I have messed around with a few area's and scripts for a greyhawk themed module I want to test out in the distant future, but my skill level is not anywhere close to your standards.
I am however, looking for any tutorials or websites that have to do with creature development. I am curious to know what programs are primarily used for modeling. I currently have Rhino 3.0 and Adobe CS4 web premium on the way. I am not sure if these programs have the 3d modeling capacity that is needed to create creatures.

I am not too familiar with such things but I do know that Obsidian used the program Granny. That would pretty much make 3D modeling an impossibility for most people except for the release of of a program on NWvault that converts Granny files to 3Dmax (3DsMax?) compatible files. I do not know what other programs may be usable in this regard.

Eeesh! Granny looks to be about 12,500 to 15,000 K. Kinda out of my price range - Guess ill stick to area building for now and research some cheaper programs.

for modelling your going to need:
3dsmax.
there are free exporters on the vault that you can use to get the content from 3dsmax into NWN2 just use the google to find 'em.
You can search for:
CCarmortutorial.pdf which is the exact tutorial doc you will need to get up to speed on modeling armor and getting it into NWN2.
the issue is getting 3dsmax at a reasonable price.
rhino is a decent surface modeller but afaik the freeware exporters wont let you get the stuff into nwn2 from rhino.
granny is only needed for animation (i.e. creatures and what not).
oh, and if it's you dinging my karma constantly sevendust i would appreciate you pm or note in the thread when you do so i can understand what exactly you think warrants it.
thanks!

If you built a mimic and posted it on the vault, every PW would use it.

A mimic would be great but don't you think that's a more suitable project for BouncyRock instead of a neophyte that doesn't have access to the program that makes custom animation possible? hehe!
Although maybe someone should submit that idea to BouncyRock.
But yes, a mimic would do in those arrogant rogues who think they can solo Durlag's tower. *evil grin*

To bad I can't do graphics.
I bet a crappy looking basic mimic can be done using the chest model that comes with the game. Take that model, just make it move, and make the lid pop up and down to make it look like a mouth trying to bite you. All the animations are already there in the basic model for a chest.

It's not me dinging your karma. I don't even know how to do that.

Speaking of karma....
I successfully predicted the drop in my score after posting that no one smites me for disagreeing with them. *cackles with glee* It really is fun to manipulate the actions of others!
And I know that you were responding to Adzling and not to me but I couldn't resist another opportunity to display boundless arrogance.

well i have had some spare cycles at work this past week so i have been getting to grips with creating new 3d models for nwn2. im starting simple with a drow hand crossbow and some drow specific weaponry. right now im getting the work flow ironed out, it's quite complex.
should see a final drow crossbow next week *fingers crossed* followed by final sets of custom armor for the drow.
i'll post any progress i make here.
