Has anyone else noticed this? It seems in the last two weeks lag has dropped substantially. Even the other night with 29 people on the server was running great and had a ping of 72.
Thats pretty freaking awesome. Especially considering both Otomo and myself have quite a few more angles of lag reduction we are going to work.
For example, removing unnecessary trees, taking the Minotaur horn hunting quest underground to an interior area, redoing the grass in a few areas to make it more processor friendly etc. We are also going to reduce the amount of above ground mob spawns. This will help the processor greatly as we won't have as many roaming npc monsters.
Things are looking good and should get much better. It is our goal to be far and away the biggest PW with as many players online as possible.

Just a minor thought.... Please dont remove too many trees....they are so cool. Specially in the Cloakwood. Makes you feel so lost....kinda ranger/druid kind of place (Yeah...its a wood area but ignore that)
Also....you're right! Almost no lag. At least when i was IG. ;D

For example, removing unnecessary trees, Awesome, I've always been a bit afraid to mention this, but I feel there are a few areas with tree-overkill. It's good to have nice looking areas, but camera angels should also be taken into consideration. There are areas where it doesnt look good, it looks horrible because you are looking into or through a tree no matter wich angle you pick. making coordination quite hard, and also low end machines gets lots and lots og graphic lag. So big thumbs up on that idea

I did not notice any server lag ever since I started here again. The only issues are the areas which hurt my machine, especially the Cloakwood/Minotaurs area. Other than that, I´m experiencing no problems whatsoever.

Been seeing improvement as well.... up until I spawn 20-50 lvl 1 kobolds within the span of a few seconds to attack groups of adventurers. LOL

What caused the lag was when I cast Call Lightning and it zapped forty of those at once. ;D Other than that, though, the server has been running smoothly for me.

I've been playing for a few months on the server now and I must say the lag has been dramaticly reduced from what it once was. Even when theres a Dm running an event the lag is minimal. i did notice something odd the other day though, i was hunting bugbears and there seemed to be quit a bit of lag, the really odd part was that no DM's were on and there were only five of us online at the time. It only happened that one time and hasnt happend again. this was last week it did this. but never the less I still continue to here newbies rave about how good things are on the server and how little lag there is. So my compiments to all that are involved in making this server possible.

Heh, as anyone can tell you alot of my events have special effects and lots of explosions and action and detailed set ups, which used to create alot of lag, and aye often brought the server to its knees.
Now the server doesnt even flinch at my epicly colossial events.

What does that do Driller? From my best guess, i think it will "cut" the faded objects, rather than just fade them at maximum size. If i am right in this assumption, you are my new archangel Driller thanks for the pointer !

Yes, it fades them out almost completely. You can experiment with the settings to get it the way you want it.

The Fade option Driller propsed is working like a charm, and really helps my machine perform a hellalot better in most, if not all areas. AND it gives a much better view on the surroundings.
