The Thieves Guild (((VERY rough draft. seeking feedback))) (updates in green)
Culture: 1) There are three main categories of Thieves in the guild: "Thugs", "Rogues", and "Assassins". 2) Thugs are the strong arm of the guild. They worry less about subtlety and rely on brute strength to enforce their criminal ways. 3) Rogues are the sneaks. They rely on subtlety to accomplish their deeds. 4) Assassins are the hired killers. They rely on subtlety and surprise to overwhelm their targets. 5) Backstabbing is as prevalent in the organization as anything else. 6) Obedience to a higher ranking member is generally followed --- especially during a mission. Backstabbing fellow guild members rarely occurs during a mission and is frowned upon when it happens. 7) 10% of all work "proceeds" are given to the guildmaster. In return, guild members enjoy the benefit of getting contracted work and protection from the guild. All non-guild thugs/thieves/assassins "working" in Baldur's Gate are "asked" to join or risk the the undue attention of the guild.

I know the DMs are really busy, so if you create a rogue and want to get them involved.. PM one of the DMs.. but also give me a PM here and maybe we can at least involve you in some way with guild activities until an official intitiation is done.

Hi I'm new to the server, and Ive interested in joining the thieves guild. On another server I've been leveling a great combo build right now, Nyte Kraller is: Rog 5 Wiz 5 Assassin 6(cant abbrev it, lol) Inv Blade 5 And it's great! And the way I level it complies with BG rules and I don't suffer any exp penalties and get to use some of the best feats at lower levels. It's a basic assassin build with heavy stealth built in, sort of pvp build. My resume: I've been playing RPG since Dungeons of Daggorath on the TRS=80 and atari's adventure. I've been part of many large guilds and very focused on the "team player" idea, I like helping people out, it's part of my pay-it-forward outlook online. My past MMO's WoW, FFXI, Atlantica Online, Anarchy Online, Hellgate and I'm currently active on Runes of Magic, but I'm winding down on that game. I prefer the racial differences on NWN1 and 2. On runes, your either human, human or human..boorrrrrinnggggg I pretty versitile, I can RP with the best of them and my PC has a backstory. I can also grind and pvp with the best of them too. Loot, I know it;s important for character development, but not to the extent of seeing someone else suffer. In short, Im not a lootWh--e, Ill pass something that I know that someone else can use since it helps build the strength of the guild overall, not just buff one person. Well, thats all I can think of for now. If you have any questions you can reach me; I should be online this weekend under Nyte Kraller. I hope that name is permitted if not, you can find me under inktomi2 at login. Thanks for considering me and see you ingame! XD NyteKraller

Alright guys it seems there is a massive spike in interest for this guild. Within the week I have recieved at least 4 or 5 people's PM's to join this guild. Since I havent been in game for about a week or so (due to RL busy stuff) I am going to ask (for your sake) to get in touch with the guilds generals, also known as the original guild members...
-Broham1 -Broham2 -Grcrush -GhostlyRose (Though due to RP, she may be compromised)
There are other vets in the guild and if I missed you I am sorry, but the above have done recruiting before for the guild. What they and I will need from the interested party is this:
-IC Name (To see if your on our bad list, or to do some recon work) -Levels -Class Spread -YOU MUST BE EVIL-ish (NO Good guys at all on this one)
Also know that we still do not have DM support (as far as I know) So there may not be anything for anyone to do at the moment. Because of such, most of our guild has "scattered" and they have become harder to find but they still linger in the shadows.
So with that being said, feel free to contact anyone of us and we will pass a vote on you. HOWEVER there are still guidelines for this guild..
-Play a smart evil, we wont save your ass if your thinking your staring in The Shining.
-RP, We are a very structured and organized guild, and burried in secrecy
-Dont Power Level Please.. Getting to 20 really quickly doesnt do much for you
-No Names.. The only one who has the names is Me, recored in a book, and I still dont use them. This one is for everyones protection.. If you want, create a call sign.
Once your in the guild, Im sure anyone of us can give you some tips for becoming the scourge of the server... but untill then, good luck!
-Ice

I've been trying to get in touch with this guild IC for a few days now; no luck so far. I'm only level three, so I'm not in a hurry. Anyway, glad to hear it's still going.

*prods the husk* Eww, corpse juices! *ahem* What I really wanted to say is that if anyone in the Thieves' Guild want to do something that requires DM help, feel free to ask me. I'm having creativity issues right now anyway, so some player-initiated stuff would do me good. Just don't expect to get to murder people in their houses or do burglaries just yet, simply because there are no good houses I can use, but I can think of a few things to do regardless!

Thats just the ewwy gooey remnants of the dead ones Sirc's troop left behind. In no way are we responsible for them and Miss Ducet can clean up the bodies. As for the rest of us you cant catch a shadow if it isnt lingering in one spot anymore from Toybox We still have eyes and ears on the rest of you folks. and miss Ducet dont forget your tenant rent is due at the first of each month

After having seen these guys in action and their scheming and being mighty impressed, I'm going to go ahead and say that anyone who wants to contract the Thieves' Guild for illegal activities - smuggling, assassination, theft or kidnapping being examples - can now send an IC letter to me here on the forum as a DM contact. The fee will depend on what you want done. Thefts, smuggling and kidnapping is based on the difficulty of the mark, while assassination is usually based on what you're willing to pay. You submit your target and what you're willing to pay, and the guild will take it up if any of their members feel the reward is worth the risk. Assassinations I will usually help handle as a DM, due to the very lenient PvP "death" rules we use. Of course, you better ensure that your character has a good reason for knowing of the way of contacting them. Any random goodie-two-shoes wouldn't be able to do so.

Just an update from me and my bro (Broham1 and Broham2): we will no longer be doing initiations/recruiting for the thief’s guild. Our characters (IC) are both laying low for a while and do not wish to be associated with strangers given recent events. The way they see it, there is no reason to allow more leaks (or potential leaks) into their circle of influence. We may log in from time to time to do some RP between us (and other contacts) but IC we aren’t recruiting or actively attending the guild hall.
That said, IC anyone currently in the guild would only know that they have been missing in action for a while, unless we’ve spoken to you to tell you what is going on (and some of you we have). If you aren’t already in the guild you would have no clue that any of our characters were ever associated with the guild in the first place.
Mithari, are you still going to DM this group? If so I would suggest that potential recruits contact you to work things out.. I know I get 3-4 tells every time I log in (though no PMs with the required information) from people who want to get in, but it just doesn’t fit IC anymore. There is obviously enough interest out there to get things moving though.
Ice, Crush, and Ghostly.. feel free to say whether or not you want to continue acting as recruiters or do initiations.
In the meantime, my suggestion to potential recruits is to build your own ‘cells’ of power.. because even when you are in the guild its not like anyone tells you who the other members are or anything… you need your own ‘crew’ so to speak to get jobs done. And read Ice’s suggestions below. Smart Evil being key. I won’t be involved much if at all with the guild but I would hate to see it turned into a sideshow.
Oh, and NO PICKPOCKETING RIGHT NOW! This is an RP guild of bad guys, not a guild of OOC bad guys. Nuff said.
