I've been muleing over this for sometime now, and I am wondering what everyone elses view on this subject are.
Faction Tags, is a simple word or words added on as a prefix or suffix to a characters name to represent a facton or title.
Take my Priest of Talos, right now his name is Malik Thunderfist, if he joined the games orderof Talos he would become Storm Herald Malik Thunderfist, or a similar name.
This is mainly to keep track of who's who but it's also kind of an OOC badge declareng who you work for.
Granted not every faction would use them like the harpers and the church of bane and the like but it might be interesting to impliment.
The tags would after the characters name so as not to confuse them the PC's with npcs.
NPCs always have their title before their actual name, PC-s faction tag will always be last so we can distinguish. Granted, most of the staff cant change names on PC's right now, as the option is disabled but....
What do you guys think?

A bad ideal as the PC's unique id is partially generated from the character's name. This would mess up the database associations. Right now, yes it would require a complete rebuild, which is a major headache as right now PC name changeing with the DMFI is disabled, not sure if it could be fixed. i did not know about name changes messing up PC Id's, could you explain alittle mroe about a PCs unique ID? Send me a PM please? I'm just curious for my own peice of mind, and as a possaibility to think of other ways to handle it.

You can still change the player's faction though yes? Regardless of whether you change his name.
The real question is - how do we relay the information visually so that people recognize who/what we are right?
We have more than just names when it comes to this - Every piece of visible gear you wear could be considered a possible "Flag" showing support of your faction. We may need to develop, as a group, some designs that we all agree on as the "Cloak of Talos" or "Armband of Torm" ... colors and designs would obviously be the most important thing.

You can still change the player's faction though yes? . I think your confused. There are 4 types of factions. the first four regulate script AI's and fire responses for NPCS Hostile-Which is what tells the monsters to attack everone on sight. Commonor-Reguards everyone as neutral and wont attack Defender-Is suppose to attack anyone who attacks commoners and merchants. Merchants-Are suppose to defend themselves if attacked, but not others. These factions dont seem to work as they should right now, all but the hostile factions are neutral and will defend themselves but not others. The faction we are talking about are player driven RP factions.

I am referring to the Faction editing/creation function within the TS, Wiz. You can create your own and dictate how they will interact with the other factions that exist in the world. You can also change the faction of a character or creature.
