First, my disclaimer. I do not suggest that anyone go do this immediately, or ever, nor will I demand that you do or do not after any or no results from this poll.
That said, I have noticed that there are two types of servers out there. Those which you grind in, and those which you quest in. BG has a bit of both, in some ways, but it is mainly grinding.
How would you guys feel about a quest that is not an errand quest, or a short quest, but an area devoted to the quest. That is to say, perhaps a tower of rogue mages have kidnapped a gifted girl to use her talents as their own, and you have been asked to return her to her parents. The quest would provide xp as you went through it killing mobs, with a final bonus, for returning the girl safely, or perhaps some evil ending.
What do you guys think, could we use more quest centric content?

It is difficult to sell an entire area (or set of areas) to a single quest. Even a doozy of a quest. They can be too time consuming to make for people to work through it once.
However, that's not to say you can't have the best of both worlds. You can have a tower of rogue mages as a general grinding area but if a PC enters with the quest to rescue the girl then the girl (and perhaps a few more mages) spawn in as well.
Any area and any mob can also double as a quest goal/object.
I seem to recall there are minotaurs (or somesuch) that drop horns that you can sell for gold. Couldn't it just as easily be a mage needing minotaur horns for spell componants for a powerful spell?
But to answer your question. More quests are always better but their nature of generally (for meaningful quests) being one shot makes them the least ROI on builder's time.

I think you might enjoy my idea for attaining epic gear such +4 etc.
The goal is to create "raid" bosses that require at least a small group to kill all the way up to a small raiding party. These "bosses" will consist of monsters like Lichs, Dragons, Beholders etc and will spawn maybe once a week or so. Once killed, depending on difficulty, the boss will drop a certain number of relics the party must divide amongst themselves.
These relics in turn will be traded into the gnomes at the High Hall of Wonders for epic gear. For example a +4 named sword might cost 5 relics. Where a +4 suit of armor with special abilities might cost you 10-15. the goal is for it to take at least several months of relic hunting to attain a single item.

I do like that idea. I would like it even more if DMs could award these relics for good RP during events (or any other time really). Reason being, is those that grind to epic levels in a week's time will likely be the same ones that are able to grind out these relics from the bosses (because they are such high level).
But I really love the idea of having extremely difficult monsters that require grouping and strategy.
Perhaps if the 'Fields of Dead' are going to be undead-centric we could change the spawns in the ruins in the goblin area.. change it from undead to something like gobs of goblins as thick as the kobolds with enough traps and dire wolf companions to make the place a REAL threat. A goblin 'chief' could be waiting somewhere that is protected by some buffed-out elites.
I just want somewhere that even the highest level person would fear entering (or being ported into by mean DMs. Ha ha).
Oh, and let's come up with a name for the Goblin and Orc tribes, it would help with the RP I think!

I really love this idea, as long as we dont see the same individuals kill the boss every week restricting peoples to join them just so they dont have to split the relics between many peoples. Would be nice to hear a shout.. something a lich has been reported in this area.. blah blah and so peoples who want to give it a try can gather together and do it.

And I think the boss might have multiple items. Having a single item for a single person when it takes a group to kill it is like adding WoW End game raiding to pnp, and I doubt that is what Jlf has in mind.

I don't think we want to have a forum dedicated to dragon kill points (dkp's) to track loot order. ;D

You missed a part, Bosses will drop relics that you will turn in for items at a gnome in the halls. s So basically the only thing a boss will drop is relics, that you will split between peoples there.
