Anybody? Somebody? ;D ;D ;D
But seriously, thanks for trudging through this beta with me and everyone else on the team. For quite a few of us, building this PW has been our first experience in online world building for NWN2 or NWN.
We are getting there though. And as soon as things become more firm with crafting, the monster loot system, and the implementation of NESS we can set a firm launch date.

Just want to say thanks to J for following his vision of building this PW.
As a long time staff member for a now defunct PW I know what goes into this type of an undertaking.
My thoughts:
Things I like:
1) layout of the PW. PC's actually have to travel to get places. The zones are well thought out, and beautifully crafted.
2) the general population of players. so far good stuff from everyone.
3) DM work. seems to always be somebody online or in game.
Things I am having a hard time with:
1) Death penalty: Its way harsh. The amount of XP lost by a PC for death is detrimental to my play. I do not have hours on end to grind for XP. I have a very busy life as a teacher, varsity high school coach (2 seasons), and a husband and father of 3. Game time for me comes in 30 minute incriments, or the occassional late night 3 hour block when everyone is asleep. To lose thousands of XP, for death is a real turn off. I was horrified the other day to find that I lose XP even when rezzed.
I know I can just go and find another PW that better fits my personal style, but I like it here and want to stay. Please reconsider how Death is handled.
2) Loot from kills: The gold and gems are pretty on par with what I like. Not too much, and not to often. Keeps the economy in check for the most part. I would like to see more gear dropped from Mobs though. Why can't there be a % chance for a specific mob to drop an item in their inventory. I know Iceshard has literally thousands of items created.
PVP: Again this ties back to the death penalty. I like PvP alot, and will likely engage in it. There has been a real lack of PvP in my experience. While I haven't gone out and picked any fights, I haven't had a single encounter with a PC who threatened my character with harm. Its just strange to me that any player can run around anywhere and not have to worry about other PC's attacking them.
My guess is that the death penalty is so harsh that it keeps players from engaging in PvP.
PvP is a very good tool for RP, and RP should be directly linked to any PvP. Some of my best memories in my 18 years of online gaming have been via PvP encounters. Some of my best gaming friends and all time nemesis have come about as a result of PvP (usually due to my getting my ass handed to me).
Grind: This PW lends itself to grinders. To obtain xp, or gold, its been my experience that grinding is absolutely necessary to advance. Unless a character is being led through high level areas by a high level character for the specific purpose of farming xp and gold, a solo player, or a group of players with similar experience levels have to work long and hard to move forward. This is not a real problem for me, as I will put in the time, and respect the length of time it should take to advance, but I wanted to list it anyways.
Again, thanks to the team for putting this together!

You know Erulaan I haven't thought about it really but that does need adjusting a little bit. Over time we hae lowered the exp payout little by little as we try to dial it in and never once adjusted the death penalty.

My guess is that the death penalty is so harsh that it keeps players from engaging in PvP. PvP does not result in players being sent to the Fugue Plane and thus there is not death penalty for it. Some exceptions when being sent to the Fugue does occur: 1.) Bugged spells 2.) Spells that continue to do damage after killing (?) 3.) On the off-chance that two PCs kill each other at the exact same time, one of them gets sent there. 4.) Summons ----------------- Now, as far as having fun... OF COURSE I AM!!! Who couldn't when there's a huge world with lots of interaction to explore, many good RPers, and an ever-increasing amount of areas? It doesn't matter that I have the added bonus of the ultra-powerful Ujio-smite button.... I'd have fun here anyway.

I'm having a blast! I love the zones and staff (and everything already mentioned) I also get to interact with players with some pretty major RP skills (I am humbled) and many that are learning to develop them.
For a Beta, this place is awesome! (If it wasn't a beta, it'd still be awesome) It's too awesome in fact. I need to re-assess every so often because the addiction is keeping me from RL. LOL.

I'm not having fun! I only log in every night due to some horrible psychological disorder that drives me to inflict terrible mental punishment upon myself. That complex is evidently compounded by severe schizophrenia as evidenced by the utterly insane, illogical and massive assortment of atypical stereotypical PC's that I inflict upon helpless players.

And, on a more serious note, I think you guys have done a fantastic job, and for the first time in a VERY long time, I have confidence that the people in charge of this server not only know what they are doing and have a vision of what they want to accomplish, but have the dedication and desire to stick with it and get it done.
Hat's off to all of you, Dev's and DM's, HMV, and whoever else, for making this awesome server.
