This was a new player, and after explaining the rules (this one falls loosely under "no titles" in rule 5) the player was more than happy to change the name.
We also have players with famous names as well. We'll try to get it all sorted out.
Thanks

When I made her, I made sure to check with a DM upon loggin in. I was told it wasnt a famous name or nobility or what have you so it would be ok. Now, I've RP'd The Imp and explained the nickname IC several times at least and put a months time or so (hard to tell when its every day, lol)....but I agree, some of the names seem to be headed toward overly general. I just really dont want to change the name of a character that has grown on me and is now my primary character.

Your character's name hasnt set precedent mate. We had even a Froddo Baggins here before. I saw a few days ago someone named Elendil or Elessar Mithrandir. Lets hope hes not here looking for his brother Rohan Gondor, from Rivendell. The Imp is not a bad name for me, because it isnt a name. Its a nickname. But if Elessar/Elendil Mithrandir is a nickname, i dont want to hear the real name though. Could it be Balrog of Morgoth? Then i would have to use my Flame of Arnor against his Flame of Udun. We all know Ujio is a servant of the Secret Fire. Dark Fire will not avail you, bad namer that dont know the rules! ;D
Edit: Master's typo correction.

Sorry to have to call you out, Zealot, but said name from lord of the rings was a random generation by a "lotr name translator" that the player liked the sound of, rather than an intentional choice of a notable name .

Well, i wasnt speaking about intentions, since I cant read minds. I was speaking about the name for itself. Maybe I could use that program to come up with Aragorn Baggins or something. Its not exactly a famous name right? And I love it. I mean, he wont be the son of Arathorn, so I guess its ok. ;D
PS: I didnt make the rules, im just talking about them.

Terence Trent Darby.... I agree I laughed at that one. I wonder if the player even knew about the 'musician'?
EvilGod was the one I saw that felt like the straw on the camel's back.

Anyone want to start a betting pool on what name will pop up next? I'd bet on Harry Potter.

My favorite from LOTRO was an elf archer with this name: Leggo M'Eggolas For those not a part of American televion culture, we have a brand of waffles called Eggo's, and the catch pharse is "Leggo my eggo's".
