Now that we have the ships in the server (great addition, by the way!) I realized they have no place to go yet. When I did an event on them, the problem of where the destination would be hit me. Since we are already all the way down south to the Cloud Peaks, it would only take a couple more maps to get to Trademeet, and from there, Athkatla. The ships could run from the two cites. Also, having another major city would be a good reason to have two starting locations on the surface. The level progression from Athkatla to the Cloud Peaks could be similar to that from BG to the mountains.
Even if it isn't Athkatla (though I really want to be able to visit there) it'd be nice to have at least one place to go to on the ships.
I'm sure I'll come up with some more work-increasing ideas in the future.
Comments anyone?

But seriously, Trademeet would have to be put in as a land waypoint if Athkatla were added because it's on the way. Not everybody likes ships, you know!

I think Josh will add some island areas for us to use the ships. And some open sea areas as well. But a major city would be incredibly awesome, but i doubt we will have it now....We still lack some areas near BG and Beregost, like High Hedge, the area behind the Temple of Lathander, Deeper in the Woods of the Sharp Teeth and the Firewine Bridge for example.....

Another major urban area would be great, but I think the staff is a lot more concerned about PW balance and mechanics, especially seeing we will be having a major Underdark city being added soon. Say, if three or four players got together to make one and it turned out all right, it would probably get added.
I do think we need to flesh out the areas around BG first though. If an urban area was added, I would probably go for one of the smaller villages, like Gullykin, Daggerford or Roaringshore.

Before you add another major city, you need to have people interested in the current cities. BG, Beregost, and Candlekeep all lie as ghost towns, no one is ever in them unless they absolutly need supplies, even then its Maltz, or Thunderhammer, then vacate again.
More areas need to be flushed out, and the cities actually need to be interesting before trying to do another one.

That'll teach them! Alternatively, thieves and robber could spawn in the alleyways of the city giving at least the lower levels a reason to stick around. Remember all the thugs that would ambush in Baldur's Gate II?

Well I can arrange for thieves and assassins to wait around in the city for people .... But I dont think you want The Sword Coast's Elite team of assassins waiting around for unsuspecting people now do we. -Ice

If I can make a comment, though it might not fit with actual design. A wider space in bg, like a fountain with benches, and open areas, with some vendors, might be a good gathering place in bg, and might attract players. Also, some dungeons in the city itself might raise the appeal.

Oh! Adding Athkatla would be simply amazing! You could recreate all the major areas in Baldur's Gate 2!

Yeah, add thugs to the cities especially for the night, houses to be robbed would be nice to see aswell. And with these, some flaming fists patrolling the city (and automatically fighting the thugs, unless corrupt), so that level one sorcerer with constitution modifier of -1 wont die whenever leaving Elfsong Tavern.
BUt as for the southern cities, we got Iron Throne, and the goody-goody-two-shoes merchants who could organise caravans between the cities.
And as for city to be added, Luskan would be pretty awesome. Well, you might think what has Baldur's Gate to do with Luskan? Well, at least starting from 1368, stone from Mirabar is brought to Gate through Luskan.
And we got undercity, under the Baldur's Gate.

Oh! Adding Athkatla would be simply amazing! You could recreate all the major areas in Baldur's Gate 2! That was one idea. The Cowled Wizards would be a really fun faction I think. ;D But as for the southern cities, we got Iron Throne, and the goody-goody-two-shoes merchants who could organise caravans between the cities. Yes, having a extra large city, especially one that is a trading city like Athkatla would be a big step in adding more content for the merchant factions. I supposed Waterdeep would work, too, but we're already headed in a southern direction and I think more people would be familiar with Athkatla because of BGII. And as for city to be added, Luskan would be pretty awesome. Well, you might think what has Baldur's Gate to do with Luskan? Well, at least starting from 1368, stone from Mirabar is brought to Gate through Luskan. The big problem with adding Luskan is that Waterdeep, then Neverwinter, would have to be added first. That's three new major cites, and while that'd be really fun to have such a large world, even I wouldn't go so far as to ask for that ..... yet. ;D

Oh, but isn't that just a problem solved by; not finding any ships taking to those towns?
I suppose you could take the Neverwinter from OC, add just create the port section of Waterdeep if you must.

I like the idea of cities, but I would think islands would be a lot easier at first, and would give us somethin to do with the boats... (besides fall off of them before the action starts, ahem)
