That means, we're on a grand total of 15 people. We're doing pretty good
Anyway, there have been some thoughts about ranks.
On Scholars
Mere mortal ---> Acolyte.
You become an acolyte by seeking out Valerius, and upon his first impression, you get accepted or not.
Acolyte ---> Seeker
Valerius has a list of questions to test your lore about Candlekeep.
As you'll be representing Candlekeep, and Candlekeep is a fixed Lorebased faction, this'll be necessary to become a full member.
Seeker ---> Scribe
Scribes work inside the library, copying books and the like.
My idea was to let the seeker conduct research about a subject of choice and write an essay about it. So we can contribute it to the library. Note that this doesn't have to be pages long. It might as well be a study on the spell resistance on various creatures or a Self drawn map of the labyrinth, or your findings and theories about a certain ruin inside the game world.
The idea here is that if you want to RP a scholar, you shouldn't mind acting like a scholar. Plus, we'll gradually build up a real library while doing so. An added bonus is also that this will give plenty RP oppurtunity. For example if a Seeker needs to conduct research in a dangerous area. He'd need to hire the Candlekeep Guard as an escort. Or even when the seeker is discussing his research around the campfire. It should give quite an incentive to discuss magical workings and theory.
Scribe ---> reader and beyond.
Through voting. All seekers and up shall have a vote.
On the guards.
There are a few ideas rolling around, with two standing out.
First: We let the trainee retrieve a scroll inside a dungeon appropriate to the trainee's level. This would be in the spirit of retrieving knowledge while also testing the trainee's combat capabilites.
Second: Guard/Gate training. We put the trainee in front of the gate and we see how the trainee reacts to various (made up) visitors.
This is because Guards will also be representing Candlekeep and we need to make sure they will be able to, also, uphold our laws and solve problems with words. Instead of drawing swords.
Plus, it'd be a nice oppurtunity to RP really strange characters that for some strange reason will want to enter Candlekeep.
Note: None of these are 'fixed' ideas and everything here is open for change.
Edit: added the rest of the 'friends' aswell after rokanons remark.
