Just a few quick questions:
My main guy is currently level 8 so I have not explored very far beyond Bergost and the first area of the cloakwood. I just want to know how many towns/cities are in this game. So far I know of:
Balder's Gate Candlekeep Beregost The trade city in the Underdark
Am I missing any others?
Also:
1) Are undead lurking only in The field of the Dead? Or are some available in a lower level setting? I was spanked horribly by an undead adventurer with a big pike the moment I hit the field of the dead. I am asking mainly because my main is a Cleric of Jergal that dabbles in Necromancy (Companions of the Pallid Mask), and has a strong dislike of undead.
2) I was lucky enough to come across a mithral chain shirt for sale in Balder's gate. Are their stronger mithral arnors/shields or elven chainmail available in the game?
3) Other than the merchant league, do any neutral active guilds or adventuring companies exist? I am lawful neutral, so I do not think too many good groups would trust me, and my aversion to undead would most likely be a problem in evil guilds like the iron throne.

For now, that's all the civilization there is in here. Nashkel exists, but in an alternate form. I won't give away what form. ;D The Inn at the Crossroads will eventually be the Friendly Arm Inn, as various personages keep saying every now and then. I'm sure other civilized parts of the world will be added at some point as well. 1.) Undead are in other places, too. Keep looking. 2.) I don't think there are enchanted mithril items yet. 3.) The Flaming Fist would take a lawful neutral person in their ranks, but that is a heavy RP guild. I don't know if you like that kind of thing or not. The Weave Masters also use fighter types, but that guild is full of a bunch of pansies.

No mithral or other off normal metals are enchanted in the game. There are however plenty of normal metal and component enchanted gear. These items are sold by different merchants carrying different stock.. Travel around and collect them all! As for the other questions, SirC has beaten me to it -Ice

At the moment I am just looking for normal mithral armor heavier than a chain shirt. I didnt think about actually crafting it. Can the stock merchants be found in cities or must I seek them out in the wilds? I have seen iron ingots drop off of golems but thats about it.
One more question. Do any of the temples have a priest with specialty enchanted blunt weapons for sale?
Thanks for all the answers.

Ahh Ol' Nahum and his chicken fetish... Well, it was either that or meteor swarm. Hmmm... maybe I need a new spell to cast. ;D

There arent any priest merchants yet, nor is there a great supply of Mithral armors (or any other random material for that fact) For the time being Im sure you could ask a DM when they are on if they could play the part of a merchant and sell you some.... However to deal with DM's you generally have to be an RPer -Ice
