Sgt. McBride makes his way to the Keep of the Fist to get caught up on any reports that may have began to flow due to the influx of recruits. He gives his salute to the sentries as he enters and retrieves the reports and scans over them a bit..... Sergeant McBride, South of Baldur's Gate, while on my way back from patrol, I encountered a queer man trying to dodge behind some bushes upon my approach. He could give no explanation for it save that he sought his own safety. He ran away from me and joined with a tall woman whom I cannot identify. I advise to be on the watch for him as a normal man seeking safety does not hide from the Fist.He wears dark robes and a black cloak pulled low over his face. Private Heppenzeiler "Well, this is strange indeed." he thinks outloud to himself as he reads over the report and nods slowly. He turns about from the sentry and goes to find a place to reply..... Pvt. Heppenzeiler,
I am in reciept of your report and I must agree that it is indeed strange to see such actions along the Coast Way. Good job staying alert to such actions and knowing them to be suspicous. We shall pass the word to keep an eye out for such activity in the future. Be wary with such, these are also the tactics of cowardly thieves and bandits along that road as well. Speaking of which, do keep an eye out for the dwarf that travels with a Halfling. (he provides a long description of Grundin as was provided to him) It is said that they are involved in many a wicked ordeals ranging from theft to attempted murder. Myself and the Lt. dealt with one that matched the description but he claimed his name was Kruk. So, having said this, do not go and just begin to question every single dwarf with a halfling that you see. This must be handled in a proffesional manner. Stick to your standards of operation when dealing with this and make sure that you are in the right before any action is to be taken. Continue to carry on in your duties in as I have seen you do thus far.... May Helm guide you and guard you on your way and may you bring Glory to the Fist!
~Sgt. McBrideThe Sgt. finishes up his reply and gives it to the sentry to give to the Pvt. He returns the salute and leaves the Keep. He makes his way back to the Temple and begins to think about what he and the Lt. spoke about not only a day or so ago........

The small man sits at the desk with quill and ink and looks upon the parchment. His blank stare is evidence of the recent events and some that he knows have yet to come to fruition. The weight of duty is upon his shoulders and he knows this to be true....... Lt. Crownsilver,
What follows is a true and accurate account of the events of the destruction of one of the Lichs in this region....
Patrol started out normal along the Coastway just South of the city when I saw a small band of adventurers in the midst of a battle with undead near those Hill-Top ruins. I aided in that fight and we layed to rest the foul beasts. During this time, I observed one of the region's Lich's, though at the time I was unsure if this was of the Ramset family or not. Myself, Ujio, a female warrior of faith and a female of arcane prowess brought the beast down, only this time, we attempted to follow the shadow of the essence of the thing. You arrived not long after. The battles along that road were with the undead in masses! Eventually, we found ourselves in front of the entrance to the Mines just North of Beregost. Wisdom guided us through that foul place as we fought all the way to the Throne room area.
There, a great battle took place and we eventually slayed the beast long enough to locate the essence of the Lich. We destroyed the essence and I cleansed the general area with a good dose of Holy Water to insure that one Lich was gone for good. We now know that the Lich we destroyed was not of the Ramset family bloodline and that this one operated on it's own. This in and of itself is cause for heightened awareness of where the rest of them are and where they come from. Perhaps regular cleansing of these places is needed to keep foul ones from raising the dead and allowing others to grow in power. I shall send word to the Holy Order in reference to such.
On another note Sir, I am glad to see the ranks of the Fist bolstering. The recent promotion of Ulfjar Thorkelsson will be a fine addition to the structure as well as the new recruits we have on patrol now. I have been working with the new ones as much as I can in the fields of warfare and tactics. Battle formations and such as well. Perhaps, in time, we can muster the strength needed with the aid of some of the local adventurers to go forth an cleanse that foul stronghold once and for all!
It has been nothing but a thorn in our sides with their murderous ways and that foul temple is nothing but a boost to their moral. It has been the site of raid after raid and could become a true threat to the safety of the City herself Sir, should it be allowed to be controlled by the likes of more intelligent beasts. Perhaps we can propose this to the Duke and let he and the other Dukes show to the region the strength that is in Baldur's Gate and the will of those who govern her with the capture of that foul place! This would be a great way to make that road a more safe place for all who travel along that road.
This is all I have to report and discuss at this time Sir.
~May Helm guide us and guard us along our way as we stand against the evils that plague this land!
Sgt. Aiden McBride
The Sgt. places the quill upon the desk and a small drop of ink splashes down on the wood. He dries off the ink on the parchment and then rolls it into a tight roll. He reaches over and grabs a small stick of wax and holds it over the candle flame. The wax slowly becomes soft and he smears it on the crease of the scroll. He then picks up his seal and presses it into the soft wax and cools it off with his breath. Aiden looks to the seal of Helm in that wax and seems to become a bit dazed as he stares with a blank face at it for a moment. He eventually lets out a long sigh and nods slowly as he stands and gives the report to the sentry posted up. "Give this to Lt. Crownsilver Pvt." as he hands the scroll over. He gives a quick salute and makes his way back to the Temple of Helm......

Ulfjar Thorkelsson has been promoted to the rank of Corporal. Sgt. Aiden McBride was apparently in the know before the official announcement. ;D

* A hastily written letter addressed to the commander of the Flaming Fist, delivered at the compound by way of street urchin*
Encountered massive gnoll forces by the old fortress ruin between the Gate and Beregost. Dispatched gnolls, they were assisted by spellcasting creatures of a strange sort. Ventured into ruins, apparently shrine of Bhaal. No further creatures found.
Would do well to keep a watch on that place, step up patrols. Was thinking, Thayans are fond of gnoll slaves- Coincidence?
If more information is wanted, contact me at Elfsong Tavern

A plain scroll has been left in the Flaming Fist Barracks upon Sgt Aiden Mcbride's bunk. Stamped with the official seal of the Flaming Fist.
Sgt Mcbride, first allowed me this opportunity to congratulate you on an excellent job redrafting the rules and regulation of the Flaming Fist stationed here in Baldur's Gate. I trust you will make sure each sworn to uphold our ideals with follow this manual to the letter. However, before doing so see that Section III, Rule Number Five is changed to reflexed Duke Eltan's wishes. That all drow are to be considered hostile, and be dealt with accordingly. There will be no exceptions this time. We cannot ever again allow our enemies to prey upon our good nature and turn it against us! I will not have another Ne'Lleenya occur as long as I still hold a command within the Fist! Any man or woman wearing the uniform that encounters a drow and stays their blade. I will see personally spends the rest of their enlistment turning big rocks into much smaller rocks in one of the nearby quarries and spend their nights rotting away in a cold dark cell!!
It is important that these changes to the rules be made right away before there is any confusion, and I trust you will see to it at once.
Continue to bring glory to the Fist,
Signed
Lieutenant Justin Crownsilver.

The Sgt. makes his way to the Keep and gives his usual salutes to the sentries posted up. Once inside he makes his way to the quarters area of the keep and notices a plain scroll with the seal of the Fist upon it. He reaches down and breaks the wax seal and begins to read...... This can indeed cause much confusion." he retrieves the manual and makes his way back to the Temple of Helm to make the changes to reflect that which the Duke himself had ordered many moons ago........

Private Brundenburg reporting sir.
My patrol was a mighty eventful one today. On my way back from Beregost I encountered a man, a dwarf and a gnome standing near that evil temple of the gnolls. The man and gnome claimed the dwarf had caused a pack of gnolls to swarm them. The dwarf denied the allegations in mighty strong terms. It was one's word against the other two so a bit of questioning was the furthest I got before resuming the trip north. If things had stopped there I wouldn't have thought overmuch about the incident but evidently the dwarf thought he could learn something of note by spying on me. I spotted him skulking along the road a little ways on listening to my talk with a half-orc that stopped me to ask some questions. The dwarf kept his cool when I addressed him but I'm right sure that he had thought himself to be clever in hiding and eavesdropping.
Here's the description of the fellow:
Red tunic and red cloak. He had a helmet shaped mighty like a hat besides. I'm pretty sure he had a battleaxe at his side but that's a detail I can't vouch for with certainty. His hair was mighty dark, brown but of shades approaching black almost. He had his beard braided with little bits of ribbon or string tying things in place.
Shortly after that I came across one Nahum of the Weavemasters and a halfling carrying a body of a dwarf. The dwarf had brought news of a wyvern attack on Beregost. Before any sort of decision could be reached, a right wicked looking old crone - a witch if you ask me - came along and croaked out that her time for power was come and that there was nothing we could do to stop the evils. She made herself scarce but a mighty big group of willing adventurers had gathered and reckonining that we had sufficient force we set out to aid the troubled town. I won't go into details about the battles. Suffice to say, we had to plow through demons, devils and a great army of ogres just to make progress down the Tradeway. We made it and what's more, we drove back what wyverns were left in the city. We had momentum and just kept driving forward killing the demons and whatnot until we found ourselves deep in a valley filled with mighty strange, twisted trees. Some more beasts spawned from that grove so we ended up burning it down with mage fire. That seemed to end the coming of the devils so our group returned to Beregost and disbanded. I've got a piece of fruit or some such sample from the evil trees here with me to turn over to some sage for a right proper examinination. That's the whole of the tale I've brought to report.

Are there any specific recruiting requirements for the Fist? Yes, there are. Not only are there recruiting requirements for the Fist, but there are also requirements for after you join. The Fist is a fairly heavy RP organization. Usually people join in-game and I make a little RP scenario out of it (even if they later decide that the Fist is not for them). If you want to try this out with your character, that's fine. If you want to know the actual requirements without going through the RP process, ask for them and I'll tell you. Eventually if the forums ever get sorted out better, I'll have it in a nice convenient spot for all to see.

With the ever-increasing reports of drow sightings and the people on edge and nervous, Duke Eltan has issued orders to all Flaming Fist to kill any drow encountered on sight. The only exceptions are the two Drow Malkar and Mithari (if they happen to be recognized).
There is now a bounty of 1000 gold on the head of every drow walking the surface. This does not apply to the drow mentioned above.
*Detailed descriptions of Malkar and Mithari follow*

Kerto Brundenburg returns to headquarters with a disturbing report after coming in from patrol. Not all the red on his uniform is part of its normal color.
Sir. I've got some news that may come as a surprise.. or maybe not. Upon arriving in Beregost I came across some drow. Not one drow and a half-drow but two drow and a half drow. It didn't take me long to find out which two were the ones protected by the temple and I drove the third right out of Beregost and crossed blades near the bridge. Sorry to say, I wasn't fully prepared for battle and he bested me in the fight. One cleric of Lathander brought me healing but I was unable to catch the drow who had made tracks to the north.
With that Kerto is dismissed and heads towards the barracks for much needed rest.
