I was just attacked by a drow instantly on transition. I did not get a chance to refuse, rp, or anything. Drow are evil; ya ya ya. I did not even get a chance to see what it was until knock out. It would be appropriate if I got a heads up. Something like: "It's a human spy." Or, "A witness, kill her quick." Then, do your killing. I would say, "It's a drow, get it." That is, before I went PKing the newb. That is all; just proper edicate. Yes that was me who did that. I couldn't let you see or hear what was going on. Kill on sight is just that, I see you and kill you. Drow don't have to RP violence and vice versa, it's just assumed it will happen. In fact, imo that is perfect RP, no talking. However, in that instance I didn't really have a choice, Ne'Lleenya is a wanted person and was corrupting surfacers, if you had gotten away all her efforts would have been exposed.

Jesus... give a little kind OOC heads-up/explanation atleast, or better yet, just avoid the person. You can't kill everyone around you for a reason very few people know about.

Maybe I need to brush up on my reading, but I would think a drow would have been annoyed by interruption, especially, a proud drow. I would now expect to hear something like: "Pathetic human; interrupting me at a time like this." *slashes throat; smiles wickedly* Furthermore, it seems to me that it is bad RP for a wanted PC to be so close to the city (conducting business) after killing 20 Fists. What's up with that? I would expect a high level evil PC to be the cautions type. That is, to have survived for so long.

Before you start knocking my RP, be aware that you have no idea what was going on. I don't have to explain to everyone why she attacked or why she was there. being drow is reason enough. And she went near the city for a reason, which was accomplished. Edit- the fact that she is wanted is why she is more apt to attack on sight, I cant very well have anyone running off and telling the guards, why would she talk to your char? That imo would be bad RP.

Happened to me to only i ran after i heard "another, kill him to join me" I wasnt even fully loaded when i saw that.. im lvl two less then a minute from baldurs gate, nice RP. Yet another reason why I must kill PC's as soon as I see them, half the players will run or log off, then get on the forums and cry about RP. The other two players, who I attacked, stuck with it for awhile and were pleasently suprised by the outcome. Fyi, killing in PVP doesnt happen you get knocked out, the RP comes afterwards for my drow, she simply cannot have people running off telling the guards.

Alright, the other day, my char Ujio, saw, Ne'Llenya in the bandit caves talking to someone. She killed me on sight. That is not bad RP. In fact, its awesome RP. She must do this or shes busted. But as you all know, you cant die in PvP, so 60 sec later i was up and running. The RP was good, and everyone was happy. I didnt die, and she didnt lost her cover. I dont understand why we must warn the other player before going PvP. That is bad RP. When you see a drow, or a well know evil char, the RP can be only taken in actions. In fact, RP does not mean talking. Action is also a part of RP. You dont lose nothing when you die, but keeps the imertion. This is suposed to happen. I dont like when the other player tells me: OOC now i will kill u. That ruins the imertion. If you meet a drow, or a well know character, run, and if you die, please dont complain, you wont lose nothing when you die this way. Also, if you say something rude to a character you dont know, dont be mad if the guy hits you in the head. This is suposed to be a simulation of a real world. A medieval one right? So there will be knights, gentle knights, and also badass vilains. And they WILL try to hurt you lol. I have a barabarian, and he is not evil. But he is a barbarian. If a guy calls him thug, or even fool, his response will be a punch in the face. Nothing more. Not a word. Thats rp. We dont need to say everything we're going to do. The characters are a simulation of people. They are not narrators. Unless you do this in RL. Like: Ok im drinking water now....now im eating......now i will turn on the TV...... lols You just do it. No talk.
Thanks Zeal
PS: I play one of the gentle knights.....lol

Yeah hate to say it, but it goes both ways. More than half the time the people who say they were killed by the evil drow or some such are the ones who kill the evils if given a chance to. Its not a shield and please dont hide behind it. If you are going to attack drow on sight, or go hunting for evil to smite it, expect to meet some hostility, not diplomatic endevours.
As others have said here, if you are "killed" in pvp, please do not log off and especially dont log back on with a higher level char to get revenge. At that point you attract the attention of the DM's and the Boot Hammer. As they have said you will lose NOTHING from being beaten in PvP with another player. No gold, no xp, no items, nothing (but your pride). So please dont complain, and in most cases good RP comes from it (if not rivalries later on).

A player knows that if his/her drow is killed, not sure how you guys do it here yet, it is a permdeath. Or could be,most likely.A drow is a kill on sight or run for your life race.So of course why would the drow not treat you the same. And since there isnt a penalty fro PVP or CVC death. Why the complaint? And also , I always notice when an adventurer confronts a drow, they never emote any fear at all.As though they have dealt with drow before or they think they are like Erevis Cale or Bruenor Battlehammer.Only a paladin or a cleric with the Good domain should show no fear to things.Certain emotional emotes I think are not used properly.I know everyone wants to be the epic pc or hero, use some realism. And to get back on track...PVP Does make for great character development.

It normally is not a perma death, in some ways someone can resurrect, or their Deity has granted them another chance to live in this spiteful world. Upon being killed by a pc you have to play dead until they leave. That means the other character will do something with your remains or just run from the sight, typically when being killed you have no recollection of what happened or who killed you just that you have a pounding headache and or a massive scar where you were pierced, or sliced. So it is not like as soon as you get up you start buffing and go hunting for this person with five other friends. Unless there was a person there that witnessed it you cant do anything about it. 2. Ryokami is quite the evil character though he does not seem it at this time, there are some actions that he displays to let some people know there is a slight evil with him, via asking for gold, laughing at players or npc's death, being rude to some players. He is actually allied with the notorious drow Ne'Lleenya, and well if you stick with her long enough you see just about anything a drow is capable. One of the reasons he never runs from a drow is because he actually finds them quite interesting and would like to know a lot more than what he knows already. Granted at first he was sketchy about drows though when confronted by Ne'Lleenya after hearing such things in town he was quite surprised that someone as her could stir so much heat. Most people that play drows are either new to the server or know their lore, and the people confronted them has either seen them before or new to the server and dont understand what is going on yet. This I do know is not typically about me but I did give my input and gave a reason why my character isnt sketchy around drows, I figured everyone has a story and typically this on is my.

WARNING What follows is just my own thought and not here to upset or anger anyone that reads it, because I do agree with both sides of the story to a degree..... RP, and good or bad RP, is from a standpoint. We all have a vision of what is perfect RP to us, but, I stress the point, what is perfect to us......Still, the DM's/DEV's and so on, have done a wonderful job to make sure that the blow is lessoned. So, even if you think it is a "bad RP" situation and you are killed in PVP and you are upset about it, did you loose any hard earned XP, Gold or Items? If yes, then go from there..... Having said that, in my opinion, Game mechanics are a factor to overcome and consider. Although, I will second what DM Ice said about OOC revenge...NOT KEWL.....Unfortunately Game Mechanics - Lag, Area Transistions, Crashes and so on, can make it frustrating as we ALL have experienced that at one time or another and in a 'potential' RP situation, this makes it that much more frustrating. *ON A SIDE NOTE* The Tradeway is indeed a dangerous place to travel alone, and the Drow, *cough* DM's *cough* , Ogres, Wyverns, and so on and so on can cause a lot of havoc. Even if you do travel in a group, expect to be bothered, attacked, or even slain by a Dragon (in town or out of town if you foolishy wade into battle against it even as it lays waste to all the Strong Soldiers and Wizards around you - : , Ghostly Trolls, hordes of Orc led by a Giant and even the occasional 'otherworldly thing' that just wants to see you dance......oh yeah, and EVIL DROW.

Does anyone remember if the server admins ever decided that "turning dislike/hostile" was a rule or a courtesy for PVP? It's been awhile, and I remember someone mentioning this, but not if it was ever resolved to a solid answer...

For now Ming, its not required (unless casters need you hostile to cast spells, though thats their own thing and can be triggered on their end). Primarily since you dont lose anything when you are killed anymore.. No XP lost, No Items Lost, Plenty of Pride Lost -Ice
