The Underdark " Tavern tales across Faerun's sunlit lands whisper of the Underdark, a lightless, subterranean realm that is home to fabled races and ancient, unspeakable evil. It is a domain of primeval mysteries and unending war, a hidden world of cruel masters and hopeless slaves, filled with monstrous races that were old before humans were born. It is a dank, dismal place of fungus, rot, and slime. So dire is the reputation of the Underdark and its denizens that mothers caution their children to behave, lest the dark elves steal them away." - The Underdark 3.5 ResourseThe Drow city of Sshamath-Sshamath was established in -4973 DR by the Lolth-worshipping Drow House Sshamath. It was a standard drow city for nearly 2000 years. Then, in -2867 DR it was discovered that the city's local faerzress was fluctuating badly. Five years later it was gone and the city was greatly weakened. Around 3 centuries previous the Matron Mothers of the city had given birth to an unusually large number of male children. This, of course contributed to a large increase in the number of wizards and a decrease in the number of priestesses. Thanks to the lack of nearby threats the house wizards set about plundering the ruins of lost civilizations like Netheril and Oghrann. They took and duplicated every magical item that they could find and used them to instigate a very short civil war that killed all of the house matriarchs and replaced them with wizards. Now, practitioners of the art reign supreme. Z'orr'bauth The great pillar in the center of the city. it stretches from the floor of the cavern where travellers can access the city right to the roof which leads to the entrance cave above the city. The Dark Weavings BazaarThe Dark Weavings Bazaar is a trading ground for all things magical. It is said a wizard can find almost anything they want, and if they can't, it can be found for them. Races of all types come here to buy and sell and are welcome in the city so long as they have business to attend. Our goal on this PW is to create an Underdark so big that when the subterranean races see the surface for the first time they are already level 10-15. We are still looking for talented interior cave builders to help us with this project. The pre-fabs, lights, settings, and placeables are laid out and ready to go. We just need help making the long winding corridors of the Underdark.

Ahhh yes, finally there will be a place for the subterranean races! Also, I think that this dark environment will really help Underdark races to stay true to their races and decrease the number of "Drizzit" people.

Aye, will be a good addition too all the UD classes, i remember when i played in a drow society, it had the same aspects of only making the strong ones too be able too reach the surface, and then cuase havoc ! And it was very enjoyable Aswell ;D but back then i played a female drow, For now im stuck with a male

There are 4 guys building caves for us at the moment. There will be miles and miles twisting winding caves filled with every manor of death waiting to slay. Beholder hives, Mind Flayer holds, and everything else that goes bump in the night. The Drow city is going to be awesome. It is the city of Sshamath that lies far to the east of Baldur's Gate. It is a city that is no longer dominated by the drow priestess of Lloth. Sshamath is a city ran by powerful Drow wizards instead. It is a city that relishes in magical trade, and allows any sentient being to trade at its markets. That is, if you can find it..... Learn more about Sshamath at wiki here.

Actually it should be easy to find with how many trade there. JLF we had Revyn do Ssarmesh on THP, what we did for the city since it was so big is we built it as an exterior.. that way we could make it this massive cavernous place. Then turned the skyring to jet black, added some floating placed light orbs and tossed in houses, tents, ect. Turned out pretty good, though still had a lot of work to be done.
Also check the other areas I had sent you a while ago, those labled UD Hud, UD Tunnels, or the likes should help you out with the shallow tunnels of the UD as they are dimly lit at best, but have mining tracks and other UD stuff in them. Itll save you guys some time. -Ice

Not really. Lore states that they are fearful of opening up to trade with anyone and everyone from the surface, so it still remains low key. While they allow anyone to trade very few from the surface make it to Sshamath. It is after all 7 miles below the surface.
Thanks for the heads up though I'll check into it. But more than likely I'll build my own version. I'll be using the Drow placeables as well making the huge central spire with the winding staircase that leads up to the exit at the top of the pumpkin shaped cavern. I want this area to be one of my best yet.

This does sound really exciting, might make a Drow char myself, once this is finished.
Also will there be an option for other races to begin in Sshamath? Maybe as human or duergar slaves?
If not, will there be a city for the duergars? Because most of duergars in drow cities are slaves.

Also will there be an option for other races to begin in Sshamath? Maybe as human or duergar slaves? If not, will there be a city for the duergars? Because most of duergars in drow cities are slaves. IF, I am reading this and understanding this correctly, then, there should not be a need for a seperate starting place for those other races due to this Drow City not being ruled by the usual Drow Females/Priestess and so on. This place is ruled by Drow Male's and Spell slingers to boot. I do not know if they would still have those kind of slaves here or not, but, if they do not and there is the option for other races placed into effect, then.....this gives you the player a great oppertunity to come up with a Background for your "slave race" that can be an interesting read about how he escaped slavery? (( if that is even possible in the UD, would be kinda hard for a human who cannot see in the dark and does not have acess to a gem of brightness or goggles of night I would think...just my opinion though ))
