Like in RL, mistakes and misunderstandings can happen IG. We have only a few rules dictating RP and thats why the server is so good and famous. But we need, imo, a thread (locked) that states the policy on some aspects and variations of RPG.
For instance, you can RP or dont RP. But while IG, most people will RP, and if you dont want to RP, that doesnt stop others from trying to RP with you. That can lead to some mistakes IG and IC.
For instance a drow character wandering in the streets of BG showing his face. While the drow as a player can chose not to RP and just do as he please, others might want to RP and do what RP tells them to do. Run or kill the drow (Examples, simple examples). So if the player dont want to RP, he shouldnt be angry if others do when he choses a highly dangerous race. Gladly, in our PW, makes no difference if you die to PvP, because you will get up with no consequences in 60 seconds. So if you dont want to RP, makes no difference to you if you will be knocked out for 60 seconds or not. But will make a big difference for the other guy that wants to RP. At most, will slow you down on your grinding for 60 seconds. And thats it. If you're not a RP player, the supposed death, will make no difference in your character history, since you dont care for RP. So just calm down, get up, explain to the attacker that you dont want to RP, all you want is to go and kill some more mobs and have fun. End of story.
Same thing can happen if you're playing a thief and like to steal things. Some guys can be pretty pissed when they lose items or gold. OOC and IC. But it is part of your RP to steal. So how to deal with it? The main complaint, from both sides is that no consequences are at hand, both for the thief if caught and for the victim if killed. Well, for the victim, if killed, is the loss of items or gold...but for the thief caught? Something like this can grow to a major frustration and even anger towards the player that likes to steal with his thief. That in the end will lead to a big consequence and possibly some grudge.
We have good rules, but i think we need some clear explanation, in one single thread, on our policy on evil races/classes/RP.
For example, a post where everybody can read that in here, we have no restrictions of races. You can play a drow for example, but you will be hunted down like a evil criminal and a threat if you show yourself. Or, if you play a thief, you will be in danger of losing gold and items if you get arrested and steal too much. These are just examples, but to post them, as you guys see fit, just to let people see them BEFORE the damage is done, can help to prevent a great deal of misunderstandings, anger and flame posts.
Thanks

PS: These examples of policy and RP are well known by our veterans, but not by the new guys. They are now spread over the forum in different posts, and most of them are just explanations that happened after a incident. So a single thread would help to get them all together so all can read and be aware. Preventing the DMs to say them over and over again.
