Hey folks, I'm new around here (obviously), and new in general to NWN2 MP. I know that NWN2 should save logs in Neverwinter Nights 2/logs but after I finished playing, I logged out and there was nothing there...I remember in NWN I think there was some sort of .ini setting or command line that you had to put in that would tell it to save chat logs...does anybody know how to do that? I've done some digging around on the Vault but I can't find anything about it, and I like to save logs to help me keep track of what's going on with my character.

Yeah I thought of doing this too.. I play a few characters and i think if i re-read each characters files every so often it would help keep them all separate in my head.

Yeah, I like to keep journals of my character and I do that based off of chat logs, it helps me to further get IC. So does anybody know how to do this? I've tried searching through the official forums and found nothing there either.

It would definitely be better than going by memory. Until you find out how, you could use screen shots as a substitute.

Yes you can. Set following line in the nwnplayer.ini:
[Game Options] ClientChatLogging=1
Then the logs are saved to the \Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Temp\NWN2\LOGS\ directory with name nwclientLog1.txt.
Just make sure you do all this in \Documents and Settings\<username> NWN2 directory, not in the install directory which also has these files but they're overriden.

Oh, and remember the file will be overwritten every time you open the client. Rename it to something different than nwclientLog1.txt if you want to keep it!

Thanks! There's no Game Options section in my nwn2player.ini, so I just added it in in the bottom, that should work, right?

The file is nwnplayer.ini and definitely should have that section at the top!

Okay, I added the ClientChatLogging=1 command to my nwn2player.ini under game options. I tried both putting it at the beginning and at the end of the game options section in the .ini file, but the game does not want to save my chat logs. Log files are saved to My Documents/Neverwinter Nights 2/logs, right?

Check again where I wrote the file name, twice. It's not nwn2player.ini

Okay, did a bit of digging and discovered the problem. It was being saved under <New User> rather than <Jonathan> for some reason it saves all that stuff under the New User directory (even though there's one account on my computer and I'm logged in as the administrator. I was just looking under the wrong directory. A search of my hard drive found it. Also, I was correct in that it indeed was the nwn2player.ini that you had to put that line in, under Game Options. Putting that line in nwnplayer.ini will save a log file, but there will be no player chat in it, just server information. Putting that line under game options in nwn2player.ini will save the client chat file and there will be player chat in it. Also, found a newer version of the log renamer which supports both Neverwinter Nights and Neverwinter Nights 2 nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=NWN2Other.Detail&id=184Anyway, thanks for the help!
