This has recently started for reasons which I have no idea. I can go about questing in an area normally til a new player enters it, when the player enters the area it freezes my computer. What the heck?
If I witness the character make the transition its fine but if I'm not in sight range of that character then my comp freezes, I confirm this by as soon as I log in I check "P" and somebody is in the area that wasn't before.

This happens to many, not just you.
i can tell when someone enters an area because there is a lag spike.
I think it basically has to do with the area updateing...or something.

It is extremely odd b/c this is not a known bug. I've never experienced this issue on any server. I can't even begin to think what it is.
On the positive side... when everything is going good.. this new setup we have is POWERFUL! We have it good when everything is 100%. *shrugs*

I think the on-enter and HB (possibly spawn as well although they should be called from one of those) scripts need to be evaluated.

This did also happen to me on NWN1 PW servers, I've a 100% different computer now so I know its not that, but I do find it odd that its not a known or recognized bug if its not only happening to me..

Do players normally run around with tons of stuff in their inventory?

Does the amount of items in an inventory correlate to the amount of lag?
No better case could be made for permanent storage...

A number of issues can arise when players haul around tons of stuff beyond the fac that the server has to load and track all of them.
For example, when a client logs on to the module it's loaded naked and then the items are acquired and equippped. If you have a robust module wide acquire/equip script this will be fired for every item the PC acriures/equips. Ditto if you have a lot TBS items.

If items do cause lag I'll uh have to modify my "anti-theft" system. Please let us know.

It doesn't automatically mean anything, it all depends on how the world is built.
Although a server full of people with loaded inventories will be under higher stress than those with light inventories.

Doesn't match up, as players have had full inventories prior to the issues experienced now. Lots of items still contributes to lag. The server has to keep track of ever single currently in existance, the more items you have the more it has to keep track of. Thats the number one reason why we demand that people pick up every single thing that is dropped frmo enemys so its easier for the server to keep tabs on.
