Why are Goblins harder to kill than the Ogres?

They have much better DEX making them harder to his, they are fast, there are more of them, they cast spells, use sneak attack, and explode. What's to make them easier?

Lore, mainly. If you read FR novels and sourcebooks goblins are consistently the runts of the hordes, the fodder for goblinoid armies.. and the easier-to-dispatch foes that the heroes face.
That said, though it confused me at first as well, I don't mind it. I like our current set up.

Also goblins are lazy and not known for their military training and drill. So i too wonder why they are harder then Ogres ^^
The only advantage they usually have is that they come in HUFE numbers.

mmh in Baldur's Gate one could meet ones first ogres way earlier than the goblins. But I agree on the Oger being stronger ussually;) What I really like and hate are the sappers on one hand it's good they are there to make it harder to just run by to get to bereghost. On the other hand they are just mean;).
Off Topic Question: will Nashkell be rebuild anytime? cause it seems to me the hill giants well... DESTROYED it;)

They are harder because they came from Blackstone, which was a high magic world. They were added as placeholders only. Lore-wise they probably need to be replaced.

I know that the mod's CR tend to go up when you go south, but personaly, I would like to see something like: Mobs near city: Weak Mobs far from city: Medium Mobs in the wilderness: Hard. Its not very logical to have that much goblins or whatever, with that CR so close to Beregost. Should be more like, I dont know, harder mobs when you are in between cities, in the wilderness. But I dont think thats possible now. But in the future, when the movement is not so linear, and you can chose to travel north-south, east-west through the forests or roads, and we have way more areas, maybe its possible to chose your starting city/town, like Beregost/Candlekeep/Baldur's Gate, and have close to them low lvl mobs, and when you go far from a city they get harder to kill. And when you start to get close to another city it gets easy again. Dont know if that makes any sense, but to me it does.
