Hello,
I heard about this server and am a huge BG fan, so I figured id give it a go. Trouble is, I cannot get World Gate to work. I downloaded it, but when I click on the icon (from both the desktop and programn files) I get only the following message:
"WorldGate has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
Which is pretty odd considering it doesnt even start... let alone need to close. Ive uninstalled and reenstalled several times.. no luck. Any suggestions?

When I get home this afternoon I will write a step by step guide for using Worldgate. Its pretty simple now but if you have never used it before it can be confusing, at least it was for me when I first came to NWN2. Hopefully in the meantime though someone can help us figure this out.

In the worldgate readme, you will find some file names that need to be moved to your Neverwinter Nights 2 folder (C:/My Documents/ Neverwinter Nights 2). Without those files in that folder you will find errors and the program will not work.
Same thing happens when you use Audolo and other downloading programs. Cheers, Ice

I too would like to play, but cannot work with Worldgate. Is there a place to find the files needed manually?

Ice, I don't remember having to add folders to a directory. Do you remember in detail what it is you did? Let me know so I can add it to my "how to" thread.

I dont remember off the top of my head, but I do know that the configuration file for Worldgate is in my main NWN2 folder. I know I had to do that with at least Audolo, and I cant remember if I had to with Worldgate as I downloaded it a long time ago.

I am uncomfortable installing third party installation software on my computer. I avoid Audolo and Worldgate. As such I do all my installations manually. If there's no way to DL the files then that's a shame. Thanks for your help anyhow.

Since this is a world gate thread Ill post it here... World gate was run by me today and an error 404 came back. Apparently our download mirror is down for the time being or the link has changed and hasnt been reposted. If you have any insight please let me know as I cant play the server -Ice

Previously I had stated that WG was one of the better programs for downloading files...I think I am going to take those words back. Thinking it over, a whole bunch of people on other servers (like SoH) and now here are experiencing problems with this program. If it is possible, I vote we change to another method for downloading the required files...either manually, or audolo or something else. WG isn't all it's cracked up to be and already it's preventing potential players from experiencing the server.

Well I find it to work just fine really... yeah it has some issues occasionally, but I guess I dont experience things as much as others do. If we want to switch to Audolo then lets go for it.. as for manual downloads.. um Ill pass so much easier and quicker for one of the auto-downloaders.
Good to know it wasnt required to run for today, I just always click on "Check for new files" just incase. Saves me the trip to get into the game and find out I needed to update.

We are going to stick with worldgate unless Obsidian comes out with a native solutiuon.
In my experience it is the better program. There is always going to be people who will not be happy with they way we do things for whatever reason valid or not. This is the nature of the beast.
As I talked about earlier, we will offer the files for manual download once we get out of beta, things are changing to fast to do so now.
