ok im not going to further derail this thread than absoutely nec. so my final comment.
I agree with most of what you're saying broham2, I have no problem with someone playing a goblin (it does sound appealing) given the proper setting (i.e. in a goblin tribe and not in a drow city) however there are some things so far beyond the pale that they could never happen lorewise, would dilute the setting if allowed AND have serve absolutely no purpose beyond allowing every player to anything they like with no restrictions.
Being able to do whatever you like absent restrictions is the hallmark of a child imho (note this is a general comment and not meant to relate to you whom i barely know) and is the kind of attitude prevalent on many mmo's where children congregate.
There is as big difference from understandable variations to FR lore as and when nec. and not sticking to it 100% however that's a far cry from tearing it's head off and crapping down it's neck which is what this would be from a drow rp perspective.
I could care less if people deviated from what i think is "right" character wise (for example i would NEVER play a halfling paladin but that's me) however i do care if they want to play something outside of the server lore & faeraun lore JUST BECAUSE.
My last server was populated with these kind of inane things and it just came to debase the entire playing experience when you are constantly running into pure cheese such as werewolf, svrifneblin, druid, monks wearing platemail.
Hold the cheese i'll take a rich and meaningful player world anyday.
carry on.
