So I was wondering, the time will eventually come for the "Time of Troubles" When god are forced to walk as men, yadda yadda.
Lots of gods fight, lots die, magic and divine magic is almost snuffed out unless near your diety, and Bhaal is getting [ALOT of Poon-tang.
Will there eventually be Bhaal Spawn players and such years after this event? (If so they'd all be doomed to eventually die in loo of only the Baldur's Gate main character surviving)
And what of the time ittsself? Will mages and Clerics log on to find that their god has fallen to the earth and they cannot cast?
This is far in the future but after what Zeal said in the post about Custom Races it got me thinking.
((Ooo! When you walk into Candlekeep will we be chased down the Street by Imoen going
"HEY YA! ITS ME IMOEN!"

The Time of Troubles is the date Josh is trying to launch the server around. We dont know what will happen with some of the gods, but some things will be changing to reflect fallen gods. As for Bhaalspawn.. Id say no, otherwise everyone would want to be one essentially. -Ice

Would Warlocks be affected seeing as they get their powers from local sources?
What about Bards? And Sorcerer's do they get their power from god's or their own vocals/willpower?
I'm hideously under-studied on FR lore and my college classes are replacing my lore D: haha

I believe all forms of magic will be affected. Warlocks im not sure. But sorcerors im pretty sure. the Weave itself will be disturbed. Right Cephas? ;D

Scripting headache maybe?

Warlocks, well they weren't around in D&D during the time of troubles, nor were sorcerors.. so I suppose you could make a logical conclusion that since they manipulate the weave they would be affected (as the weave was made unstable). Bards would be for the same reason. Clerics, unless very near their avatars (and even then) wouldnt have any control over their divine spellcasting.

During Time of Troubles magic was pretty much dead. So, no magic for magic using classes. And who says you cannot use 3.5 Edition Rules to play events happened before Time of Troubles.
Lore-wise, we could already have Bhaal-spawns running around. (Perhaps unaware of their heritage.)

bhaalspawn could be used to great RP advantage if dm's each played one (some could be good, some evil) and gathered around each bhaalspawn a coterie of players that aid them in their quest (to become bhaal. to thwart other bhallspawn. to kill bhaal, whatever).
now that would be cool!

The goal is when we go live we will start in the year 1350 and move forward. A lot of things happened in the following decade that I want to see us recreate as we roll along. The first will be the founding of the Friendly Arm Inn, followed by other things like the discovery of Warlocks Crypt and the great plague that hits Baldur's Gate.
At some point in the next few years I want to do a massive Time of Troubles event. We will fudge it and have more gods than normal in Baldur's Gate and really go all out with Avatars roaming the land and wild magic etc. We can makeit last several months and really take it as far as we want to go.
We have got some good things in store.

When we go live, Bhaal will be dead in 96 days. To do anything major, we really would need some more time in my opinion.

Indeed, we will most def have to adjust time. Its something we will look into. Work will be needed to seperate things like resting from it.
