Ok.... This was strange... I was playing with Silverleaf (lvl 10 ranger) in the Wyverns area and killing some Wyverns by chance Thing is I had my lifebar full and some protection spells... I killed some Wyverns but there was one that hit me once and suddenly I was dead... ;D I was wondering, can those things kill instantly?

It could haev been a critical hit, or you could have sustained poisin from previosu wyverns, or it could have been the poisin from the wyvern that killed you si my guesz.

Poison is viscous indeed. My issue was that I provoked an Attack of Opportunity and received poison. I failed to neutralize the poison and tried to rest while still poisoned and sustained the secondary damage which is what brought me down. I have also had this happen while fighting a Wyvern before. I sustained poison and kept on fighting, like an idiot, then secondary damage and near the same time, it got me with another hit....it made for a very long and bad day....

I was not poisoned previously... The only thing I can imagine is that it was the poison of the wyvern I was trying to kill, but that´s exactly the point... my lifebar was full and I believe poison acts continously, not instantly...

The constitution drop the poison causes can cause instant death like that. It came unexpected to me since I'm used to the Baldur's Gate-style poison.

Critical hits cant occur on Normal Setting , only Hardcore.
CON damage can kill you, reduced below 0 CON and ... Smile... your dead.
Poison isnt a damage over time type thing, its instant and generally saps your stats.

Filth and lies! Wyverns are your friend. I like to ride on their backs.
*Giddy up wyvern*
Have you hugged your wyvern today?

Also note that the wyverns do 2d6 con, when it drops you to 0 con you die instantly (per dnd rules, certain things happen when you hit 0 in any ability).
Also note that when you lose con you loose HP respectivly.
If the wyverns drop you to a negative con mod you loose HP respectivly even though they dont damage you.
For example if you end up with a -4 con modifier that penalty is applied to your HP retroactivly per level.
For example, a level 15 char with 18 con, who is dropped to a conwith a -5 modifier looses 75hp right off the bat in addition to any damage the actual attack did (5 hp per level).
Modifers work both ways, negative modifiers take away from HP, and postive modifers give HP.
