Hello there helpers. My issue is a big one, so I will take some time explaining:
1- A few days back, I started to have some lag issues. When questioned, the others around my character told me I was lagging alone. No problem, I figured. Must be something with my conection. But then NWN2 began to crash on startup menu. Not even single player I could play anymore. 2- Tested my conection. Downloading at 100kb/sec. At the time. 3- Well, could be something with my system, maybe a virus, or a bad windows update. So, a format was in order. Done. Windows reinstalled. And updated to SP2. 4- NWN2 was reinstalled and updated. My Documents Folder was in a DVD so i just put it back in place. And voilá! I was back IG. Same lag issue. *Sighs*. Jumps forward and backwards, crashing to desktop. 5- Upgraded my conection. Now downloading 300kb/sec. Cable. 6- logged back in. same lag, delay, jumps and freezing screens. 7- Could be my graphics...weird. So, all tuned down. (I play here for a long time with all my graphics to max, except for enviroment shadows and had no lag, but who knows...). Same lag. 8- I thought it could be my video card, or something else totally weird that got broken. So loaded my single player. Running perfectly. 9- Dont know what else to do...
Help? Please? 4-

New info i forgot to add: 1- When logging on Multiplayer, im getting a weird long time on "Checking name" And Checking version". Like 30 seconds, just to log on multiplayer. But that happens randomly. 2- im getting sometimes a Timed Out message from the server. 3- Sometimes I switch visions with othe characters, and last time, I was talking and another character's name was showing next to mine, like this: "Valek Sunborn (Dia): Greetings.". The character was Dia Tesslar, the same one I got vision too in a lag spike only I had. Like that character was possessing me and I was a familiar or something. 4- My NET. Framework is still 2.0, since last time 3.5 screw me up. I dont have SP3 since it comes with NET. Framework 3.5 now. That was my last mistake. HELP. *Gulp*

Talking to GS can be errant, as they have had some of the worst routing for a matchmaker system. Timeouts to the server has occured to me when something else is exceeding 30% of my available bandwidth during loadup, I don't know if this is related or not, haven't checked to see if it's handshaking in TCP which might validate that assumption but only on collisions. I'm stumped regarding #3. #4 is fine.

I will follow any advice you can give me man. But just for the record. I logged in last night, after this post, like 4 hours later, and I had no lag at all. Zero. Nada. Same configuration here. Then, logged today, and lag freezes. And seems to be random, like all the sudden, no one around, lag freeze. I tested my conection during one of those freezes, with Alt+Tab and loading a video on youtube, and worked fine. I alt+Tabed back to NWN2 and was still frozen. Relogged and I was fine again. So weird.

Your character bic file might have grown to large. Ask Eldur to check it for you sometime.

Maybe when your lagging bad.. if your the only one lagging, use this to check your internet. I forget what state the server is hosted in, but pick a test point some where on the east coast or mid-west and run the test a few times to see if your connection across the U.S. is fluctuating. www.speedtest.net/

I have Luna, its working perfectly. Steady download of 300kb/sec, for a 3MB conection.

With that speed you can see on the test, I now give up. Its unplayable for me. Crazy lags, jumps back and forth, freezing. My NWN installation is new, all updated, files from the server in place and not one override. If the problem was with my bic or something, wouldnt my lag stay? But last night I had no lag at all, for 2 hours or more. Now I cant play.

The only thing I can suggest is that you check on the background programs running in the task manager. Processes like FINDFAST have caused lag problems for me in the past.

Try pinging the server for a span of a minute or two and see if you get any fluctuation in the response time when you can't login or it gets bad.
Just look at the ms response time like below.
Ping 66.194.252.147
Reply from 66.194.252.147: bytes=32 time=83ms TTL=116 Reply from 66.194.252.147: bytes=32 time=81ms TTL=116 Reply from 66.194.252.147: bytes=32 time=82ms TTL=116 Reply from 66.194.252.147: bytes=32 time=81ms TTL=116

What you can do also is:
open a command prompt window
Type in: C:\>tracert 66.194.252.147
you should see all the hops (routers your data go thru with the response time)
That way you can see if the problem is between you and the server.
