A large and disgruntled frost giant approached adventurers upon the Tradeway after laying waste to host of goblins along the southern reaches of the road.
Apparently,he was in search of a ring , which he claimed was stolen by goblins.Desperately, he asked the adventurers to search a cave,a cave he saw three frantic goblins fleeing towards in hope of escaping the furious giant's wrath. The cave opening was too small for his enormous size,so he figured he would seek out others to retrieve the ring.
The adventurers accepted the task with promises of reward from the burly giant. But he warned them,if they didnt return his ring, he would wreak havoc upon everything in his path until it was back in his possession.
Shortly after sunset that same day,the adventurers set out on their journey south to the cave the giant mentioned.Along the way they met large forces of resistance, determined to keep the adventurers from the ring.Who would employ such beasts to cooperate together as one , over a ring? Nobody knew, soon their questions would be answered.
After many skirmishes with forces of trolls, ogres, goblins and large spiders, they finally reached the cave in question. The group entered , just to be ambushed by the undead. They fought valiantly and in the end, they crushed the undead foes with sheer precision. The group traveled deeper into the ruins of the cave, just to be met with more undead forces, there was even vampires amongst their ranks. The deeper they went, the stronger their foes.Things were starting to look grim, grim indeed.
Reaching one of the large rooms within the ruins, the group discovered the bodies of the three goblins the giant spoke of.By the look frozen on the faces of the corpses, they had died a horrible death,as if their souls were stripped away from their bodies. But no ring was found...Something more sinister was at work here and many questioned if this ring should was even worth retrieving or even given back to the giant.Surely the ring must be powerful,to throw hordes of monsters and undead in their path to keep them from it.
They continued forward, determined to get to the bottom of the mystery behind the ring. They met more undead , with powerful vampires within their ranks, but the brave adventurers pulled through and finally made their way to the end of the line.
What waited ahead, was a vampire lord, once a lord of the Illifarn. He had the ring and every creature the group overcame was under his power. They questioned him and asked of him what they could do to have the ring. The lord played along with them, finding it all to be amusing. He demanded one thing in trade for the ring , he wanted blood, elven blood.Reluctantly,no one in the group was willing to hand over one of their elven comrades to the vile lord, which incited hostility and the lord attacked with the help of his minions. The battle raged on within the room and in the end the vampire lord and his minions lay scattered in ash upon the dusty floor.
The ring was now theirs,a ring a vampire lord deemed powerful enough to send hordes to keep any from claiming it.But upon studying the ring,it just seemed to be a mundane piece of jewelry.Little did they know,it wasnt.Powerful magic lay locked within it and cloaked to even the most powerful of the arcane. Some wished to return it to the giant for their rewards, but two others wished to keep it from him. They believed there was more to the ring than meets the eye and why should they return a possible powerful item to a frost giant? So the two left the main group, bound for the Temple of Mystra for answers.
Meanwhile, the others in the group traveled south of Beregost to meet with the giant in hopes of stalling him or negotiating new terms. The disgruntled giant was none too happy with the turn of events and threatened to kill all that betrayed him.Thinking about it,he realized that killing them would not get his ring back,so he explained its importance and why he desperately needed it back in his hands. He told the group of how it was an heirloom passed down through generations and he wished to give it to his daughter on the day of her birth. Also,he told them that he could not go back without it or the clan will be furious. So,he gave the group one last chance to get it back from the two that stole off with it to gods know wheres.
Justin Crownsilver, the one in possession of the ring, waited within the Temple of Mystra, with another of the adventurers to be seen. After awhile in waiting,a cleric approached them and asked if he could assist them with anything. They told him their story and gave the ring to the cleric for examination. After thorough examination of the ring, still it remained as a mundane ring of no power worth mentioning. This didnt sit well with Justin and he still believed there was more to the ring, especially if a vampire lord was willing to go through all that trouble to keep it from them. So,the cleric offered to keep the ring safe within the temple and would make inquiries with the legendary Elminster in hopes of discovering more about the ring in question. In return he would give Justin an exact double of the ring, which held no power whatsoever,in hopes of appeasing the enraged giant. The cleric believed that if the ring indeed held powers to the unseen eye that the giant was unaware as well,so a double was provided.
The two left the temple and headed south to meet with the others and the frost giant. The giant was still there, including the others which were apart of the search party earlier that day. After promising to return to the Cloud Peaks and giving the rewards, the giant happily took the ring's double without noticing anything different and returned home with confidence restored.
Only two within the party know of the original ring and where it now resides.Still the mystery of the ring lies undiscovered. Will any be able to determine if it is indeed a powerful artifact?
2500 XP and 2500 gold rewarded to those that stayed from beginning to end of the event.Late joiners 1500.And 500 extra for exceptional RP.iT WAS A VERY LONG EVENT.

It was a lot of fun, but I don't think a lot of people were thrilled with Justin and I when we decided to take the ring to the Temple of Mystra. I still think we did the right thing It's too bad the server *burped* after the big fight, but a lot of people were still there at the end. Thanks for the fun and great roleplaying. Jhaelen Windsong

It was a lot of fun, but I don't think a lot of people were thrilled with Justin and I when we decided to take the ring to the Temple of Mystra. Nobody was happy (IC, that is). You're right about that. But that's the fun of RP. Always expect the worst.

This was all written by Nahum,I thought it was perfect,so I posted it here.
Traveling through Beregrost with a recently met companion named Lana, a woman chased Nahum down crying for help. She spoke of her husband missing for two days when he traveled south of the town. Without giving much thought to the possible dangers that he knew lay just south of the town, Nahum made haste after gathering the necessary information to track down the missing man.
The fiendish spiders and wyverns that met them in their search were of no match to the comfortable ease the Weave flowed through the Exarch's body. When they encountered hags and cannibals down in the canyon, the pair began to worry over the man's fate. They wondered if their search would be in vain but they stayed the course. At the very least, the woman needed to know what truly happened to her husband.
Finding signs of recent human travel, the pair continued on. Random encounters of huge earth and fire elementals blocked their path but Lana's sword and Nahum's magic paved the way clear. When a fell troll ran down from the ruins, it was met with Bigby's magics which seemed to disrupt its killing blows. This allowed the two to easily dodge the raking claws that were capable of rending a man in two. Soon enough however, it too fell before them. The balls of flame and streams of fire that leapt from the Weave Master's hands burned deep into the fell troll and prevented it from healing from its mortal wounds.
As Lana and Nahum trekked their way up the hill and approached the ruins, they began to fear if they would see any sign of this man at all. As they approached the ruins cautiously, they saw a human figure by the crumbled pillars. The quick ray of hope was met with disappointment however at the realization that it was a woman that stood before them. This disappointment was quickly replaced with confusion and then a sense of uneasiness as they found the wife of the husband they were seeking at their journey's end.
"What are you doing here? And how?" asked Nahum, growing uneasily suspicious. "Why did you bring us here?" realizing that this a trap of sorts. Of what magnitude he did not know but would soon find out. "I seek no husband as you have realized. It is YOU that I want, Nahum, Exarch of the Weave Masters! You and your guild will not continue on!" Being called by name and title, Nahum began to realize that this was no mere trap for naive adventurers. Whoever this was, she sought him out specifically and ensured that he was alone save for Lana beside him. It was ensured that no fellow Weave Masters were around and no Guardians by his side to defend the Exarch.
And then the woman's guise began to melt away. She crumpled to her knees and large black wings began to sprout from her back. The hands that clutched the dirt grew in size and sharp claws dug into the ground. Gleaming black scales began to cover her body which also began to grow to immense size. He face shot upwards towards Nahum and red glowing eyes pierced at him. Her neck lengthened, her mouth grew forward, her teeth became sharp fangs, and horns began to protrude. Nahum and Lana took a few steps backwards to realize that they were in the presence of a black dragon!!
Casting Stoneskin on itself, the dragon charged. It was met with a large magical hand that swayed and annoyed the beast, preventing it from sinking its maw unto the two. In its fury, the dragon flailed its claws and tail. Lana was blind-sided and the blow from its tail threw her against the ruin pillars and she collapsed unconscious. Now alone, the Weave Master summoned a large magical sword that jumped to life and began to swing at the large beast. The animated blade swung true and it swung strong but it had no real effect against the Stoneskin that protected the magical reptile. It did however do what it was summoned to do. It kept the black beast occupied as the blade swung whenever the dragon tried to attack Nahum.
With the dragon distracted, every spell in the Exarch's arsenal was cast. The Weave must have trembled as fiery blasts, ice storms, magical fists, lightning, and hundreds of magical missiles flew towards the large creature. Beads of sweat raced down Nahum's face and his muscles tensed at the wielding of so much energy. The grimace of a man fighting for his life and for the guild he established shot forth as his voice uttered the incantations that called forth the power of the Weave to descend upon the black dragon. Blast upon blast shook the dragon's flesh but it kept on attacking. Nahum feared that he could not keep on going at such a pace but he had no choice. He had to expend everything that he had. It seemed like hours, but the Weave finally began to overcome the ravenous creature as it did Nahum's body. Its eyes began to glaze over and its legs began to buckle. As if in slow motion, the now-charred black dragon began to collapse. With a large thud and a billow of dust, the dragon was no more.
Despite his victory, the Weave Master collapsed to his knees. To his relief, Lana was alive still and thanked ilmater that her unconsciousness actually saved her from the beast. He was drained however and he could not summon any more strength. If a foe would have come upon him, it would have spelled death to the dragon killer. Someone did approach, but Ilmater's grace fell upon Nahum and it was only a man named Hurst that found them before the felled black dragon. Offering his help to the two, Nahum accepted. He tasked the man to fetch a large cart from Beregrost and any help that he needed. He was to chop off the dragon's head and delivered it to the Weave Master tower. It was to become a symbol, not as example of the Exarch's power, but as a reminder to those that would seek to destroy the Weave Masters. It was a symbol that the responsible use of the Weave could achieve victory amidst overwhelming odds and its use is for the benefit of those around them. Nahum has triumphed as will the Weave Masters! 1500 xp awarded ring of clear thought and wizards cloak as well Nahum and Lana participated in the event.

Deep in the Cloakwood,a celestial blooded man and an elven woman battled against raging treants. The savage treants were none too happy to have these two gallivanting about in their territory,so they thought to throw themselves at them with brutal force.
Unfortunately, the treants were no match for the man and woman. The elf striked with flame and electricity upon her weapon and the celestial man's greatsword cut with keen efficiency, pushing the trees back, they coiled in defeat.
In a desperate attempt to thwart the two warriors, the treants called upon other forces of nature to aid them in their struggle,to help balance things out.
Enormous earth, water, and wind elemental answered the call,as well as large insects and spiders.Still, this wasnt enough to quell the two warriors. The forest grew angry...and nature summoned a mighty elder earth elemental.
The large piece of living earth blocked passage leading out of the woods, determined to keep the two within. The elder presented the two with 4 riddles,if answered correctly in concession they would be allowed to leave the Wood.
First of four riddles the Elder bellowed out," I am the land, dirt, and mountains.Who am I?"The look on the man and woman's face was one of confusion at the riddle.Through thought, the woman answered," Grumbar."The elder bellowed once again,"Correct elf,now your second riddle.I am the wind and the air all around you.Who am I?"Quickly, the elf answered once again," Akadi."The elder looked down from high above,"Correct again elf.Now for your third riddle.I am the essence which gives life and courses through your bodies, the seas, lakes and oceans.Who am I?"
Now the next moments seem to take longer than before.Obvious the man was becoming impatient and had no clue of what the answer might be to this next riddle. The woman too, could not remember the third elemental deity's name. They knew if they answered wrong, the elder would attack and attempt to end their lives.Frustrated and without answer, they both attacked the enormous elder, upon doing so appearance of three other elder elementals arrived, fire, water, and air.
The air and water elders attempted to aid the mighty earth in the struggle against the two mortals, but being as fickle as Kossuth's servants are known to be,the elder fire turned against the elder earth slaying it in a blaze of fire.
Shortly, after the two adventurers picked apart the remaining elders one by one, claiming their victory and passage out of the deep Cloakwood.
Upon the large elder earth many gems of low value were discovered. x6 alexandrite x6amethyst x6 phenelope 1500xp awarded to Hammanor and Rhyma
