Hello friends. I just want to say a few words to all those who want to join some order or guild. First of all, its free...lol. Second, we have allot of players and few DMs, so may take a while to get you to the order you want. But keep in mind that during your time waiting, you should RP as an aspirant, a man/woman who wish to be part of that order. Therefore, you must respect the principles of that order to be accepted. So go ahead and RP and interact with other characters, demonstrating you desire and respect for your god/goddess's order, or guild. Here there will be no forced RP, but if you want to be a part of an order or guild, you should try to RP and make an extra effort to get in by merit. Because the orders are a plus, a bonus that we can offer, besides xp, to those who want to take their rp to the next lvl. You wont need to be a part of any order to be a cleric or a paladin. As you dont need to be a member of the Flaming Fist to defend the city of Baldur's Gate. So to become a member is a reward for those who try harder and are patient, while we DMs RP as a High Priest/Duke and watch you do it. Like in RL, to be a part of some order or guild, you need to be watched and tested before entering and be accepted.
Thank you for your time and comprehention - Zeal

Can someone be a member of two guilds, or is there a limit to one?

There is a limit of one guild per player. It doesn't mean that you can't be a friend to or employed by another guild though. It basically means that you don't get all the perks of a guild member but can be involved in their events. There are few special cases (e.g. a secret guild perhaps, but you'd have to be a good role-player for that) Also, there's a difference between being part of a church and a guild. Your different PC's can be part of multiple churches.

Can that rule be clarified? I sent you a PM on it, but perhaps it would be easier here. I was told by another DM that it was one per Player, not one per Character.
It is my opinion that one per Player would greatly hinder recruitment into other guilds, especially considering a lot of us play with multiple characters.
I can see the WM taking a hit especially with resignations once a few of the other guilds get on their feet.
Aside from that, it would just encourage people to set up multiple logins to get around such a rule. I know of at least one person who has several logins already.

With the player base on this server and the number of guilds. I would think it is one guild per char. You just have to be watchful of somone metagameing information between chars.

I was thinking about it, and there are already a few Players with different characters in different guilds, I am fairly certain that is how its always been interpreted.
For the most part I'd say that those involved in the guilds are good enough RPers to keep OOC and IC info separate. The only 'metagaming' I've seen thus far is the use of names not given to a character, and that is an easily made, and entirely unrelated, mistake that is usually fixed with a quick apology and continued RP.

Let us get back to you on this. The latest post I saw in the DM area says one guild per player. I'm only iterating what I figured was an established rule.

A single player can currently join more than one guild per PC. The sudden interest in highly secretive guilds however might change a few things. I recommend only joining one secret guild (Harpers, Zhents, etc.) per player.

That's fine. Neither of those are secret guilds. I could list the ones that are: The Evil Churches, the Zhents, the Harpers, the Shadow Thieves (will take over for the thieves guild which no longer exists), and then there are some player-run ones like the Shadow Cabal and the Masked Lord's Children which are restrictive.
