Directive from Duke Eltan.
As a result of the trial involveing former Private Bjorl Barro and Corporal Juston Crownsilver, after much deliberation a judgement was handed out by the duke, for immediate compliance. Private Bjorls sentence is contained in another directive from the duke.
Corporal Justions ability to control troops under his command, and his over all ability to lead and assert authority has been called into question in light of the events that led to the trial held today.
Corporal Justons service and dedication to the fist is unquestionable, but his ability to lead is now suspect, and thus by decree of Duke Eltan, Corporal Crownsilver is suspended from the city for half a tenday to serve as acting commander of Flaming Fist soldiers in the recently claimed city of Beregost. Upon completeion of his half a tenday suspension he will be allowed to resume his normal patrols.
Duke Eltan Moruene Hurbold Duenthia Kuluark.

\\you better do something with FF guys, because Bjorl now is convinced that Fists are a bunch of completely unprofessional pompous buttheads, kissingmorekissingoftenarses in a rank way, losers, who do nothing, except getting killed on every corner. They threw away strong warriors for heart attack of bloody cow of Jorn and false accusation in not obeying orders. And if someone IG will ask me, as exFF, who are they - he will hear that.

The Flaming Fist Road Wardens TO: Lieutenant Yulimtul FROM: Corporal Justin Crownsilver
Lieutenant Yulimtul,
As ordered I have returned after my half of a ten day suspension, and I'm pleased to report that the town of Beregost seems to be recovering quite nicely after being under the control of the Iron Throne for so long. Our garrison while not fully staffed is up and running and should be able to lend whatever support that part of the region needs. However, while I am happy to be rid of the “Band of Justice”, I fear the duke was correct to believe my ability to lead men into battle is suspect. While on patrol earlier today I ran into one of our agents, and had ask if it would be possible to gather any information on the whereabouts of the Banite Ryokami. Not wanting our conversations to be heard, we trekked up to the old hilltop ruins just south of the farmlands. It was there that we encounter a very large blue skinned giant wielding a viscous battle axe. He appeared to be some kind of bodyguard of some sort, and would chase or challenge anyone foolish enough to approach the entrance leading down to crypts beneath the ruins. Which was the case when a rather clueless female adventure strayed too close, forcing me to act before the brute could have at her. Tossing a bag of choking powder at the giant’s feet, I was able to distract him long enough to allow the adventure to escape. However, the bastard was able to alert others of our position before I had cut him down. The agent who shall remain anonymous throughout this whole report for security reasons of course, managed to make short work of any other resistance that dared to cross swords with the Flaming Fist. Shortly after that a rather huge armored half-orc came up from the crypts and decided he too wished to join his companions in death which I was more than happy to oblige. Though it was quite dark after the battle I swear by Torm’s mailed fist, I had seen this half-orc before. Perhaps the same one that tried to ambush me in the Cloak Woods the night before while I was searching for Ryokami. Not wanting to walk into another ambush, I tasked the female adventure whose name eludes me, to find the nearest Flaming Fist patrol and inform them of the situation. Both I and the agent entered the crypt, and waited for reinforcements to arrive.
It didn’t take long before seven very young and brave lads the finest the Fist have to offer, join us as we searched for any more of these brigands that decided to make the ancient tomb a new staging area for their operations. I ordered two men to stay behind and guard the exit, while the rest of us began our search. Expecting to run into more brigands like the ones we faced on the surface we were woefully unprepared for what we encountered down in the crypt, and I take full responsibility. One by one I watched helplessly my men fall to scores of undead the likes I have never seen before. They fought bravely a true testament to our organization, still it wasn’t enough. I was left with no other choice but to order a retreat back to the exit. By the gods however, that is where a Shadow Reaver waited thus blocking our escape. The screams of the dying could be heard all around me as I hacked away at the vile creature. When the dust finally settled we were victorious, but not without paying a high price indeed. All seven brave men that answer my call for assistance lie dead, and it is I who failed them proving the Duke’s suspicions to be true.
After the battle the agent allowed me a brief respite to gather my thoughts and to morn for our losses, while word was spread to dispatch priests to gather the dead. I searched to tomb once more by myself before setting out back to the city.I did find a rather hefty sum of gold while searching the brigand’s lair and gladly will use it to compensate the families of our dead. Once I made my way back down to the Trade Way however. I was attacked by a tiny assassin whom I recognized immediately as the infamous Halfling menace, Slith. Who as you may already know, has been preying upon travelers for quite some time. Rumor even has him placed at the scene of the murder of that Tyranian Arch Priest a fortnight ago. His clever use of guerrilla tactics by striking fast and hard then fleeing into the shadows would have worked if I had not been a former Purple Dragon quite familiar in this form of combat. Which allowed me to gain the upper hand thus subduing the little thief before he could make good on his escape. I was forced however to render Slith unconscious when he tried to escape custody after he attempting to bribe me into letting him go, claiming an evil wizard had charmed him into attacking me, and was willing to pay anything if only I release him. He currently is being held within one of our holding cells awaiting interrogation. I’m sure that the citizens of Baldur’s Gate will rejoice that this little pest is no longer a problem. Does little I’m afraid to ease my guilt on what transpire before then.
I believe I may be unfit for command sir, I’m not sure I can continue to lead these men into battle, which is why I must hunt for Ryokami alone. Their deaths shall weigh on my conscience for as long as I shall live.
Glory to the Fist!
Corporal Justin Crownsilver.

A sealed letter arrives from one of private soldiers. He said he found it on the floor in the headquarters and it seemed important. After opening, the red seal turns blue. The letter is written in capitals.
The Flaming Fist TO: Lieutenant Yulimtul FROM:
Lieutenant Yulimtul,
I have read Corporal Crownsilvers report and admit that actions stated there are true. Nevertheless I need to make a comment regarding his leadership.
The corporal has blamed himself for the loss of these men, however facing enemy like this only skilled veterans could survive. Upon returning to true death, the reaver has exploded with deadly poison in amounts only folk who have lived through previous contact with it would be able to survive. As soldiers were surrounding the enemy, they had no chance of coming back alive or avoiding the blast.
Corporal Crownsilvers blind mania of hunting the baneite is clouding his judgement. He does not stand a chance of surviving the encounter as a wizard of Ryokami's power shouldn't be faced without a considerable force.
I strongly suggest suspending Justin Crownsilver from his current duty of hunting the villain. I believe it would be better if his duty would be forming a special squad able to tackle the wizard and training them to high end levels. A person of his experience will have no problems in dealing with both. Since it was the lack of training provided to the reinforcement men that the corporal blames himself of, he will have an excellent opportunity to repair his reputation among the Fist as well as in his own eyes. Only with a specially trained squad will he be able to bring Ryokami to justice.
Signed

//One thing that annoys me folks and It might be just me are the anonomous letters to the guard, who ever you handed it to would see what the messenger looks like, and could in theory track down who sent the letter, plus if I were a Duke or a flaming fist officer I would ignore any letter that wasnt signed.
//Just me though, i felt like i needed to throw ten cents into this thread

***The note is printed in very neat semi-large letters and signed with a flourish at the end***
The Flaming Fist Road Wardens TO: Corporal Justin Crownsilver FROM: Private Belferon Corgano (AKA: Bel)
Corporal Crownsilver,
Let me first introduce myself, I am a new recruit to The Flaming Fist. I was inducted two days ago by the Duke. So greetings to you good Sir. I am writing this letter concerning brigands on the Coast Way near the Friendly Arm Inn.
I was escorting a new person, a dwarf named Magnus Stormforge, with the company of the good Lady Desiree, from Baldur's Gate to Beregost. Unfortunately, we had an altercation with some brigands on the roads. The following is a description of the brigands:
Name: Uk Race: Half-Orc Gender: Male Description: A tall, ugly, brutish Half-Orc who is none the too bright, but strong as an ox. Wielding a large two-handed axe at the time.
Name: Unknown Race: Elf/Half-Elf Gender: Female Description: A slender Elf or half-Elf, intelligent and cunning. Sneaky as well. Was wielding a crossbow or two swords in melee. She seemed to be the one in "control" (And I use that lightly) Of Uk the Half-Orc.
Name: Unknown Race: Human? Gender: Male Description: An normal sized human? Clad in full plate armor wielding a two-handed sword. He was not part of the initial two, but joined them later and fought with the brigands.
The three described above, tried to charge my companions and myself a toll for crossing a bridge on The Coast Way. When we refused, the one named UK began insulting us and taunting us. I remained calm and was trying to think of a solution to the problem at hand, when UK seemed to work himself up into a rage and charged us. I immediately charged to meet this threat as did my companions. That's when the fight was joined by UK's other two companions as described above.
I am sorry to say that the fight did not bode well for us and we were rendered unconscious. At least, I believe that we were unconscious as my companions and I found ourselves floating down the river much farther down from the bridge. I would ask that we keep an eye out for these brigands and try to prevent them from praying on other travelers as well.
Thank you for your time, Private Bel

Lagnar the dwarf clambers into the Flaming Fist Castle and walks over to the lobby desk. "Oi, I be wantin' to sign up. Get me an application or whatever it be I need to do. I've had enough o' bandits attacking me, wild orcs hitting me, nutty Banites trying to smash me, and not the mention doing the same to other people. I'm gonna start arrestin' 'em. Not to mention that I've enjoyed werking with yer folks..."

The young man makes his way to the Castle of the Flaming Fist with a scroll in his hand. " Sir, Private Aiden returning from patrol sir!" as he gives his salute. The grim faced soldier returns his salute and Aiden enters into the building and approaches the sentry just inside. " Give this to Cpl. Crownsilver when he returns." and with that, the follower of Helm turns and exits the castle...... Cpl. Crownsilver, I am writing this to report to you the most recent of events beyond that of the thief near the Thayans booth. While on patrol just South of the city, I ran into the likes of three adventurers along the Tradeway. One of which called himself Dreadfang. This, Dreadfang, was accused of recruiting along the Tradeway for the purpose of wickedness, I found no proof of this and so, returned to my patrol. Then, while speaking with Lagnar, a dwarven adventurer, I was attacked by some form of magicks by this, Dreadfang. The two adventurers that stood near to him quickly subdued him and I took him into custody.
The good dwarf, Lagnar, assisted me in escorting Dreadfang to the Gaols where he was locked away for the night until further notice of what to do with him. I did not suffer any wounds from his magicks, but, I do not know what magicks he did and he denies all allegations. Lagnar seemed a good and helpful soul and held quite the sway over the one I had in custody. He asked me about recruiting efforts by the Fist and what benefits they had. I spoke of the Glory and Duty and Honor it is to be a member of this Organization and he seemed interested in joining as well. He seems to have a fire about him, but, one I believe may need tempering a bit to make him a fine addition to the Fist. I thank you for your time in reading over this report.
~May Helm guide us and guard us in all that we do....

A surley dwarf marches swiftly through the main entrance of the castle of the Fist. He bangs his fist on his chest in a salute to those in the room, hands one of them a hastily scribbled letter, and makes his exit.
To Corporal Crownsilver,
With all due respect Corporal I'm fer hopin yer considerin the request of me kin to be joinin us here in the Fist. I'm knowin he's wantin it, an' a bit more dwarven bluster wouldn't be hurtin a thing around here. I been hearin he's already helpin out in field, an' in these stressin times we'd best be shorin up our numbers. Consider this letter my endorsement for Lagnar, I'm fer knowin he's on the side of good.
Respectfully, Private Hargriss Hammerfist

The young man makes his way to the Castle of the Flaming Fist with a scroll in his hand. "Sir, Cpl. Aiden returning from patrol sir!" as he gives his salute. The grim faced soldier returns his salute and Aiden enters into the building and approaches the sentry just inside. "Give this to Sgt. Crownsilver when he returns." and with that, the follower of Helm turns and exits the castle...... Sgt. Crownsilver,
First off, congratulations on the promotion to Sergeant. Now, I write to you to give report of the most recent events that I have yet had a chance to report to you.
A wolf-like beast that stood on two legs ran wild on The Coast Way. It did not immediately attack all it saw, but, it was in a rage like state that it ran. It was not like the Dog-Faced Gnolls, no, more like the wolves. It fled from myself and a few others and it fled with an unholy swiftness with which we could not keep up. We slowed down near the bridge to catch our breath, when, a multitude of the beasts swarmed us! They were just like the large beast, only smaller. We battled against them and came out the victors. Afterwards, We went into Beregost to give chase of the larger one and what I found was a horror to look upon.
We found the likes of two, and it pains me to report this, two Fist Soldiers, dead and half-eaten set upon pikes in the road of Beregost! There was also the bodies of Orc in the area. The locals say that it was the Thayans. I do not know if this is the case. It may have been that Ryokami, Thayans or the Orc. There is only one who I believe knows the truth of the matter and he did not wish to speak that night. He was the street merchant nearest to the Juggler Inn and not far from the Thunderhammer Smithy. We hunted the beast down until dawn with no luck at all. I do not know what this beast was, only that it stood like a man, but, with the body of a wolf with uncanny speed.
Next, while patrolling South along The Coast Way, I was with a group who traveled into Nashkel. I know that it is common knowledge that Nashkel has fallen to the likes of the Giants, but, it seems as if they have fled the area. We traveled there and saw not one Giant! We thought that this may be good news indeed. We all decided to travel further South to get a good look at the area and the damages done and went into the Foothills of the Cloud Peak Mountain range.
This is where we found an unsettling find indeed. There seems to be a gathering of powerful Orc and a different kind of Wyvern in those mountains along with the likes of Giants among the Giants! Giant wolves as well! Myself, Ujio, the powerful Half-Orc Arkaine, a dwarf who wields magicks named Erukus, and a mage named Nahum. We barely escaped with our lives. I fear that the reason the smaller giants left Nashkel, is because of the larger ones who are in those cursed Mountains. Those Orc spoke to us as they attacked. They said, "Flee from here humans!" or something to that effect, I was busy fighting for my life when it took place. Wave after wave of Orc came down upon us. More so than the the ones in the Gnolls Stronghold not so long ago led by the Hill Giant. Not only that, but, those Giants were throwing some sort of giant balls of snow down upon us and caused much havoc amongst our ranks. I fear that they may organize more effectively than did the Hill Giants. They were powerful indeed and if it were not for the blessings of Helm upon us...we surely would have died there in that pass.
I continue my Duty to patrol The Coast Way and aid those who need aid and protect those who cannot protect themselves. I have given Ulfjar, son of Thorkel, the duty of patrol along the road South of the City to Beregost as per Hurbold Duethkatha's request to patrol the roads and protect the City.
Sgt., this is all that I have to report as of now beyond that which I had already reported to you a day or so ago. May Helm guide us and guard us in these trying times as we continue on in our duties.....
Cpl. Aiden McBride
