haha as long as those kobold/ goblin slaves are limited to level 5 or so!!
the thought of a level 20 epic goblin killing hordes of drow just seems hilariously nutty (in a cheese type way).

Not to mention with his work, it is rumored the LONG AWAITED fix of haks loading before character creation! That would be nice. We could add more hair and faces to... |

That means it would be so much easier to see say.. kobold/goblin PC's running around the UD as slaves etc... so many possibilities will open to the dev team.  Hmm.. well if anyone has permission to be a special race (like Kobold/Goblin), don't let this stop you. I can edit character files on the vault and make them into special races. I imagine other staff on here can do it to. |

Yes, awesome!! Gah... makes you think what a dark place NWN2 would be without the Grinning Fool. haha as long as those kobold/ goblin slaves are limited to level 5 or so!! the thought of a level 20 epic goblin killing hordes of drow just seems hilariously nutty (in a cheese type way). I don't think it would be far-fetched to see goblins over lvl 5. Many slaves in the Drow city-states are trained by their slave-owners for arena and even bodyguard use. I remember this one time when I was playing as a lvl 3 Duergar on a NWN1 UD server and I met this Drow mistress and two of her goblin slaves deep within the Underdark, and my character refused to bow to the mistress which resulted in my character getting butchered by the goblins. ;D I lost about 500 xp I think, but it didn't matter because moments where you actually have to take responsibility over your actions and choices are the sweetest moments there is imo.  |

guys hold on here.
Drow would NEVER tolerate power being accessible to slave races, regardless of utility to themselves. Drow society is built upon slavery and any possibility of them losing control means death to their city and way of life.
What you witnessed on another server deserk would never actually happen.
A Drow female would NEVER allow herself to be accompanied by goblins, it's demeaning to her. She would choose much more capable drow warriors.
Slave races are viewed as fodder by the drow and are kept that way on purpose.
While i understand people's wish to be able to play anything and do whatever you like when it goes against inherent logic of the world it eventually ends up destroying and demeaning the environment for everyone.
If you wanted to play a goblin PC you would be *much* better served living as a member of goblin tribe in a cave somewhere (in the underdark or on the surface) as opposed to in the city of Sshamath where you would be treated as a slave and no better than rothe-dung. There would be no exceptions to this, period.

Just remember that this is a fantasy setting that thus far has been controlled/guided by PC actions (within limits) and hasn't been 100% held to FR Lore standards for the time period. There are always going to be things that happen on this server that do not match up with the 'right' way of doing things per FR canon sources. There are going to be people that play characters that you don't think 'are right', it comes with this sort of setting (NOT Hardcore RP). |

Being able to do whatever you like absent restrictions is the hallmark of a child imho (note this is a general comment and not meant to relate to you whom i barely know) and is the kind of attitude prevalent on many mmo's where children congregate.
There is as big difference from understandable variations to FR lore as and when nec. and not sticking to it 100% however that's a far cry from tearing it's head off and crapping down it's neck which is what this would be from a drow rp perspective.
I could care less if people deviated from what i think is "right" character wise (for example i would NEVER play a halfling paladin but that's me) however i do care if they want to play something outside of the server lore & faeraun lore JUST BECAUSE.
My last server was populated with these kind of inane things and it just came to debase the entire playing experience when you are constantly running into pure cheese such as werewolf, svrifneblin, druid, monks wearing platemail.
Hold the cheese i'll take a rich and meaningful player world anyday.

I think if there are to be races such as that they need to have strict Level and Class restrictions. |

You exaggerate a lot here, this happened deep within the Underdark where there is alot of hostility and dangerous creatures, not in the center of a Drow city. I can't see nothing wrong with her picking up a few goblins over there and using them as fodder. I mean she didn't even speak a word to my character. Drows would obviously pick survival and necessity over status when their deep within the Underdark tunnels, surrounded by lots of ungodly creatures. (Otherwise they would have never survived in the Underdark in the first place) Also be careful when you say "never", because you absolutely can't speak for them all, and in this situation that just isn't true at all. You speak as if every Drow female are from some rich and noble house, which isn't possible and doesn't work that way at all. |

I agree that it might be better if Goblins or Kobolds started as some sort of tribe or village in the UD, that would have been sort of cool. I've sort of experienced something some-what close to what adzling has experienced like maybe on Amia, which is a server on NWN1... where there is an annoyingly large number of half-devil lesbian-played-by-a-guy players. (Forgive me while I slap my face for mentioning it)  But for every dark side there is a contrast, because I've also experienced a server where all the custom races (like kobolds, goblins, orogs) are fitted into the server so well that it makes it really feel like a large world of itself. They've basically divided the UD races, by giving the Drows a city of their own, while the other UD races get to start in a settlement where each race have a clan or guild to have the possibility to join with, but ultimately all these races have to protect each other at some point due to the constant aggression from the Drows. (It might have also helped, that the overwhelming number of people who played there were pretty damn good RPers. ) Altough you get a radically different experience from playing Drow and non-Drow races, and its a really awesome experience seeing these two worlds connect together in either prosperity or conflict. Sometimes there are even organized groups that are formed between them so that they can raid on the surface, which I myself was a part of... and that was a hell of a cool moment, because we managed to storm into an ancient fort and held it for several hours while being sieged by the surfacers outside. In the end it escalated to the a really large and epic battle in which my character managed to escape alive from. |
