While not required in order to play on BG: SCC, biographies and journals make for wonderful tools on a roleplaying server. A biography helps build your character into a living, breathing being who has a past that undoubtedly made an impact on who they are today. It also proves to be a useful DM tool. In PnP, there is normally around four players and one DM, making it a great deal easier to keep track of a character's past in case one day the DM decides to use something from it. Adding a journal to your biography can also help you keep track of important events that have happened to your character during your stay here, and can also help the DM's in monitoring what your character has been up to, allowing them to create plots from the experiences. Afterall, we are not all seeing ... well sometimes With an online server with countless people, it is handy for a DM to be able to just scroll through the forums, find a person, and read about their life, how they grew up, key people that have effected them, and so forth if they ever have the desire to bring that past into the game. Again it is not required but can increase your gaming experience so if you have the time I highly suggest you write one down.
