I found BG:TSCC rather blindly. I had wanted to play NWN2 for a while but only got a PC that could handle it at this past Christmas. After running through the OC and half of MotB I wanted a more impromptu social experience and decided to browse the multiplayer listings. Theose with the most players appealed to me and after looking at the websites and forums, it appeared that BG was the easiest to get into and had one of the more active forums. I managed to figure out the downloads, get online and bump into a lot of great people as S'ment. This is my first PW and I've found no reason to look for another. Been very happy and having a lot of fun. Thanks all!

A couple buddies and I really enjoyed a PW on NWN1 together, and and recently decided we'd like to get back into it with NWN2. One of them did some research and stumbled across this one. As BG and BG2 were two of our favorite games of all time, it seemed like a logical choice. The PW we played on NWN1 eventually became a disastrous monstrosity of powerbuilds and over-the-top scripting, so it's really great to be playing in a more DnD rich world. Only been here a little over a week, but I love it so far and hope to be around for some time to come. I would be the other buddy mentioned above. I'm just recently started playing NWN2. I loved the first one and the PWs I tried on it. I convinced Rok and Pyrobane to find us a PW for NWN2 and the three of us really fell in love with Baldur's.

Hi , Ive heard of Baldurs gate from NWN2 vault and other servers Ive been playing on. Ive been around the online NWN2 circuit for a little while now and have played on a few servers. What I'm looking for is a server with good content, interactive DM's and great people to play with. One thing that is important to me is experience, I like to level my character at a decent rate. I have a RL and spending weeks to get to level 5 is not for me, neither am I looking to powerlevel it to the highest level in a week. I feel that takes away from the development process. I was on another server that gave you 15 exp max per kill. I felt that was way too low. What do you think? How is the leveling here done: the experience per kill and quest completion rewards?

There are only about 15 quests at the moment but they are meant to reset every two weeks. That part isn't working at the moment but eventually it will. As far as xp goes it is way too high in my opinion but you'll probably find it to your liking. It starts out at 50 xp for a level one PC killing 4 HP wolves. Level progression will probably be fairly quick up to 20 or so unless you purposefully handicap yourself. I estimate that XP will not drop to 15 for the higher level mobs until your PC is around level 23-25 (not counting ECL or multi-class penalties).

I heard of the server from the official nwn2 forums. Was looking for a single player underdark mod and someone said something about you guys. Sadly you do not have that section up yet... as far as I know. But I will certainly try to get there when the 9.0 beta or whatever comes out. But for now my cleric will get to know this world and community!

The Underdark is in play now. It isn't nearly as polished as the surface but there is a regular playerbase and a dedicated DM down there.

Sweet, where can I find it? I've only a lowly lvl 3 cleric, but that has not stopped me from killing some ogres and elite goblins =)

I heard about this PW from a friend who started playing on it recently as well. My first persistent world ever, as I got into the original NWN a bit past it's prime and never really knew about them anyway. I'm enjoying it a lot so far though. Sweet, where can I find it? I've only a lowly lvl 3 cleric, but that has not stopped me from killing some ogres and elite goblins =) I could be wrong, but I don't believe they are connected yet; however, Drow, Deep Gnomes, Water and Air Genasi, as well as Half-Drow all start down there. (If I missed any, let me know!) (Also, if possible, Half-Drow should start with Undercommon instead of Elvish!)

Earth and Fire Genasi also start down there as well ^^
Although I really think that a lot of Genasi would be on the surface, I hope they implement a system where people can choose where to start and then when the tunnel to the surface is made then it doesn't really matter.
I'm personally making a Stormlord but it doesn't seem to be making much sense as you can't really see the sky or witness storms from the Underdark so I regularly have to ask DM's to port me because of server crashes.

Hello everyone!!
I saw this thread and thought I'd share my two pennys. My Baldur's Gate experiences began when I was only barely teenage, and my brother was always playing this strange game on the computer (I loved my Civ I at the time). So I tried it out, an elvish ranger, lost in the wilderness after the death of Gorion outside Candlekeep... and the rest is history! I played through Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate II + Throne of Bhaal expansion, and at the end of Throne of Bhaal there was an advert for NWN1. (about 2001 or so i guess).
So I waited for NWN, played it to death until early 2006 (by that time I was a NWN ace, master powerbuilder, roleplayer, DM etc). Most of that time I spent roleplaying with my Aussie buddies over at nwndownunder.net, or playing on the Aussie persistent worlds. But my love for the game slowly faded, until it eventually went out like a snuffed candle. I ceased all computer gaming from early 2006 until just last month, when I was re-introduced to NWN2. Always having been a fan of the series, I purchased my own copy and enjoyed it very much, and the desire for roleplay grew once again.
So I finally decided to get reconnected to the internet (I had been without personal, home internet access since I gave away gaming in 2006), logged onto gamespy and started looking for a good roleplay server. The first one I attempted to log onto was blaring at me in great big letters, "BALDUR'S GATE", but I didn't have the necessary downloads, so I couldn't play.
Now, it's just a matter of renewing my internet download limit (I have pre-paid wireless internet) after using 70% of my download quota patching NWN2 and updating Windows Vista. So hopefully you'll see me online within the next few weeks!

I heard about you from a friend who also recently started playing here. You're the first NWN2 server I've played and you've definitely made a good first impression. Kudos to all the work.

Several folks on another server I play on have come to BG, and some currently play on both servers. I thought I would give it a try.
My initial impressions:
* beautiful areas * game play aimed at casual rp/adventure/leveling * active DMs
Generally, it seems very good.

Looked for the most popular servers as I wanted to play with real PEOPLE. Out of the three I looked at, this seemed to be the most polished with a good rate of XP gain and large RP playerbase I was looking for. Like others have said, I didn't want to be a level 1 for like two years. And at 5xp a rat in others... made the idea of of lvl2 seem epic. I don't always have time for events, so the ability to level up without a DM being present was great. The fact that I get to stumble into events when I have time is even better.
I was attacked by a bush last night. A bush... You DM's are nuts sometimes.
Been playing the OC's of Icwind Dale 1 & 2, BG (all expansions), NWN 1, NWN2 (half through the OC of MOTB... which I doubt I'll finish, and none on SoZ). Loved the whole series and forgave the many bugs due to that love of the game. The BG series takes the cake for me. The fact that this PW had EVERYTHING I was looking for made it a no-brainer. Can't wait to see what it'll look like as a final version.

I was attacked by a bush last night. A bush... You DM's are nuts sometimes. Sometimes the urge to do something all-out whacky hits us. But I'll plead innocent on the idea of that. I just took part. ;D You should have been around for the Oracle of the Campfire. That thing was telling fortunes!

While in Gamespy last night, I clicked the "Player" tab and BG was at the top with the most players in the Role Play section.
