Lagnar, dressed in Flaming Fist armour, leaves a note on the desk of Sgt. Crownsilver.
I would first like to say thank you. I recently spoke to a quartermaster and was giving a suit of armour and the rank of private. 'Tis a true honour to wear. However, within hours of reciving this suit of armour I was forced to stop a great ruckas that erupted in the streets of our city. It began when I was returned after a patrol betwixt the roads of Beregost and Baldurs Gate. An elf with dark skin rushed out of Maltz' Weapon Shop, followed by a human with a large sword. He cried out "stop drow! Die!" and stuck the elf down in the streets. I rushed onto the sceane and bandaged the elf, who was clearly not a drow, even in the early morning darkness. I was nearly forced to restrain the man. I then escorted them both to the station, the man all the while telling the drow I was going to execute him! He simply refused to shut up. One there I led them into a vacant office and the human admited that the elf was not a drow, blaming it on the low lighting. I simply cannot believe this. Though the elf had dark skin, it was not the pitch colour of a drow, but rather a woody brown. Also, his hair was quite dark and by no means white. I allowed the elf to go free, who's name was Lanz. He can be found if needed. I attempted to hold the man, Valksaan Gatsaan, however no cells were vacant. I therefore gathered all of the information I could on him and allowed him to leave, on the warning that he should keep away from the elf, and that he is not to go further than Beregost away from the town. He will be found when he is needed. Now, Sergeant, it is my belief that there is something more going on that neither will admit, and that the man simply wanted the elf dead for some reason, using his dark skin as an excuse. I have written to you not only to report this, but also to ask if a trial might be possible. - Pvt. Lagnar Heckenk

Aiden quickly makes his way back to the city with as much haste as he can muster. His limp keeps him from moving too fast and his constant scanning and stopping to be sure he is not followed does not help him in the situation. He takes a quick look to his wounds and most of the bandages are soaked in blood and it is starting to take its toll on him. He looks to the sky, "Help me Helm...." with but a whisper from his mouth as he musters his strength to continue on to the city. Soon, he finds himself at the front gate to the city and the two sentries posted up as always and Aiden had never been so glad to see two brothers in arms. His face is pale and caked in blood and has nothing but a blank stare upon it as the two sentries see the Corporal coming with a bad limp and bandages soaked in blood. "Corporal!" one of them shouted as they rushed over to aid him. The two guards grabbed hold of Aiden to help him to the gate just as the young man fell limp...... **************************** A few days passed by and his blue eyes open to the smell of burning incense in a familiar place. His body was sore and he turned his head only slightly to see his gear laid up against the wall. He slowly sat up and winced as he grabbed at his abdomen from the sudden pain. "Welcome back Aiden", came the voice from the door. Aiden looked up to see a priest in the doorway, one that he was not familiar with. "You were blessed indeed by he who guards us and guides us to have made it back to the City and recover from such wounds." Aiden did not feel so blessed right at the moment. The shock and pain was still fresh in his mind and evident on his body, still, he forced a smile, "Indeed I am." as he tried to stand. The priest in the doorway quickly grabbed Aiden by the arm before he stumbled back onto the bed. "Seems my legs are not fully recovered." he stated as he wobbled a bit. "No they are not Aiden. It took some time to stop the bleeding and bandage those wounds. We did not know if you would make it. Many hours of praying over you." Aiden truly smiles after that and nods his head, "I was indeed Blessed by Helm for his guidance and guardianship." The priest just smiled and nodded as well. Aiden looked to the priest, "I thank you brother for all that you have done. I must get a report done up on these events and get them to the Fist at once before others fall victim to such tactics." and with that, Aiden made his way to an area he could better write and make his report and then made his way to the Castle of the Fist.... It took some time for Aiden to make his way to the Castle of the Fist, but, he eventually made it there. He stood to attention as best as he could with the sharp pain in his abdoman and gave a salute. "Sir, Cpl. McBride returning...." and he could not finish his sentence and broke the salute as he winced from the sharp pain. The gruff voice of the Lt. broke the silencing shock in the area, "Welcome back Corporal." as he returns the salute. Aiden looks up to him, "Thank you sir." and finished his salute. He enters the building and hands the scroll to the sentry, "Make sure this gets to Sgt. Crownsilver as well as the rest of the chain of command..." and with that he leaves to return to the Temple.... ********************************* Sgt. Crownsilver,
It is with a sense of both relief and anger that I write this report to you. Relief that I survived, and anger that it took place. Bandits along the Tradeway have become bold indeed. While on patrol a few days ago, an adventurer warned me of Bandits on the Lion's Way South of the city. He said that there were three of them and that they were asking for money and threatening those who passed by. I thanked him for the information and begin to travel South to find them and speak with them to determine if this was nothing but another rumor. Find them I did! I barely caught the likes of someone casting a magickal darkness in the area and so I decided to try and bluff them out of the darkness. I called to them in the name of the Fist to clear the roadway, though, I could not see how many were in the darkness and if they were even still there since there are some, as we both have seen, who use that as a tactic to escape capture.
Well, I heard some shouting and then heard plain as day the word 'Attack'. I did not waste any time and prepared for a fight. Three masked figures rushed forth from the darkness and I met them head on with my Faith in Helm guiding me. Suddenly, more appeared from seemingly no-where! The fight seemed to last forever and I laid at least one down if not two, I am not sure in the chaos of the battle. The others conintued on in their onslaught and finally they decided to flee from me. I did not give chase for I was going to grab the one or two that I laid to the ground and take them into custody, but, to my suprise...their bodies were gone! I do not know if their friends grabbed them while running away or not, but, they were gone none the less.
It was not but a moment later, the bandits returned and struck again! This time, there were others in the area who came to fight along side with me. One of which was a mage named Nahum, whom I traveled with in the Cloud Peak Mountains not long ago and the other was clad in armor and I did not get a name in the chaos. I was nearly brought down when suddenly the bandits fled again. I exhausted all of my bandages and nearly all potions on wounds and we went to give chase, when I began to feel the effects of my bleeding. There was no site of the attackers and my head was starting to spin badly and my vision started to become blurry. I knew I had better make it back to the city gate. I can only describe most of them as masked figures, one of which I believe was that halfling Slith. I cannot say for sure even though he closely resembled that one. He had a mask on his face and had the same wicked laugh as Slith.
I have passed this knowledge on to Pvt. Ulfjar, son of Thorkel, and advised him to be wary when dealing with bandits and try not to deal with them by himself if possible if he is outnumbered. They can be tricky in their appearance of strength as I have found out the hard way and am blessed to have survived. I will be spending some time to fully recover, but, I shall return to duty as soon as I am able. In the mean time, I will be gathering all knowledge I can so that we can be better skilled to deal with the likes of such tactics as these cowardly bandits use and train our new recuits and Pvt.'s to be better equipped to handle such situations to hopefully aid in keeping them alive.
May Helm guide us and guard us in these trying times as we stand against the evil of this land....
Cpl. Aiden McBride / Apprentice to Helm

This is just a rough layout. More rules may be coming.. -Ice OCC.... (I would also like to add a few things here, which may cause other to rethink their reasons for wanting to join the Fist. 1) All new recruits, must never leave the road alone unless dire circumstances dictate otherwise. This is a military faction as one dm already pointed out before, and makes no sense to have Fist lurking around caves or deep in the woods without back up. If Sergeant Crownsilver, Corporal McBride, or any other higher ranking Fist soldier cannot find you then you better believe your going to get flogged and restricted to the city for as long as deemed necessary. 2) Every PCs that is a Fist must stand watch every third night. Be it in the tower, near the city gates, outside the HQ, or aiding the temple guard in Beregost. If this doesn't allow you to join an event, then so be it. Your suppose to be playing a professional soldiers, you don't join the Fist for the armor, rank, and quick sign on bonus. Then go off and do your own thing, using patrolling as an excuse to slay giants or hunt minotaurs. 3)There should always be one member protecting Beregost, or within a load screen away from answering any calls for help. 4) Any and all that dare attacks a member of the Fist needs to be dealt with severely, If PVP is a result of this, then don't pull any punches. After the fight should you be the victor, place the offender in irons and bring them back to the city or hand them off to the temple guard if your in Beregost. RP it out either way. 5)All spell casting players you encounter that are in the city or near it (Farmlands) must be asked to peace string their thumbs to their belts. Which prevents spell casting. Again RP it out. Should you encounter a spell caster and he starts buffing while your talking to him. Please inform the said spell caster that such action is consider a hostile act and you will act accordingly. 6) Any player that refuses to be searched, must be place in irons then the choice is no longer theirs. 7)Unless DM approved, the Fist should never be seen pass Nashkel. There is no reason to be up in the Cloud Peak mountains. 8) Fist cannot Freelance their services, while on duty. If Gold and Glory is what you seek, seek another profession. 9) You are the enforcers of the Trade Way and the city of Baldur's Gate, don't go and abuse that authority. This is a boring faction, but a necessary one. Players must give up alot in order to join. Grinding is not allowed. Either is griefing. You can join others on their quests if you follow the rules above, and it makes sense to do so. This also is just a rough draft, and I may put something together after the dust settles, and I see if the new recruits fall in line. As of now, all recruiting for the Flaming Fist is placed on hold. The only way to join is if the DM deems it so.) Devildog

I have a question about rule number 10. It says they are to kill all drow on sit but isn't that being a little presumptuous. I mean not all Drow are evil just like not all tylings are evil.
Also what if they are unarmed. Rule number one states to never attack an unarmed person.
In my opinion should you just treat them as you would a Gensai?

No, there have been far too many drow raids on the farmlands. Not only that but a drow was once allowed within the city and she killed 20 Flaming Fist soldiers before she escaped. All drow are to be attacked on sight. I have no problem with rule #10. Drow can cast darkness, that itself can be used as a weapon.

ooc: in all honesty, drow are multiversally considered to be highly dangerous and maliciously evil. seeing a drow is pretty much the equivalent of seeing a rabid dog. you have two choices: kill it or run away. if you try to walk over and pet a dog that's foaming at the mouth, you're going to get bit. the same with drow. their whole society is brainwashed from birth to always look out for themselves, and to always look for a back to stick a dagger into so that you can climb your way up their social ladder. they have no problems killing off any other drow, especially family members, to climb up the ranks.
a good drow, such as drizzt, is really only a one in a quadrillion case. and can expect to run into complete hostility based on the actions of pretty much every other drow in existence. drizzt literally is one of the handful of good drow in the entire history of the race.

Drow have no rights, and hence all the other rules do not apply.. just kill them on sight.
A couple more rules...
11) The Fist uniform must be worn at all times, if seen without it you better have damn good reason.
12) You are not allowed to Freelance. You are a "merc", yes, but one who has already accepted Baldur's Gate as your job. Because of that you are their military, no one elses.
Note on Devils Rule #6. This has to be with probable cause. This is not a ticket to go running down the road trying to frisk everyone. If you do this expect public outcry and your demotion (as this would happen with any other police force, or military unit). Its intertwined with my Rule #'s 8 and 9.

Phantom is now working as a intel agent in the service of the Flaming Fist and Duke Eltan. He is not a Fist, but more like a contact with the ability to get information and quickly pass them to the right hands. He reports only to the Duke himself, and he has no authority. He has proven himself more than enough to the Duke with his intel, and he can be used in undercover missions through enemy territory, to gather information on the enemy's power.

*Soldiers and servants alike step hastily out of the way of the brooding sergeant as he stomps past them on his way to the barracks. A sentry on duty briskly salutes, but the sergeant takes no notice. Thundering up the stairs, the barrel-chested warrior nearly takes the door off its hinge leading to the barracks of the Flaming Fist Mercenary Company. Once inside he can see several soldiers off duty milling about and sitting on top of storage crates drinking, smoking and gambling. Upon seeing the sergeant enter the room all laughing and joking comes to abrupt stop, and as if practiced countless times before. The soldiers simply get up quickly file pass the sergeant, muttering and cussing under their breaths until the barracks is completely empty save for the sergeant himself and a few cots whose occupants are far too tired to care what foul mood Justin Crownsilver is in.
Grateful for the welcome silence, Justin unceremoniously collapses into a chair that is ridiculously far too small for a man of his size. A small wooden table that has been stained far too often in the past with split brandy, leaving the table's surface to take on an amber tinge stands next to him. A stack of unread reports all addressed to him, lay scattered on top of the table. Cussing out loud, Justin reaches for a half empty bottle of brandy that just so happen to be sitting on top of a map of the surrounding lands. Not known for drinking alone, the sergeant holds the bottle up high saluting all the sleeping Fist soldiers while they continue to lie there snoring in their cots. Glancing back down at the map, Justin takes a quick sip of the brandy before placing it back on the table. Pulling out a blank piece of parchment, he reaches for an ink quill and begins to write. ************************************************** Lieutenant Yulimtul.
Recently my men and I have discovered a smuggling ring that is operating both in Beregost and within the city as well. By way of independent couriers, weapons and armor are being transported to and from locations unknown further south of the Cloud Peak Mountains. After extracting information from such a courier we were able to learn that drop points have been set up down near the docks and outside Thunder Hammer’s Smithy in Beregost. Might I suggest you warn the watch of these activities, as I have already taken the liberty to inform the temple guard of Lathander in Beregost to do the same. This has a hint of the likes of those shadowy operatives from Amn, though that is just my opinion sir. “Glory to the Fist!”

I think I even saw one buying stuff from the magic shop in BG once... How would you RP that one, eh? Umm... Do the players know that just because you can make a Drow, it doesn't mean that they're accepted? Do they know we're going to attack them on sight? Might be something to post in the rules area so they've been warned. Peace, Cor

***The note is printed in very neat semi-large letters and signed with a flourish at the end***
The Flaming Fist Road Wardens TO: Corporal Aiden McBride FROM: Private Belferon Corgano (AKA: Bel)
Corporal McBride,
I was attacked on the Trade Way just south of the ogres territory and left for dead. I could not see my attacker. He must be a master of hiding. He talked to me for a long while and I never saw him, not even once. He also stated that there's a 500 gp reward on every Flaming Fist member's head. I do not know if this is true or not, but he seemed only interested in attacking member's of the Fist, and collecting the bounty from his employer.
I also remember some sort of lightning as he hit me from behind, and then not being able to move. And then darkness... He did, however, leave a calling card: A silver dagger charm.
Pvt. Belferon Corgano
Glory to the Fist!

Several Fist soldiers come in after their patrols speaking of a similar charm left along the roads from Baldur's Gate to Beregost. Citizens and travelers alike speak of the murders of two bridge bandits just outside of Beregost and another strange man outside of the Farmlands. At both occurances a silver dagger charm was left at the bodies, yet nothing else was reported missing from the bodies.
With recent reports of a hit being issued on all Flaming Fist's heads, some men are paranoid if not hesitant to resume patrols along the Trade Way.
