Luna, about the recovery question... what is the specific check that is made to award the disarming player?
Wouldn't the disarmed event still fire - even OnRecover?
Perhaps the syntax is too specific that it is missing the award option through a failed check or invalid value.

Might I suggest a slight change to the whole chest situation? It seems to me that thieves are still obsolete because a fighter just needs to run up and bash the chest and still recieves the same stuff...I say that if you do choose to BASH a chest, some of the items inside should show as "Broken item". It would make the fighter types find a thief so thay wouldn't lose out on anything...Just a suggestion...

well on the old PW i played on when partied it was customary to either:
1) roll to see who kept each item or 2) split up loot at the end of the party
bunch of keeblers here though, which makes me suspicious of the "there is no meta-gaming" i keep hearing from people.

I see your point, but the items inside the chest can only be seen by those who open it. If you close the chest to let the other see it you lose the items.

The Rp should go like this....I'm a fighter..I'm lookining to HIRE someone with skills I don't have...Once the price is agreed upon, the fighter pays the thief half up front...the thief can unlock and disable without opening the chest..I know I've done it for people...The contents belong to the fighter...he paid the thief for his services already...either coin or items...If the fighter so chooses to give one of the finds to the thief for helping in a fight then it is his choice to do so....The same goes the otherway...Say a thief hears a rumor that there is a treasure deep in the mines in the Cloakwood...If he can't handle it himself then he needs to HIRE a merc. Just my thoughts....

It look like Josh didn't lay any down. But they do exist in the module and were built with thieves in mind, so basically only thieves, or players with decent lock pick skill can open the magic lock box chests.. I'll check with Josh and see if he can swap some into the Module. Also, once we re-enable harder traps.. thieves might be more useful as well. Harder traps will have Disarm DC's over 20 which only a thief can disarm. This isn't going to fix everything though because people can still blow the traps off and take the damage. Lastly way down the road if you think thieves are still useless, we can make it so the traps on some chests to not dis-appear when someone bashes the chests and sets the trap off. This in effect would require the trap to be disarmed to get into the chest. But this is a pretty harsh option on players, so I didn't implement this right now.
