints goin I surely wasn't going to add to them!
Anyway, I concur with the 30% hit. Unless its changed since late last night CT.

As a matter of fact, there was a guy in game the other night that I was talking with via tells.. says he is a scripter and says he will contact you.
Don't recall the name (of course), hopefully he will reach out. The first thing he said upon exiting the Elfsong was 'Wow'.
Wish I would have gotten a screenshot. Lol.

i would also like to make a suggestion to the team once you get a scripter back helping you:
implement a rp exp system. a number of PW's use this (tfr is in the process of implementing one apparently). it works like this: if a pc is talking AND within a certain radius of another PC who is talking they get drip-fed a small number of xp per minute. there is a check to see if they move or do something else beyond just standing there every 10 minutes or so, if they are the drip-fed xp continues, if not it stops until they move or do something else. this it to stop abuse.
this would help with people feeling like they have to grind rather than rp (see all previous comments in this thread). it would be a smaller amount of xp than grinding obviously (mebbe 5-10 per minute which would translate as 300-600 xp per hour, or mebber higher even like 20xp per minute who knows..)
just a thought, it would be complicated to implement most likely but it would stop people bitching about grinding and such.

Well my svirf character just got killed for the first time. Hes a svirfneblin so he has a ECL+3 and is lvl 2 and had a total of about 16000 xp. I used to kill spore beetles with him (10 xp each kill). But when he died he lost 999 xp... which is pretty harsh considering his lvl 2 and that was the first time he died. I spent hours killing those beetles with him to get that 999 xp. :S
I personally think it should reduce 5 % of the XP that you earned to get to the next lvl, not the precent of XP you've ever earned with that character...!

ya, losing 5% or even 2.5% of your TOTAL xp, especially when your close to epic is painful and essentially discourages risk, I essnetially just sit around waiting for DM events where I know I get refunded, unless there are enemies that DO gain good xp and are easily grindable.

An RP XP system, even with checks as Adzling mentioned, is still prone to abuse. People would be getting XP for OOC talking.
