The bard song the sanctuary one does not give sanctuary was told in game by another cleric's spell has same problem. I think when they put TonyK's AI in the 1.22 patch it kind of changed this. It seems to mostly work when I use it, but it's definitely different. The monsters tend to run up to me and then turn around once they are next to me which was completely different from before. I don't think it's bothered any one enough to warrant looking into yet though. It's some what good as well because sanctuary and haven song were a bit abusive before since nothing would ever attack you.

Er... how abusive is it to actually have your class ability work? I'd be disappointed to have this not work, since it's the ONLY thing I have to protect myself while contributing to a battle with buffs and healing. Standing still singing and casting in NWN2 really screws over your defense, unlike tabletop.

Haven song requires a will check. My former bard with maximized charisma had a DC of 25 at level 16 if I remember correctly. Consequently, it is not a good idea to depend solely upon this ability to escape hostiles, especially if you have a low charisma build and/or are up against creatures with high will saves.
When using this ability keep an eye on the combat log. If the mobs' will saves are successful, keep running and try again.
When I really needed to stay safe, I would use haven song, invisibility and stealth all at once.

I know, I use invis combined with stealth when scouting and looking for traps for example. Every so often however, a monster will detach from it's mob and run up to me to attack me, regardless of how good my skill is and the fact that I have invis on. In these circumstances, I often kick on the Haven Song to give myself a bit of breathing room so I'm not facing all enemies at once, and allowing myself a few precious rounds to either move back, get behind cover/concealment, or switch modes to something combat related so I can defend myself.
I don't think having this class ability and keeping it useful like this is in any way abusive or out of line. Otherwise what the hell good is the power if it never works?

From my time in using it I never noticed it wasn't working. When the will check failed, my PC was safe. When it succeeded, the mobs kept attacking. That is exactly how sanctuary (which haven song copies) is supposed to work according to the description. I'll get my old bard out and make sure nothing changed but I'm pretty certain that it still functions properly.

I would just stroll through dungeons using that and everything would ignore me. That wasn't correct behavior. That's a bug.

Strange, because I did get attacked before 1.22 if the mobs' will save succeeded. I remember wondering many times why the ability wasn't working until I checked the description and started paying attention to the die rolls.

I just got done testing and haven song worked just fine for me. As long as the will save failed, mobs would stop attacking me.

I dont know if this is related, but my SD had to enter HIPS and move, because the mobs kept following him, even without detecting him, sort of like a metagaming mob. I got a wolf chasing me through the entire area, transition to transition, like waiting for me to fail my MS check or he succeed his listen/spot check. He could never spot me, but he kept following me anyway, lol, totally lame. Damn you Metagamer AI!
