Delthrien invited the young elven ranger, Elohir for a walk and a visit to the shrine of their beloved lady Mielikki.
After trading a few words along the way, they finally reached the shrine where they posted themselves to pray peacefully to the lady of the forest... But not for long.
An arrow came ripping the air in their direction and piercing the ground near them.
Noticing the danger, Daelthrien unsheathed his blades and plunged into the shadows while young Elohir got his bow and start firing arrow after arrow in the man's direction piercing through his chainmail.
Coming out of nothing, Daelthrien, with his two blades at hand slew the young man with cuts and pierces of his swords.
The two examined the man that was wearing a chainmail and carried heavily poisoned arrows. At this moment Galad Faromil appeared to complete the rangers trio.
With little time to greetings, the three rangers followed the tracks of the assassin to the bridge that led to Beregost. From there, they heard another man, apparently speaking to himself.
Daelthrien tried to immobilize the man from behind but his thin elven arms were not enough to hold the man. Daelthrien tried to convince the man not to attack, but it was in vain.
The single human archer stood little challenge against the three elven rangers that slew the man as soon as he tried to knock an arrow.
They still needed information on the attacks, and the answer came near the place they found the archer. In a hill, six man were talking about getting rid of the elven rangers. The group managed to hide and listen for that conversation.
Seeing the conversation would not go any further... Daelthrien quit the shadows revealing himself unnarmed to the assassins. It was a msitake, for the six attacked Daelthrien who had little time to react.
Galad and Elohir fired their arrows at an amazing pace but a big half-orc managed to hit Daelthrien's face with his gigantic mace, leaving the elf unconscious and with a mortal wound in the ground.
The enemies were all dead, except for a wizard that vanished little time after the battle started.
Galad and Elohir were already mourning Daelthrien's death when a sudden blue light came in response of their prayers to Mielikki.
The wounded elf, was no longer wounded, but he was still on the ground in pain. Slowly, he regained his senses and once again he could talk, just to ask if the attackers were dead.
At that moment, the wizard reappeared before the ranger's eyes. This time, he did not attack the group... he just wanted to talk.
He explained to the three rangers that he had a task, along with the other attackers: to assassinate the Rangers of Mielikki.
The wizard explained that it was part of an initiation to an order called "The Blades", an evil faction that worshiped the god of murder Bhaal.
He said also that he wouldn't join the order anymore since he saw no reason left to join them.
Galad brought the pieces together and assumed that if they wanted the rangers dead, they should be planning a strike in the wilds.
On his last words, the wizard told the trio that the initiation meeting went in the Blade and Stars inn... which should be a good place to start searching for the group.
The mage disappeared leaving behind what seemed to be a book of necromancy, which Daelthrien found best keep with him and deliver to the ArchDruid, Tarsakh.
The trio discussed a while more, and after some decisions they spread to begin the search for the order that wished their deaths.
The hunt has begun.
