Ok, you have created your PC and are ready to rock and roll. Where do you begin? Well, in the region of The Sword Coast in the port city of Baldur’s Gate , you begin your journey in the Docks District. Here you will find the following areas -
Docks District
*East Gate Exit to the Farmlands
*The Bulletin Board (Full of notices and Jobs, items for sell and a call to a Cult?)
*Maltz Weapon Shop (Item Appearance Changer)
*Aello’s Discount Clothing
*Sorcerous Sundries
*The Elfsong Tavern
*The Blade and Stars
*The Merchant League
*Torregeir Mining Co.
*Temple of Torm
*Temple of Tempus
*Temple of Tyr
*Shrine of Mask
*Shrine of Ilmater
*The Church of Mystra
*The Istari Tower (Home of the Weave Masters Magick Guild)

Now, should you decide to journey around the city then you will find the following locations…..

*First Bank of Baldur’s Gate
*Shelf of Many Books
*Hall of High Wonders
*Flaming Fist Castle
*Razimuth’s Tower
*Ragefest’s Tower
*The Helm and Cloak
*Temple of Helm
*Temple of Tymora
*Temple of Gond
West Harbor District
*Balduran Ship Co.

Maltz weapon shop is always a good place to begin for your basic equipment such as arms and armor as well as how they appear. The Sorcerous Sundries have more specialty items for you casters and Aello’s Discount Clothing? Well, you never know what you may find on sale there. Should you decide to have a look around the city, then, you will find there are some who need aid with a simple task or simple delivery and even a not so simple mission and perhaps even more….Speak to all you see and maybe you will meet someone with such a task. You could just find that your purse is more full than it was when first you arrived……Perhaps here is where a word about theft, murder and other ’roguish’ or evil acts should probably go. The Guards in red armor you see posted up around the city are known as the Flaming Fist and their tolerance for such actions is very low. You have been warned……

Adventuring
Ok, you have your gear, you have seen the sites of the city and are ready to get out and adventure the lands South of Baldur’s Gate! Well, here is a word to the wise. Be wary when traveling alone adventurer, for, many a brave soul has done just that and paid the heavy price. Just South of the Gate you will find old Farmer Jorn and his farmland. If you speak with him you may find that he needs a bit of help with a local problem. South along the Coastway from his farmland, one will find that they enter into the more wild areas of the region. Dangerous ruins and mysterious caves with wolves roaming all around. Just remember, safety in numbers…..
Still, for those adventuring souls who wish to go further, then, even further South along this road you will find a wicked and foul place where the Gnolls rule and a Temple has been raised to an evil God whose name is Bhaal . Rumor has it that, a call to adventurers has been sent to aid in the cleansing of this foul place…From here, you can find your way to the Cloakwood Forest and The Wood of Sharp Teeth . I do not think any word of caution is needed for this region…..it should be with common sense one would avoid this area until one is well armed and versed on the region….
Continuing South along the road is known as the Lion’s Way, where the Ogres roam, but, not unchecked by the local Guard and adventurers. Here is where you can find your way to Candlekeep. Candlekeep is home to many Monks and Scholars and entry into the Keep is free, but entry into their beloved Library is…nearly impossible, but, can be done when the right price is paid…..The Keep is guarded by the Candlekeep Guard and I would be willing to bet, that, you would not want to fight one of those ‘peaceful’ Monks. There are some here who might need a task done as well, so, speak to all you see and you might find yourself in the middle of another adventure and a full purse! Candlekeep has some basic services such as -
Candlekeep
*Phlydia’s Magick Shop
*Candlekeep Inn
*Candlekeep Barracks
*An Infirmary
*A Tanner
*The Library of Candlekeep
*Temple of Oghma
*Shrine of Azuth
*Various Street / Traveling Merchants
Now, continuing further South along the road is where the Goblins roam. Powerful Goblins wielding magicks, swords and even some with a nasty little surprise waiting for the unsuspecting soul. In this region you will see that there are some Unearthed Ruins in the cliff side, or, is it an old mine? Hmm, perhaps one should go and take a look when one can. You never know what you may find in that place…..Either way, this road eventually leads to the town of Beregost. That poor town has been the site of a massive siege of armored Giants and Goblins along with the bloody raids of many other beasts of the region. The poor people of this town do all they can to rebuild after such, so, speak with all you see. Perhaps you might be able to aid someone there while visiting. Either way, once in Beregost you will find the following locations to be visited -
Beregost
*Travenhurst Manor
*The Burning Wizard
*The Jovial Juggler
*Feldpost’s Inn
*Red Sheaf Inn
*’Thunderhammer’ Smithy
*Temple of Lathander (Song of the Morning Temple)
*Various Street Merchants and a band of Gypsies
All along the way you will find that the lands are splattered with Shrines to various Gods/Goddess’ like - Chauntea, Silvanus, Malar, Mielikki and perhaps even more are yet to be discovered! The road is a dangerous place to travel along and raiding parties of Orc, Giant, Gnoll and so on might just jump out and waylay the inattentive traveler…
