The man known as Bael was seen last night being hauled in chains by Flaming Fist officers. Word spread of his alleged extortion of a traveller - demanding payment from a man he'd saved from a pack of gnolls - and other previous alleged crimes. Despite mocking the arresting officers for the duration of their trip to the Fists' keep, he went with them willingly, and witnesses may have noticed him walking with a rather non-chalant attitude.

Bael is also accused with the assault upon a man near Wyrm's Crossing.
The Flaming Fist sends messengers to seek these witnesses for testimony.
((This is for the attack upon Caljinaar. Those who were a witness to the attack can please send me a PM or post here. Thanks!)

A letter to Lt. McBride concerning their discussion about Tezzeret (Caljinaar)
Lt. McBride, I am putting in writing what we discussed about the assault on Tezzeret as you requested.
On the evening in question, I was speaking with Sylvia Ducet near the merchant camp about her closing the Eleventh Hour. Bael, as her bodyguard, came up to check on her, and then looked about and left pretty quickly muttering something. Shortly after I returned to the campfire and began speaking with Lady Vaania. I overheard Bael threatening someone over in between some of the wagons. Upon closer inspection, it was Tezzeret. Bael was accusing the man of eavesdropping on mine and Sylvia's conversation, and was becoming increasingly threatening and hostile about it. Tezzeret said again and again that he had done no such thing. Before I could react, Bael had drawn his sword and cut the man down. I grabbed Bael as he tried to cover Tezzeret and himself with his cloak - I am not certain why he did this I can only guess his cloak is magical in some way. I yelled for help and Sylvia and Valerius the outcast came up and kept an eye on Bael while I tried to tend to Tezzeret's wounds. I was able to stablize and heal him, but shortly after a traveler ran up searching for me because the corpse of Boddynock the Weave Master had been found up the road in some bushes. Seeing that Tezzeret was alright and there were several more witnesses about I ran to tend to Boddynock.
Those are the events as I remember them. It should be noted that Valerius seemed extremely surprised at this behavior from Bael, and that Sylvia seemed to approve of it. However, as Sylvia's memories are now gone due to a magical incident and the personae Tonya has surfaced, I do not feel any action should be taken against her for supporting Bael's actions.
Sincerely,
Jonas Rokranon, paladin of Ilmater

After a day and a half of travel from the Elfsong for work of some sort. A hooded figure walks silently while Beregost fades from distance.
Word of a man name Bael arrested for extortion of a traveller and assault of another, has spead around by gossip and rumors on the roads leading away from Baulder's Gate.
Word of such reached the ears of a man known to the accused. Not to fond of Bael, the hooded figure only smirks within the shadows as he hears such news.
Whipsering to himself he says "If you wasn't so foolish you wouldn't have attracted such attention." Always gold with you eh. You did help me out once before even if it was payment.......... "Prehaps you could help me again." "Will help that is". "But this time I will have the upper hand. You will owe me."
*The hooded figure gathers is traveling pack and turns to head back to Baulder's Gate, He looks ahead of the road and grins.*
"Indeed my friend, Indeed"

(( This is the PM that I sent Mithari, when the call for witnesses first went forth. I'm leaving it almost entirely unedited, even though some of the information has changed -- e.g., Sylvia is no longer Sylvia, etc. )) A letter is delivered to the Flaming Fist Compound, addressed to Duke Eltan, and stamped with Valerius's arcane mark. There is no other writing on the envelope, though the paper is high-quality and well-made. Likely from Candlekeep. To His Grace, The Honorable Duke Eltan: This letter is concerning the recent assault of a man at the trade caravans to the south of Baldur's Gate. I fear it is to my regret that I admit that I did not witness the entire confrontation. I was some distance away when said confrontation is said to have occurred. These are the details that I know: I heard a close friend, Jonas Rokranon, Paladin of Ilmater, calling my name. There was urgency in his voice, so I quickly came to his aid. On arrival, I found Jonas struggling with the mercenary known as Bael, over a hooded man on the ground. I was informed by Jonas that Bael had beaten this man, apparently for no reason. When I questioned Bael about this, he told me it was because the hooded man had been spying on a private conversation that I had been holding with Miss Sylvia Ducet, Bael, and Jonas, earlier. The hooded man was reticent, when questioned, and refused to remove his hood or answer Bael's charges. Before I could get to the bottom of it, however, a gentleman came running towards the campfire asking for aid: A body was found up the road, and they wanted someone to raise it. Since Jonas had his hands full, I went to investigate the body, which belonged to another friend, the gnome illusionist, Boddynock Namfoodle. Because I was busy with this, I do not know how the situation at the caravans ended. I know that this will not help much in your quest for justice, but it is all that I know. May Helm watch over you, yours, and the city of Baldur's Gate. Your faithful servant, Valerius

During his travels, this hooded man passes a another person on the road and stops to ask him "if he came from Baulders Gate?"
"Yes". said the other traveler.
The hooded figure decided next to ask "then what are the talks of town concerning an arrest?"
The ragged traveler only stated that he would have to head to the Elfsong for those talks. "Many other things has happen. Last I know a man name Bael is still being held for assault."
The Hooded figure said nothing more and continue his walk towards Baulders Gate.
"Then it is not too late". I must hurry.

A hooded figure clad in dark clothes moveing along the shadows has almost reached the entrance to Baulder's Gate. He stops to take a rest before continuing. *Grabs some dried meat and berries from his pack.* "Two more hours".
The journey back was slowed due to goblins, ogres and gnolls. He whispers to himself "First things first, I need to reach the Elfsong Tavern. Drunken fools always lets their own mouths run wild." "Then I will have to look for another friend." *Rubs his last reward and slowly touches it with his fingers*. "Lets see how much you could help me."
Today will be busy indeed.
