Greetings.
I only used crafting in the original NWN2 game, so I am not familiar with any upgrades since then despite playing Mask and SOZ. From what I remember, you needed ingots and a mold for making shields and armor. I am looking to make (non-magical) mithral armor for myself and have acquired a few ingots from a "traveling merchant". Do I also have to find another traveling merchant to get a mold to try this out? Or is there a stationary merchant to purchase these from in the game?
Also, in NWN2 the mithral light shields had a -5% spell casting chance, but I was told by a player in game that this is not the case. Jut to confirm, was the -% taken off in Balders Gate?

Mithril shields were not modified in any way.
Furthermore, there is no crafting system implemented at the moment. The Devs are working on it though and it looks like we will end up with a modified version of the SoZ system.

Oh...I guess I will hold onto the ingots then.

Sometimes a dm will do a trading event in which you can exchange ingots for a discount on armor of the same material type. At least that's what I did for one suit of mithril armor.

It does bother me that mithril is pick and choose on the ASF.
Mithril Chain Shirts, for example, do not gain the -Arcane Spell Failure % that mithril is supposed to give.
And while I am against the large amount of people that choose to be melee Eldritch Knights, I think this should be remedied.

The mith chain shirt I bought from the smithy did work correctly. It was at 10%, while a regular chain shirt is at 20%.
My question was about the mithral shield. I was attempting to buy one from a "traveling merchant" when a player sent me a tell that the shields do not give a -5% on arcane failure, which I knew was incorrect. The Merchant didn't "have one" regardless, but I wanted to clarify the mithral spell failure thing.
One last note: If you manage to get an improved chain shirt - it will lose its extra AC bonus if you modify it. I found out the hard way.
