Ok, the other day a few mages and I went to the third level of the estate and fought nightwalkers and vampires. Nightwalkers and Vampires seem to have a quite huge amount of damage reduction. Nights have 15 DR and vamps 10 DR. I don't even know what kind of penetration it has... we have HARDLY ANY WAYS TO PENETRATE DR on this server. I don't think it was magic cause I had Greater magic weapon on me on the time. Can't check good weapons cause pallies are rare these days. And if it is ADAMANDINE, well, you better do something devs =P. If it is physical, curse me for my low creature knowledge, but I don't think it is. You NEED uuber Strength or buffed power attack to simply damage these guys in melee. Factor in that Nightwalkers have huge amounts of health and a 21 DC finger o' death and you have some scary creatures 0.o Oddly enough, the creatures seem have dumb CR syndrome, meaning that even though nightwalkers are way harder than Vampires they still give less xp. Another problem with these guys (and skeletons below, *nods toward Norik*) is their AB. Without a caster buffing you, FIGHTERS CAN'T TANK FOR ****. With only +1 items readily available, and +2 items taking 10 levels of stockpiling to get, fighters are the opposite of tanks. Well, a dwarven RDD dwarven defender (laugh at me ) with UMD might be able to tank solo, but no other melee can.

Its not magic DR. Actually magic dmg was the only way i was even hurting the nightwalkers on my Cleric. He was doing 3 magic dmg only from his divine favour. the rest of my dmg was being soaked up by the DR. It does seem a but unfair to give these monsters DR when there are no possible ways to counteract it in place in the game at this time. If we had the metal ingots and hammers so we could create different metal weapons, then sure. But right now, we cant do that and this basically means, the only people that can really hurt these creatures are mages/clerics with magic. Or unless you have some kind of superduper weapon Personally i think the nightwalkers hp are fine and also the finger of death, considering how much xp you can get from them, its just seems out of whack that we do not have the means to damage them in the game, yet they have this DR in place.

The main issues here is that the playerbase has rapidly increased their level to the point of us not being able to do much about it. In fact players werent supposed to go higher than 10th level, and even then that was stretching it.
The mobs in the server now are either really low CR or to high of a CR for anyone to take them on solo. Also its JLF and Driller's intent to make higher end places less solo friendly, so keep that in mind as well. As for their DR, someone either left it on the creature or increased it not knowing the reprocussions involved. This is something that will need to be tweaked.
The gear issue is being worked on, but since Im really the only one doing items my time is split between DMing and making gear for you guys to use. The coin issue doesnt help this either as coin is so rare my items wouldnt do much use anyways. Ill counteract that by doin some special quests giving out a piece of gear, but that will be far and few inbetween.

I'll compare the night walkers from the standard DM client to the ones on our server to see if anything was changed, and then I can tell you exactly what was changed if any.
If nothing was changed then they must be like most mobs and are a standard creature, which means they are suppose to be that tough.
Personally I dont think the night walkers belong in that house -any- way but thats just me.

Tested this, nothing is out of wack with them, they are as the other dms have already stated the same creature from the original client.
The issue is, as has already been stated the lack of magic weapons to peirce the damage reduction.
I still think they should be moved but thats just me.

Yeah, those guys are out of place. I just want to kill some vampires which are easier and give more xp . But it does seems those guys were stuck in without much thought for balance, although I'm sure the dev team will fix this, and they probably weren't meant for fighting anway. The point is, only a few builds can even damage these guys. The problem isn't as much the magic level as much as the ability to craft weapons for DR purpose (i.e. in the OC you might craft an adamantine weapon because most DR stuff requires it to be pierced). I don't know about mithril armor, but we should be able to have stuff with cold iron, alchemetical silver, and adamtine properties.

Ill see about to tossin some different material weapons into the game. But even if I did put them in, youd have to be able to afford them first -Ice

Isn't that what wolves are for? ;D
The first day the bounty started, I went from seeing no one else in my play-time to camping out with about 6 or 7 people runnin' around, hunting them like crazy.

Only problem with that bounty is, being 25 gold a wolf hide(and also being the only source of money/bounty) its going to hit the new players hardest because you have all these highbies running around killing the wolves for the hides and the new players cant even get xp because the wolves are being killed

May become a problem at night, but I haven't encountered it in the day.
When several people were hunting, we just went "you take east, I'll take west."
I think a simple drop script was included as well. Periodically a chest now has gold (highest gathered = 96 gold) and a few small items.
The higher level people were mostly rushing off to kill undead and red dragon disciples. ;D

The drop script has always been there. Everything drops chests eventually. Just depends on your luck o fthe roll when the crature dies.

I have been thinking on the matter of the bounties, and sometime within the next 24 hours I will be submitting an idea for a bounty-style quest for those pcs who are levesl 5-10 in level range, that way the lowbies can have their wolves.
I am also muleing over a bounty-style quest for levels 10+
