ok, i think i may have figured out how to work around this. i did some testing, and it looks like if you manually drag the loot into your inventory, everything works as it should, even through lag. but if you hit the "loot all" or just click on the item in the loot window, it runs the chance of the loot bag not disappearing.

My experience with loot bags and a few instances of ogres not fading away has been when the server makes an auto save. If the save takes place while a lootable corpse or bag is opened or is open when the save takes place the bag or body remains. this I have experienced hunting wolves and ogres.
As for the bags being left in the cloakwood during minotaur hunts I can't say. Too many of us are grinding horns for me to venture there yet.

Can't a scrip check for empty bags every 30 min and delete them?

5 minutes would be even more swell. People have treants on hit, not to mention wolves.

There is a cleanup script. The problem is when nwn2server is up for any extended amount of time the script engine can break down and won't fire correctly. That might be what happened in this case. -driller Can't a scrip check for empty bags every 30 min and delete them?

So it won't work go without planned server resets?

Maybe you can trigger a cleanup for a zone everytime a player enters it. Not sure if it would generate lag...

This has been ongoing I see. I try to make an effort to tell other PCs to pick up their bags. But it's not just in the Wolves Area. I came accross such in the goblin area heading to Beregost.

I believe this is being worked on and will hopefully be fixed sooner than later.
Yay. Whats worse than loot bags laying around is finding a hood, a mundane dagger, or something else just laying on the road... especially when such things have trivial weight. Gah.

*Looks scared*
"Hey MAN that's not me!! I pick up my trash, Even other peoples trash. Yesterday somelook at me for picking up someone trash and called me "common". I even learned how to take down my tent, and stomp my campfire out." LOL I wish I would had found that dagger. Might be handy.
