Hey all,
I have no real intent to bring undue attention to myself, but I'm newest kid on the DM block. I'm still learning the DM Client for one so please be patient. The reason I'm starting this thread up is because I want to let you guys know my DM philosophy and intent. I'll make this concise:
DM Intent
My main intent is to help build up the community.
1) As will be mentioned below, I'll give XP to encourage skills and role playing.
2) I'm also planning to help build up other guilds. It may not be to the same extent as the Weave Masters, but I already have a few plans in mind.
DM philosophy
1) I don't play favorites --- which basically means that I won't be doing any Weave Master events (for those that don't know, I'm the WM guild master). Three reasons: (1) I still like being a player and will be playing Nahum so I don't want to know what's coming next. (2) I want to spread the love around (as noted under intent) (3) There's enough DM's around where the WM's get a lot of action from.
2) I do give extra XP for good and consistent role-playing. I plan on playing the "Secret Shopper" and just give XP for those who RP well and can do it without OOC chatter in game. I'll also give XP for good forum RolePlaying posts.
3) You may not get all your XP back from my events. I have a percentage number in my head in terms of how much. If I go overboard (e.g. I spawn a red dragon on a lvl 1 PC), I'll do so but epic level PC's need to be aware. There aren't much that you theoretically can't handle Sometimes it's better to just walk away from a fight (and I'll give XP for that too). It also means that you'd better heal each other and not rely on a free Resurrection (Note: I will give XP back though for player induced resurrections)
4) I give XP for successful skill checks (e.g. disarming of traps). It won't be a lot but I'll make it a point to do so. This is to reward those that actually make well-rounded PC's.
Final Notes:
1) As mentioned, I'm new with the client so don't expect too much out of me at the get go.
2) One request is that you don't hit me up with DM issues when I'm a player. I enjoy playing too and would prefer to keep them separate.
3) Hope I turn out to be a good DM here!
