My ranger is quite capable of setting traps but sadly I havent found any for sell on the server.
Will there be a vendor somewhere to buy different kind of trap ?

Minor traps available in a shop, but they dont do a lot of damage (I tried using them wth my ranger as well)...more powerful versions (including deadly) can be picked up during many DM events.. and i know some characters have them to sell. Hint, hint.
You just gotta explore a little more man and RP with other characters. They are tough to get ahold of, but they are out there.

Yeah there are players out there with deadly traps for sale.. but he requires services, not coin. Also there will be a black market vendor going in soon, but he wont be available to the general public. I would imagine the higher trap grades would stay in the control of the shady players as its one of the advantages they have.... but I could be wrong. -Ice

I would favor putting them ON chests moreso than putting them IN chests.. if someone wants one they can remove it.
That would be my vote anyway. And I dont have disable device skill so there.. ha ha.

They are on chests, but are set to not recoverable. It's a huge flaw leaving recverable traps all over the place in PW's as thiefs can just rake in gold from strolling around collecting traps.
Maybe we can setup chests to there is a slim chance a trap will be set to recoverable? The only bad thing with that is you would have to right click every trap you come across to see if you can recover it.

Ok, well I can see that point. The same reason not every MOB that wields a weapon drops it when killed. It makes sense.
If the slim chance of recoverable is easily implemented without being a pain that would be cool, otherwise in the chest makes sense.

Well Rangers doesnt have the ability to recover traps but to set them if you dont make a market for those, should be expensive for the high dmg one. You just make a flaw for rangers.
We are trappers if we cant get traps how the skill be good for us..

1) Traps are in chest loot. I will try to bump up the frequency a bit as they are very infrequent drops. 2) I'll check with JLFN2. Maybe we can put a few in a shop somewhere. But these would probably be weaker range. Not EPIC or STRONG.

So what you are saying is if I dont have open lock and disarm trap I will never get good traps.. unless I buy them from players ?
Cant wait for crafting this is bad for my ranger.. how an average trap that everyone will save be good for anything?

You mentioned on another thread that you're playing a rogue/ranger. If you want to open chests, put skill points into open lock and possibly disable device. Opening locked chests is a prerogative of those that have the skills for it. It might not always be realistic (why can't my STR 20 guy with a greatsword not simply bash it open?) but its one of the edges that thematically come with being a rogue, so as far as I'm concerned its all good. You want to get the locked away treasure, bring a locksmith. Makes sense to me. You can't expect to fulfill every party role with one character after all. I'll say though, making smaller traps available through some vendors might not a bad idea. Maybe have a ranger-only vendor supply some lower range traps (after all, it's for trapping game, not monsters) and a rogue-only vendor supply medium range traps, leaving the higher range traps for guild/quest specific vendors and PCs who did hard work to get where they are

If you want your character to be able to do everything, build it that way.. but dont expect an entire server to be built around your character concept man. Mino horns are heavy, you want to get into locked/trapped chests. I'd suggest a strength ring, and 'knock' amulet, and hoping to hell you dont die from the traps... Or do a rebuild and build your character the way that you want him.

You may have to relly on other players who find them to sell them to you in order get the strongest traps. I don't know though. I will work on this with other staff and see what we can come up with. And some average traps do a lot of damage. Average Electric which is the highest of the average level traps does 15d6 electrical. Like I said.. I'll see if we can get some in shops. I'm sure if your a one off case where you really want traps badly, just catch a DM IG and explain it. RP it. You know...
