I would love to see what brings people here and what they hope to get out of this PW.
I've broken up the categories into "Action" for people that like a lot of combat and "Roleplaying" (R/P) for people that want to build a story behind their characters.
The top two choices (1,2) care little about the world as long as it's an interesting backdrop for testing out their character builds.
The next two choices (3,4) are for people that still like to build characters for combat, but they also like to have a story behind their characters.
The first four choices are further broken out between people that like Player vs. Player (PvP) conflict and Player vs. Environment (PvE) conflict.
The next three choices (5,6,7) are for various levels of roleplaying. For these characters, the PW is not about the combat, but more about the story behind their character. Some may have builds more oriented for combat, others more oriented for non-combat activities (such as seduction or telling stories around a fire).
The heavy roleplayer (6) wants to carry food and roleplays out mundane activities.
The Extreme roleplayer (7) is differentiated by the need to delete their character upon it's first death, if no resurrect is forthcoming.
All roleplayers tend to participate in PvP of some sort as they tend to not differentiate a player character from a non-player character.
I'd love to hear what type of player you are and why you enjoy playing here.
Thanks for playing!

I am number 5. I believe that character development is the whole point of roleplaying; however, development can happen through any number of ways. Indeed, some characters are defined by their ability to fight, but they're still a living, breathing person underneath.
I like intricate story arcs, especially those that are not subjected to black-and-white morality, or choosing the lesser of two evils (if that makes sense). I like believable and quirky characters, be they PCs or NPCs, whose motivations and dreams are believable, available to discover and. I admire a DM who can create such NPCs, and even more so those that can do so on short notice in response to a player making a strange choice.
I like to be able to make plans to deal with the events, and to be challenged in such a way that all characters' resources are tested and useful.
I like unexpected consequences for decisions players make early in an arc.
I like simply designed, but clever puzzles. The first three Monkey Island games and Grim Fandago are good examples. Old adventure games driven by moon logic (stuff a fish in your ear and use the flute to open the gate!) are not.
I like tactical combat where everyone can contribute - though I recognize that with such wide differences in both individual power and levels, it's hard to make appropriately difficult fight for all.
I like to occasionally be presented with smaller situations and events, that are short and simple - but not necessarily completely straightforward.
I don't like unnecessary minutiae to get in the way of gameplay. For instance, I like that we can set up a makeshift camp, but don't have to carry a lot of things around to do so.
I don't like to constantly be presented with situations where you can do nothing but walk into one fight after another (although this might just be a remnant from PnP where I loathe to DM dungeon crawls and the like - the one I played that Eldur set up was genuinely good fun).
I dislike arbitrarily insurmountable obstacles. A barred door can be crashed down. A warded door can have its wards dispelled. A mere lock is never too complex for an epic character with maxed Open Lock and high Dex (but Knock is a stupid spell so it's fine that locks can be picked but not Knocked). A lock combining warding, a lock and barring requires all three character types to overcome (which, by the way, is excellent design). But it's not impossible to get past. Maybe special means are required, but that is something players can know, or at the very least find out.
I also dislike PvP in game systems not built for it. This game system is one of those that aren't.
I also like to write long posts of helpful feedback whenever it's requested. ;D

I don't see the "All of the Above" option. I want a world where the NPCs and PCs alike are treated with equal hostility and understanding of skillfull calibre than a weekend casual run of World of Warcraft carebear playing styles. I want a world that the story preludes into all out war, and carried through into even greater depths. I want a world that everything has a history, a purpose, and a meaning. I want a world that the players are so intwined with the characters they create that the singlehanded permanent death that might have occured would result in real heartfelt remorse.
I want buttery popcorn.

I will do something nobody else has done in this thread yet: keep it simple. ;D
I'm a number five player.

I think RP is great, but I like a lot of action.... If I have RP with no action then I'm bored... If I have alot of action without RP... then I'm bored too... I got to have a good mix, but I would have to say I need action a little more than RP.

I love PVP. My character is what most would consider a powerbuild, but I like to have the best of both worlds, a good melee fighter and spell caster in one so that I can handle it all. I would say I'm number two, I like to pvp and beat people up but I personally wouldnt call myself a power build.

I am somewhat in between 4 and 5 EDIT: Just to explain that a bit more: If there's time to be online for a bit more than 2 hours, I don't mind a slow pace with lots of talk. If I just have an hour to play and am in the need of some more ... errr ... relaxing entertainment, I like a fast paced action environment. But all of the above with the same character.

I'm between 4 and 5, but given my slant towards in character forum posts, I voted for 5. I definitely like RP but sometimes there's nothing like casting meteor swarm down on someone (but the fact that I use it instead of a more efficient spell like Wail of Banshee pushes me back to 5 )

I liked one of the things HMV said, regarding a campaign of sorts heading into all out war. Done that on a server before, which sadly the admins let their player base slip away to near nothing...neither here nor there though. It was amazingly good fun though.

I myself like Role play oriented PvP so i can find satisfaction in both sides of what a true world should offer.
I would also love to se an open ended conflict in a world with separated cultures going against each other, where a player makes a choice in which side/culture their allegiance stands.
Then it would be great to see them adept and create a way of survival in this Harsh world where nobody really can be sure to trust other factions.
Because the enemy can be right BEHIND YOU!! *PvP death cries*
Im between Vote 4-5 but i choose 4

I voted Action-PVE, but to be fair I'm not a player in this world It' not necessarily to crush NPCs and it's not always a powerbuild, sometimes it's just a theme/interesting build, but it's the character building/leveling that I enjoy.

For me it's the character building relationships, not so muh the character themselves. I do like a good mix of action/rp, though I lean more to the rp side of things. All action without rp is bland to me, but action ties in with knowing how a person handles themselves, and getting to know them better. Anyhow I chose 5.

I'm always for my characters personality and relationship building but I rely a lot on my ability to solo grind xp when I'm not in a talkative mood.
