I Would argue that a ranger with like a panther or wolf would be able to use it.. I mean the Romans and other civilizations would use war dogs/pets for fighting and scouting, or what not..
BUT this is SirC's guild.. so his word is final. -Ice

I forgot to add bard. I can't really see a bard in uniform, but I'm not going to forbid it.
As for pets, the point about the wolf is a good one. Perhaps a wolf RPed as a trained dog would be good, but I'd leave out the panther.

How about Monks? I have one that is pretty lowlevel still but was send by the order of Illmater to protect the streets so he could possibly be a good addition to the fist;).
Just curious

Just curious The Flaming Fist is a mercenary group, which means they hire themselves out. Currently the city of Baldur's Gate is paying them, so they act like the police of the area. However, I don't think a monk of Ilmater would join a mercenary group. If he did, the Ilmaterans would not be pleased at all.

Mmh well my monk was sent to this area but was let the choice to join forces with the Flaming Fist or not(I am not in any order of Illmater with this char...it's just part of his background but if you dont want me I'll just patroll the streets by myself;).
Would be a shame though if adventureres would find a single monk protecting the streets more than the whole fist;)
Well I would still be interested in joining the fist if possible just send me a message;)

*The burly dwarf Largos Stormhammer walks into the tavern and notices the message posted on the wall.*
"Aye this might be just the thing i be lookin' fer! The chance to do some justice, kill som uglies and earn some gold!"
*Largos borrows the tavernkeepers pen and writes a note on the list*
I wish to join the mighty Flaming Fist Mercenary Company! I am a dwarven ranger, although i am not an archer but an axe thrower and also good in close quarters with my sturdy Dwarven Axe and my Hammer. I can track farely well and i am quite strong.
I got a big but friendly boar with me who is completely tame and follows my every command. My main goals is to serve justice and make a fortune for my own personal reasons wich i cannot say but believe me they are just as just as your own i would think. I hope my services are wanted and needed.

//OOC
Largos, you need to be level 5 minimum to join, but I would recommend getting a little higher than that before signing up. About the boar, I'll have to think about it because it does seems a bit odd. A wolf could be portrayed as a dog. Anyway, I'll bring that up.
I'll talk to you in game when I get the chance.

*As Kreatos Stormbringer enters in the Elf Song Tavern, he notices something different and starts to read the post and says to himself "Well...the Fist is needing some men, I'll show what the seafearers can do !", so he leaves to the Flaming Fist Headquarters to signup"

Alexandr Basmanov 7lv fighter/frenzied berserker
My greetings!I have recently appeared in Baldurs Gate.It is a wonderful place, but I have understood that security of citizens in this peaceful place isnt total. Since I had been attacked in the Baldurs Gate, I have understood that I want to sacriface my life for peace and security to our society!
"Alexandr Basmanov was attacked in the middle of the streets by the fountain inside Baldur's Gate. First an arrow was shot, then a bolt of lightning followed soon after. No sign of the attackers was found and when asked he stated he'd had an argument earlier in the day with a human warrior wearing silver platemail with dark hair. He said during the argument which was by the Mining Company, the man attacked him and he knocked him out. Then a blue man with lightning in his dark hair wearing black armor and a wizard wearing red robes followed by a skeletal undead minion appeared and tried to attack him as well so he ran. I believe these last two were behind the attack by the fountain but no sign of them as been found as of yet. Serious offense and especially dangerous since they were bold enough to do so inside the City."
Dear sirs of flaming fist!Could I offer my amenities,my services and life for name of Flaming Fist and for peace of Baldur Gate?

// Posted this originally in the Flaming Fist thread, and then found this one later. (doh) I've posted it here, since it seems more appropriate.
*A letter enclosed in an envelope arrives at the Flaming Fist headquarters. The letter is sealed in proper military fashion, and reads as follows:*
To the Lieutenant of the Flamming Fist:
I request your permision to enter the city and join the ranks of the Flamming Fist. My wife and I both agree that I have become complasent, a dangerous waste of my time. With all the rising trubles that are aginst the good people of this land, I wish to offer my servises as I have before promised. I am a devout folower of Torm and want the greatest good and order for the people of this fine land. I have learned much from the monestary and my recent years here. I have dealt with the enemies of your ranks as often as many of your own men have, and as such I ask to be given ofishal status as a Private of the Flamming Fist. Some of your own men have seen me fight, and will atest to my abillity. I will serve gladly under the orders of my officers. I can be contacted at the Feldepost Inn. My wife and I curentely live there, and Feldepost can keep the massage for me if I'm not at home. If permision to join is granted, might I request to be given a uniform that isn't too hevy? All that armor is really hard to move around in.
Torm's strength upon you, ~ Berel Greenwillow
P.S. Pardon any mis-speled words. I'm afraid my dear scholarly wife is not home at the moment to help a poorly edjucated person like myself.

Paws sword stolen by one-eye with spear at merchant caravan in front of friends! Paws hit one-eye spearchucker with backup ax... got sword back. Berel and Foggy helped. Paws not want that happen to anyone else. Paws not much like rules, but like bad people less. Coin is motivating too.

The other man takes it and reads through after which the two of them share a laugh. The first folds the paper and sets it in a drawer. "I think this is one I'll have to keep for when I need some levity around here."
