I just thought - why i will be killing lizards for two-three hours? No one asked me to do it, i dont have any problem in lizards living in Cloakwood, or gnolls who ocupate territory near notyetFrendly Arm Inn, so what is my point?
I playing for a dwarf who is searching for any relicts and artefacts connected to the first appearanse of Tyr on Faerun, quite logical that i spent my time in an old ruins with scelets and zombies, and by the same logic i will better pass threw gnolls and lizards under invisibility or some other way.
Maybe it will be nice to make an NPS giving tasks like - clear the Cloackwood from lizards and for the proof bring me 10 chifs, 20 shamans and 50 common lizards tails. After dealing with that you can earn some extra money and some exp as well. Certanly we have to put those tails into a lizards and make them without weight. Or bring me 100 bandits sculps (such thing was in BG if you remember) - but just terminating mobs for level up - is far from roleplaying concept imho.
So, whats your roleplay point in cleaning Sword Coast from monsters? ;-))

For starters, with the server in beta mode still, there are no quests available. So from a purely OOC perspective, I slaughter monsters for lack of anything else to do (besides the occasional rp when I encounter another player).
Kerto Brundenburg spends most of his time killing hostiles along the tradeway. He is a native of Nashkel so he has an interest in making his way back there and freeing the town from the giants. Any creatures that prey upon those traveling the road are considered fair game too. Unfortunately, Kerto lacks the skill to defeat giants, so at times he will venture into the woods in the hopes of honing his skills in new encounters.

Haydel kills monsters to make the lands safe for good decent fair folk.
NeLleenya kills to make sacrifices to Lloth, because she hates all life and just for the sheer joy of killing.
My warlock, I don't really have a motivation for him yet, he's definitely power hungry, but I don't know how that translates into killing monsters. Maybe just to practise his art. I really don't know much lore about DnD warlocks and am just winging it.

*Misty smiles* I find that my place in this world is to rid it of all of these cretins, abominations, and undesirables. I get stronger in the doing as well. The gods put them there to fortify our races and to provide sport. Littering the world with bodies is our calling. Finding out secrets best left hidden and accumulating wealth. Oh, and hunting the most horrible monsters with your friends can be a tonic. A pure rush of adrenalin. Or satisfying, as in destroying a unique foe with your peers. *but I digress. The reasons, or rationalizations, for the masses of monsters we need to destroy to increase our levels are manifold and as varied as the people we play with. I like to keep the actual grinding part of my play separate from the persona I am portraying.
